1. Patent search
ILP assignment 3
Professor Harkins. By Sean McGary
2. The 7 String guitar
I chose to search the 7 string guitar
because it is relatively new addition to
the guitar family. 6 and 12 string
guitars have been around for a long
time, so I thought it would be
interesting to find more out about this.
5. The first result
What I saw was utility and design
patents.
The first page actually showed the
drawing for a seven string guitar.
Other pages showed parts and
accessories.
8. Page 2
The results I found on this page were
very vague. It was a list of people who
filed for patents, but there was not
specific information regarding the
actual patents.
This page was not very useful toward
my invention.
9.
10. Page 3 results
This search did not yield very good
results.
It showed one patent that was actually
a guitar pick.
11.
12. Page 4 results
This page yielded very useless
information as well.
One of the pages was for a guitar stand
which was not useful for my invention.
15. Page 5 results
Again, I had very luck with the results
pertaining to my invention.
One page I pulled up was a generator
and had nothing to do with my
invention.
Overall The initial search showed
some design and utility patents related
to the guitar. But not to a specific 7
16.
17. Google vs. USPTO
I have to say that the initial google
search was far more useful in regards
to my invention.
There were very specific results which
detailed patent drawings and specific
trade secrets.
