3. ~Nothing Just Happens~
This slide discusses a neglected, but important topic:
The relapse signs that occur BEFORE significant
weight returns.
Tip: Serenity believes this is why people feel weight loss does not
last. It is because you have not been provided a checklist of the early
warning signs that you are about to be eaten by the alligator
4. #1 You start searching for
exceptions
You notice your family, friends, co-workers are not doing what you do, seemingly without
the consequences. You begin developing a mental file of all the things people are saying
about YOUR weight loss and their theories about how weight loss really should be done,
even though they have not done it themselves.
You feel awkward nearly all the time
Tip: Stick to this TRUTH ~To be healthy you must eat healthy
Period.
5. #2 You avoid reporting ~ your
coach has begun chasing you
(this is the same as missing or arriving late for a live meeting)
Tip: Usually described as
“I’ve just been busy”
6. #3 Irritation: You start
wrangling* with your
coach, your sponsor, your
co-workers, your
spouse, heck,
everyone!
Tip:You are really arguing with yourself
Only you know how much you have
been sabotaging your good results or
how much you have been thinking of doing
so.
Wrangling: To obtain by persistent arguing or
maneuvering.

7. #4
You keep pushing
the envelope,
almost
manipulating
Tip: This comes from
recalling how the last time
you cheated, nothing
happened! Another example
is peanuts are legumes or
popcporn is a vegetable.
8. Tip: Sometimes so fast, you can’t keep up with it
yourself.
#5 Moving target-your weight loss
goal changes.
9. #6 The clock moves, but the time
never changes!
Tip: You may tell others or yourself that you are plateauing. It is really a self-
styled maintenance plan. You have been testing to see how much you can spin
the “dial” and still maintain the same “time” (weight). You are really gaining
and releasing again in time for reporting day
10. #7 Hiding
Tip:
This is probably the most important
of all of the relapse signs.
It may manifest as threatening to
drop out or actually doing so, not
referring anyone, “the doctor said”
not answering calls, texts or emails.
Regardless of the form of hiding
It will often be described as simply
being “too busy”
11. #8 You believe
none of this applies
to you and that you
are different
Tip: Your focus becomes more about
trying to prove your coach wrong,
instead of honestly examining your
self sabotage
12. Heed the warning signs and you’ll keep the
weight off. The gator is just waiting for
you to make the wrong choice
