Solution
Say the class has 60 students.
1/3 of the students have pets or 60*(1/3) = 20 students have pets
1/2 of the students who have pets have dogs so 20*(1/2) = 10 students who have pets have dogs
So 10/60 students have dogs or 1/6 of the students have dogs.
