How ICTC emerged…? 	National AIDS control & prevention policy 			                   2002 VolantaryCounselling &                       Prevention of  Testing centres(VCTC)                          Parent To Child                                    						   Transmission                                                                     (PPTCT)  	 Integrated Counselling & Testing Centre
What is ICTC….? Provide HIV counselling and testing and treatment referrals free of cost. They also serve those with STDs and TB who are generally referred to an ICTC for HIV testing.
ICTC setup..! 127 centres across the state  Located at all Medical Colleges, District Hospitals, General Hospitals, Taluk Hospitals as well as at some ESI hospitals and Private hospitals. In addition, there are centres in some railway stations and major prisons. 2 trained counsellors 	 1 laboratory technician Rapid HIV Test Kits have been supplied to these centres The result of the HIV test is given on same day to the individual after post–test counselling or the client is asked to meet the same counsellor for post test counselling on appointed date.

Continued… Better ability to cope with HIV related anxiety Improved health status through good nutritional advice Motivation to initiate or maintain safer sexual practices and behaviour change Prevention of HIV related illness Motivation for drug related behaviour Safer blood donation Motivating HIV infected person to involve spouse/partner for future spread and care.
