The document compares the disaster movie The Dark Knight Rises and the adventure movie Kingsman: The Secret Service. 2. The definition of genre is a class or category of artistic endeavor having a particular
form, content or technique. The particular genre we are focusing is movie genre. Movie
genre refers to the method of categorizing movies based on similarities in the narrative
elements from which films are constructed. The examples of movie genres are action,
adventure, comedy, crime, disaster and more. The movie genres I am going to compare
are disaster and adventure. The disaster genre movie I pick is The Dark Knight Rises
while the adventure genre movie I pick is Kingsman: The Secret Service. The synopsis of
The Dark Knight Rises is eight years after the Joker's reign of anarchy, the Dark Knight is
forced to return from his imposed exile to save Gotham City from the brutal guerrilla
terrorist Bane with the help of the enigmatic Selina. On the other hand, Kingsman: The
Secret Service is about a spy organization recruits an unrefined, but promising street kid
into the agency's ultra-competitive training program, just as a global threat emerges from
a twisted tech genius. Both movies are from different genres but they have several
similarities. The similarities between these 2 movies I am going to compare are the main
character, main villain and movie ending
The first similarity I am going to compare are the main characters from both movies.
The main characters from both movies are protagonists. The main character from The
Dark Knight Rises is a billionaire named Bruce Wayne. He is a businessman during
daytime but he will become a vigilante known as Batman during the night. He protects
the city secretly because all the police in town are against him. For Kingsman: The Secret
Service, the main character is named Gary Unwin but he is better known as Eggsy. Eggsy
is the son of an agent from Kingsman, the spy organization. His father is killed for
protecting his partner during a mission and he soon join Kingsman as a rookie to be a spy
as excellent as his father. He is trained by his mentor, Galahad which is a senior agent in
Kingsman. The main similarity from both movies are the main characters do not originate
from a family with decent background. Bruce’s parents are dead when he is still a kid.
His parents are murdered during a mugging in front of him. Therefore, Bruce is raised by
his valet named Alfred. For Eggsy, he lives with his mother after his father’s death during
a mission. His mother soon marries another man but he does not treat Eggsy well.
Eggsy’s stepfather is an abusive man so Eggsy hates him.
The second similarity I am comparing are the main villains from both movies. The main
characters from both movies are antagonists. The main villain from The Dark Knight
Rises is the field commander of the League of Shadows named Bane. He was potent in
both strategy and physical combat. On the other hand, the main villain from Kingsman:
The Secret Service is a psycho named Valentine. Valentine is a very rich technology
tycoon and a computer genius. He is assisted by Gazelle, a female assistant that has a pair
of superman strength bladed prosthetic legs. The main similarity between both movies are
both villains want to put the world in misery. Bane plants bombs around the whole
Gotham and releases every prisoner from the Blackgate Prison. Bane detonates the bombs
causing all the police trapped underground, therefore the remaining safe police are not
able to defeat the prisoners guarding the city. Meanwhile, Valentine dominates the world
by giving away free sim cards that would affect people’s minds when the sim cards are
activated. The controlled people will be extremely violent, barbaric, vicious that can
actually to destroy everything in their way including to kill themselves.

3. The third similarity I am comparing are the ending of both movies. The similarity of
both movies endings are world peace. For The Dark Knight Rises, the main villain Bane
is killed by Selina, the catwoman when Bane is trying to kill batman. Next, batman
chases Miranda, another villain who is trying to detonate the bomb planted in a reactor.
As the bomb is already activated when batman arrives, he has no idea but to carry the
bomb to the bay using his flying vehicle because he wants the bomb to leave the city as
far as possible when it detonates. The bomb exploded in mid air eventually and no
citizens are harmed. The city is back to normal again after the chaos. As for Kingsman:
The Secret Service, Eggsy sneaks into Valentine’s base to stop him from activating the
sim cards. After several gun fights with the army of Valentine, Eggsy manages to reach
the headquarter of the base. After defeating Gazelle, Eggsy hurls one of Gazelle's bladed
prosthetic legs into Valentine's chest, putting an end to his evil plans as well as killing
him. The people around the world is free of Valentine’s control and the world is peaceful
again.
Lastly, the similarities I have compared are the main character, main villain and movie
ending. In my opinion, The Dark Knight Rises is the best movie in disaster genre while
Kingsman: The Secret Service is the best movie in adventure genre. Both movies are the
top movies from hollywood and they have very high rating from IMDB and Rotten
Tomatoes. Besides, both movies will not be great without having great director, actors,
stunts and more. Although The Dark Knight Rises makes more profit than Kingsman: The
Secret Service, both movies are still very enjoyable in terms of story and actions.
