My poems

           Sheela Devi
The wait is over..
A glossy pallor fell on earth,
But,nay,it was my mind in mirth.
The scented flowers lost their smell,
Was my senses stealing it all?
A narrow path way stretched ahead,
Barren of any grass or mud.
I sat astride on my silken bed,
Gazing on to the path`s dead end!
Creeping ,crawling ,the time ,just passed,
Making a snail pride, in it's speed.
My dream come true was on his way,
A dream turned live ,with pride and joy....
With gliding gait, he stands near gate,
Abating all my sleepless wait.
INVISIBLE LOVER
My gaze fell up on a falling dew,
By chance ,it fell on my half closed eye.
Felt it ,like a caressing hand,
Smelt so fresh ,like ice on lime.
Haunted by that passion touch,
Sauntered I on to a smoldering height.
Morn`n`noon, I felt those hands
Churn my dormant delicate feel.
Night sky shone with silver stars,
Bright moon showed two probing eyes.
Gazed I ,with a passion ,strong,
Dazed, I sought those soulful look.
Early morn came dancing by,
Pearly dew drops fell here and there.
In the midst, one lovely drop,
Shone against my searching eyes.
It fell not, still enticed me,
But, stunned I stopped in my gait.
Two loving hands from ether, came
To engulf me ,in an embrace tight !!
A WALK ALONG THE RIVER THAMES

I ramble along the river Thames,
Eye for only the London skies.
Sprawling ,lies the concrete `forest',
Crawling, goes the age old 'flowing'!
Fresh and dewy English weather,
Brush up my nerves to joyous level.
Rotund wonder `The London Eye',
Rotates around for bird`s eye view.
Landscape shrivels in seamless grey,
Landing me in some celestial way!
River Thames ,meanders for`er,
Reverting visions to it`s silent depth.
Bend I down to cup it`s wetness,
Pent up passions engulf my being.
Touch I not the River Thames,
Much as I try my utmost level.
Eyes wide open, I shrink in shame,
Icy Thames was ,just my dream!!
THE DEATH OF A ROSE
A scrawny rose plant put forth a bud,
Rain and shower paid ne'er a heed.
Still the rose bud, spread and bloomed,
Careless of the naughty wind.
Callous nature mellowed wee bit,
A flower was formed with petals soft.
A wonky beetle flew down in haste,
To suckle in it`s honeyed nest.
Rose flower shook it`s crimson wings,
Gloating in her queenly looks.
A nimbus formed on sky above,
Showers poured on, earth below.
Rosy petals came scattering down,
Slowly floated, before the drown.
The puny ,slanting, thorny plant,
Stilled in shock at the rose it lost..
Yet another morn was born,
Birds chirped to greet the morn.
A silvery streak slashed the sky,
Ushering in that golden" fly".
Drone of nature's usual deed,
Spanned about in forgotten speed.
Men flocked around the vendor's stall,
To catch up on the news, unusual.
A mug of tea or a morning prowl,
Summed up the rich man's morning goal.
The not-so-lucky gained no fun,
Their dreary chores took their entire morn.
With pricking heat and prickly sweat,
Morn and fore noon speed with haste.
Evening brings the tired folks,
Back to home for snacks and jokes.
Night ushers in a glossy look,
Sky adorns a bridal smock.
Mini screen keeps the ladies uptight,
Towards the dead of a spooky night.
Here, thus ends an usual day,
To start afresh in a similar way .
MY LOVE
Beloved when seated next to you,
This squalid globe turns aglow.
Breezing up my entire sense
Blazing fire in different ways
Melting in your passionate caress,
Mellowing in those heavenly kisses.
The way you hold me in your arms,
Gives me the delectable spicy thoughts.
My lone hours of full emotion,
Whirls forever in your ovation.
You are to me the rising sun,
With all its spleen glow and shine .
Mere words of love are limp and lanky,
Wish I get many chance very handy.
SIGN OF SOLITUDE
A lugubrious tree high above the lot,
Yearning for an embrace tight,
It is a sign of solitude.
From the leafy world of forest deep,
A fluttery leaf falls when ripe,
It is a sign of solitude.
A scarlet flower shakes its head
But the wind dooms a petal dead,
It `s a sign of solitude.
A flock of birds among the clouds,
Finding all a bliss to the eyes,
A hunter lurks below on earth,
Aims one down for a wholesome feast,
That is a sign of solitude.
Friendship, kinship and lover's bliss,
Frizzles to mud at death's one kiss.
Jocund jolly friendly men,
Shrinks to viscid pit alone.
So death is a sign of solitude.
Glorious sun who makes us gay,
Is a loner in the Milky Way?
So HE is a sign of solitude.
SPRING TIME.
Oh! Spring time thou art so spruce,
Thou turns this globe prodigious.
The pluvial touch now fades aback,
To make way for a floral look.
This bounty blessing of the Lord,
Brings down here a celestial world.
The warbling of the boundless birds,
Echoes around this colossal size.
Every shrubs put forth their hope,
To turn these land a kaleidoscope.
The fields now shake their heads in peace,
As spring time swaps a fruitful kiss.
The silver streams springs with life ,
As if he attained his long lost wife .
All in all there is life in all,
And spring time brings hopes in full.
Oh! The savior ,don't fade from earth,
Don't give her back a time too writhe
MODERN YOUTH

This `net-set' age is driven by youth,
Who gives no ear to wrong and
right.
"Slovenly", is his sole watch word,
He `s immersed in his music world.
Cyber sex and late night dine,
Makes his day an egregious one.
Obedience ,to him, is an alien word,
For he has no time to heed the "old"!
Step by step ,his life here ebbs,
Alike the daft cigar ,he smokes..!!
MY NOCTURNAL VISITOR

A poke in my dream, a prick in my arm,
Awake I am ,wincing in pain!
Sleep evades ,though I hope to dream..
Keep my self vigil, though dull.
Hence again I feel that prick,
Mincing pain ,I bend to peek.
Pin prick shrouds my naked skin,
Skin so smooth ,sprouts some bumps.
In vain I seek that noxious source,
Bane to one is this miniscule `creep'!
By joining hands, as if in prayers,
High above my swooning head.
I yearn to trap my nocturnal pest,
My vampire visitor ,for my blood!
Ne`er can I get him, scot free,
For he knows it when I span my trap.
Soaring high he flies away...
I resort to get my long lost sleep,
My Mosquitoes friend ,exults in joy...
Down he flies to sing his song,
Crooning in to my open ears-
"Live and Let Live ,my sleepy Friend"!!!!
Mother Earth wails
A globe immersed in wanton fight
Ebbing out its redundant might,
Inmates survive as living dead..
Gliding amidst all evil deeds.
No values remain on this wicked span,
For life here is, not meant for human..
The evil has a niche for fun
Hence floats all round in constant spurn!!
Decades back, earth swarmed with boon,
Showering love and peace on men.
The fain and gain soon turned to pain,
None knew the cause for all this strain
The transitional change was slow but sure ,
Like cancerous cells that have no cure ..
Once earth reveled in her luscious `gifts`,
But now wails of vandals ,that come in shifts.
Blatant scandals of the lowest rung,
Blaze up earth with no slight pang.
Men of `Honor`, shun these gloating's,
None seem to care its noxious tidings .
Mother earth crumbles in heart felt sorrow,
Distressful of a cloudy morrow.
Earth `quakes` at times to announce her distress,
Over a land she holds with terrible stress.
Mankind perishes in some futile fights,
Peace, kindles in vain to impart its lights .
Praying for those colorful past,
Peace lovers resort to turbulent wait .
This planet moans for peaceful mirth
The ozone slowly shrinks off earth
BRINDAVAN MAGIC
A floral span with warbling birds,
Amidst the bramble leafy space.
A dancing river ran in it`s course,
Shimmering ,like some uncut pearls!
Shingled path way ran ahead,
Around the lotus replete silky pond.
A soothing ,scented, naughty breeze
Sneaked amidst the static petals.
Such was "Brindavan",the Lord`s abode,
Where love ran rampant ,with no occlude..
THE BRUTAL FATE
Yearning for a private nest ,
The birds flew high up east and west.
A lonely creeper lit aglow,
The lover's heart as fire at blow.
They warbled on to that sweet hide,
To peck one's love with no occlude.
Shutting all the lurking gloat,
They nestled on that leafy cot.
The floral creeper mused in fain ,
The tiny birds minced off their pain.
The forest waved it`s greenish blade,
The lovers found the world in dance.
The golden rays now probed their hide,
As if to share their nuptial bed.
Nature fanned it`s scented breeze,
But they failed to see those spying knaves.
The hunters were some carefree men,
Who killed the naive for game and fun.
Their sly eyes reached the cuddled up love ,
Shot one down with no slight move.
The he-bird writhed in crimson blood,
And came fast down with a soft thud.
The brutal fate laughed in it`s might,
Then took the stilled one off to feast.
The she-bird gazed with tears in her eyes,
The sunny side spun around in daze.
She still awaits him by the dead of night ,
And sings for him with hopes so great!!
BUTTERCUP
On a pearly shiny hill view top,
There gingelled on a buttercup.
She found all world an oceanic fun,
She thought the sun to be a gem.
All the flowers her sole kingdom.
She suckled all it`s honeyed juice,
And fluttered about on dappled wings.
Once she flew off down the mount,
Found a lotus amidst the pond.
The lotus looked so sweet and great,
That dazzled up her fatuous heart.
It`s pink petals billowed in wind.
It shook it`s head as if it cared.
The buttercup was so frazzled,
It flew to suck it`s juice sweet.
The slanting sun rays withered off earth,
The lotus shut it`s petals soft.
Trapped was she in the lotus case,
Troubled was she to flee and rise .
Next morning brought the lotus up,
With a smothered little buttercup.
THE RAMBLE
LOOKING OUT OF MY WINDOW
Sitting by the window, the world looked so wonderful..
Perhaps the world was indeed wonderful.
The tiny little winsome birds and the wild weary leaves
Every thing had an uncanny presence
As if they were all trying to dance alike
For, the life to them was nothing but lark.
The myriad lives out there were making all bliss…
A pluvial morn, when I gazed out of my window
I find a twig, shaped like bow..
A drenched little bird was musing on its curve.
Shriveling against the pin like drops
It flared its wings to snuggle with a droop.
A lightning flashed against the grayish span
I withdrew from my musty window pane.
The giant leaves of an unnamed tree
Sloshed its self as if to free
The nimbus moved and the sun peeped
The nature was venting off its heat
For a reason known to nature itself..
To my eyes it all looked so safe and calm.
A beauty that was lost to the world.
Rare exhibit of this nature's whims..
A breath taking scene, a feast to my eyes
Looking out of the widow, I often muse
Locking all my misery and tears.
Blocking always my weird fears .
AN ARROGANT MAN
The world is large, but not to him,
The Lord is great, but not to him.
His nose tips views sums it well,
For he is the lord and master of all.
Ever at loggerheads with works of art,
He feigns he knows the gist of it
He treads the ground in lofty steps,
He pays no heed to any one's talks.
Goodness to him is what he feels,
Boldness is just where he fails.
Wee-hour birds can't wake him up,
For morn is when he stops his sleep.
He gives no ear to men of words,
Indeed a cursed birth of arrogance.
His irate nature has an ilk,
An alley cat that sips its milk.
Both sees no world, still feels so safe,
Unaware of their loathsome life
THE CANDLE AND THE CURRY LEAVES

Candle emanates light to the world,
Curry leaves imparts taste to the food.
Both ,in it`s own simple way
Transforms to mankind heaps of joy.
 Man invented electric light,
 Forgot candles in that plight.
But candle fretted never a bit.
Melted itself, still threw it`s light.
Curry leaves too, mixed in dishes,
Making it a delight to masses..
At serving time , they lost their stand,
Thrown were they by noxious hand.
Grieved she not in that hurtful act,
Grew and bloomed as if to wait..
Both candle and the curry leaves,
Remains as symbol of charitable grace..
No leaves flutter, no birds sing,
The misty blues, resonate no song.
Pining hearts remain as stones,
Stringing ,never those loving notes.
When Love goes out of the window......
No ache remains, in the heart`s deep nooks,
Forsaken are those loving, tight hugs.
Abandoned are those myriad words,
The promises of some tightening bonds.
When love goes out of the window.........
Craving fain turns to aching pain,
All resolutions turn to shuddering bane.
The sight of one ,becomes a fright,
To evade that fright, one turns to plight.
When love goes out of the window........!!!!
My newly won job took me far,
Into the nonstop city roar.
Devoid of any village calm,
The soft and breezy swish of palm.
Nostalgia seeped in before it`s time, HAUNTED HOUSE
I loathed the city in it`s prime .
Work front colleagues helped me get,
A shack to rest my cozy cot.
              **
The house was old, still clean and fit.
A befitting joy to my shrunken pocket.
Reminiscing all my village musings
I settled ,for my city dreams.
                  **
Sleep occluded my homesick brain,
I turned and tossed in mental pain.
Ticking clock now turned lullaby,
Engulfing me to a stage, very sleepy.
Pluvial nature sloshed the house,
Lightning ushered in some rumbling sounds.
                   **
A weird noise made me vigil,
I stared in to a form ,quite still.
The lighted sky then showed me a girl,
Squatting on my window sill!
Blood oozed down from her long drawn teeth,
Fear shrouded up my gifted throat.
I fainted in to my frozen cot !!
                  **
Warbling of the morning birds ,
Soothed me off my nocturnal scenes.
Gathering all my scattered nerves,
I ran out of that haunted house .

I resort to get my long lost sleep, My Mosquitoes friend ,exults in joy... Down he flies to sing his song, Crooning in to my open ears- "Live and Let Live ,my sleepy Friend"!!!!
  • 12. Mother Earth wails A globe immersed in wanton fight Ebbing out its redundant might, Inmates survive as living dead.. Gliding amidst all evil deeds. No values remain on this wicked span, For life here is, not meant for human.. The evil has a niche for fun Hence floats all round in constant spurn!! Decades back, earth swarmed with boon, Showering love and peace on men. The fain and gain soon turned to pain, None knew the cause for all this strain The transitional change was slow but sure , Like cancerous cells that have no cure .. Once earth reveled in her luscious `gifts`, But now wails of vandals ,that come in shifts. Blatant scandals of the lowest rung, Blaze up earth with no slight pang. Men of `Honor`, shun these gloating's, None seem to care its noxious tidings . Mother earth crumbles in heart felt sorrow, Distressful of a cloudy morrow. Earth `quakes` at times to announce her distress, Over a land she holds with terrible stress. Mankind perishes in some futile fights, Peace, kindles in vain to impart its lights . Praying for those colorful past, Peace lovers resort to turbulent wait . This planet moans for peaceful mirth The ozone slowly shrinks off earth
  • 13. BRINDAVAN MAGIC A floral span with warbling birds, Amidst the bramble leafy space. A dancing river ran in it`s course, Shimmering ,like some uncut pearls! Shingled path way ran ahead, Around the lotus replete silky pond. A soothing ,scented, naughty breeze Sneaked amidst the static petals. Such was "Brindavan",the Lord`s abode, Where love ran rampant ,with no occlude..

  • 15. THE BRUTAL FATE Yearning for a private nest , The birds flew high up east and west. A lonely creeper lit aglow, The lover's heart as fire at blow. They warbled on to that sweet hide, To peck one's love with no occlude. Shutting all the lurking gloat, They nestled on that leafy cot. The floral creeper mused in fain , The tiny birds minced off their pain. The forest waved it`s greenish blade, The lovers found the world in dance. The golden rays now probed their hide, As if to share their nuptial bed. Nature fanned it`s scented breeze, But they failed to see those spying knaves. The hunters were some carefree men, Who killed the naive for game and fun. Their sly eyes reached the cuddled up love , Shot one down with no slight move. The he-bird writhed in crimson blood, And came fast down with a soft thud. The brutal fate laughed in it`s might, Then took the stilled one off to feast. The she-bird gazed with tears in her eyes, The sunny side spun around in daze. She still awaits him by the dead of night , And sings for him with hopes so great!!
  • 16. BUTTERCUP On a pearly shiny hill view top, There gingelled on a buttercup. She found all world an oceanic fun, She thought the sun to be a gem. All the flowers her sole kingdom. She suckled all it`s honeyed juice, And fluttered about on dappled wings. Once she flew off down the mount, Found a lotus amidst the pond. The lotus looked so sweet and great, That dazzled up her fatuous heart. It`s pink petals billowed in wind. It shook it`s head as if it cared. The buttercup was so frazzled, It flew to suck it`s juice sweet. The slanting sun rays withered off earth, The lotus shut it`s petals soft. Trapped was she in the lotus case, Troubled was she to flee and rise . Next morning brought the lotus up, With a smothered little buttercup.
  • 18. LOOKING OUT OF MY WINDOW Sitting by the window, the world looked so wonderful.. Perhaps the world was indeed wonderful. The tiny little winsome birds and the wild weary leaves Every thing had an uncanny presence As if they were all trying to dance alike For, the life to them was nothing but lark. The myriad lives out there were making all bliss… A pluvial morn, when I gazed out of my window I find a twig, shaped like bow.. A drenched little bird was musing on its curve. Shriveling against the pin like drops It flared its wings to snuggle with a droop. A lightning flashed against the grayish span I withdrew from my musty window pane. The giant leaves of an unnamed tree Sloshed its self as if to free The nimbus moved and the sun peeped The nature was venting off its heat For a reason known to nature itself.. To my eyes it all looked so safe and calm. A beauty that was lost to the world. Rare exhibit of this nature's whims.. A breath taking scene, a feast to my eyes Looking out of the widow, I often muse Locking all my misery and tears. Blocking always my weird fears .

  • 20. AN ARROGANT MAN The world is large, but not to him, The Lord is great, but not to him. His nose tips views sums it well, For he is the lord and master of all. Ever at loggerheads with works of art, He feigns he knows the gist of it He treads the ground in lofty steps, He pays no heed to any one's talks. Goodness to him is what he feels, Boldness is just where he fails. Wee-hour birds can't wake him up, For morn is when he stops his sleep. He gives no ear to men of words, Indeed a cursed birth of arrogance. His irate nature has an ilk, An alley cat that sips its milk. Both sees no world, still feels so safe, Unaware of their loathsome life
  • 21. THE CANDLE AND THE CURRY LEAVES Candle emanates light to the world, Curry leaves imparts taste to the food. Both ,in it`s own simple way Transforms to mankind heaps of joy. Man invented electric light, Forgot candles in that plight. But candle fretted never a bit. Melted itself, still threw it`s light. Curry leaves too, mixed in dishes, Making it a delight to masses.. At serving time , they lost their stand, Thrown were they by noxious hand. Grieved she not in that hurtful act, Grew and bloomed as if to wait.. Both candle and the curry leaves, Remains as symbol of charitable grace..
  • 22. No leaves flutter, no birds sing, The misty blues, resonate no song. Pining hearts remain as stones, Stringing ,never those loving notes. When Love goes out of the window...... No ache remains, in the heart`s deep nooks, Forsaken are those loving, tight hugs. Abandoned are those myriad words, The promises of some tightening bonds. When love goes out of the window......... Craving fain turns to aching pain, All resolutions turn to shuddering bane. The sight of one ,becomes a fright, To evade that fright, one turns to plight. When love goes out of the window........!!!!

  • 24. My newly won job took me far, Into the nonstop city roar. Devoid of any village calm, The soft and breezy swish of palm. Nostalgia seeped in before it`s time, HAUNTED HOUSE I loathed the city in it`s prime . Work front colleagues helped me get, A shack to rest my cozy cot. ** The house was old, still clean and fit. A befitting joy to my shrunken pocket. Reminiscing all my village musings I settled ,for my city dreams. ** Sleep occluded my homesick brain, I turned and tossed in mental pain. Ticking clock now turned lullaby, Engulfing me to a stage, very sleepy. Pluvial nature sloshed the house, Lightning ushered in some rumbling sounds. ** A weird noise made me vigil, I stared in to a form ,quite still. The lighted sky then showed me a girl, Squatting on my window sill! Blood oozed down from her long drawn teeth, Fear shrouded up my gifted throat. I fainted in to my frozen cot !! ** Warbling of the morning birds , Soothed me off my nocturnal scenes. Gathering all my scattered nerves, I ran out of that haunted house .
