3. The front digipak covers of Pop artists are usually
bright coloured as this will attract their target
audience. The front also shows either a close-up or
mid-shot of the artist so that it stands out to the
audience and makes it easier for them to know on
what album is by who without looking for the artist
too in depth. Here the artists are looking glamorous to
appeal to the girl target audience as well as guys.
Some artists ,like Katy Perry, choose to have an
unusual interesting wacky style to make it more
captivating. The front cover of digipaks connotates to
the audience vaguely on what the album will be like.
4. The disks inside a digipak are often created
in a simple way that is interesting to look
at. The design of the CD’s are usually just a
colours or a pattern which reflect upon the
genre and type of album. The main
features found on a disk are the artists
name, the record label and the album
name. These features are quite important
as it makes it easier for the audience to
know what the disk is.
5. Most back covers of a digipak have an image
of the pop artist. The shot of the artists
usually takes up half the back cover, leaving
the other half to show a list of tracks. This
connotates to the audience on what tracks
are in the album. The back covers usually link
to the front of the colour and style. At the
bottom corner, all back covers consist of a
barcode.
6. The cover amplifies
Rihanna connotating
to the audience that
the genre is Pop.
Inside the digipak you see a longer
image of Rihanna laying sideways.
The props of roses being around
here brings out the love side this
album will have. The way she is also
positioned shows a side of
voyeurism.
The disk also having a
rose photo brings the
idea of love and
elegancy of this
album; being
significant.
The back cover follows the
convention of pop genre digipaks as
there is a long shot of Rihanna on one
side along with a list of tracks on the
opposite.

album ‘Loud’. The image of
Rihanna being tonal really attracts

album having an edge and being inexplicable. The design being
simple and clean portrays the genre of pop. The cover being fashion
orientated due to the make-up styling gives the idea of it being a
recent album.
8. Innovative as the back
cover has no shot of
artist let alone long-shot.
This digipak by Katy Perry links in well with her music video of ‘California
Girls’. Due to this song being a massive hit many people just by looking at
this front cover will recognise the artist and at least one her songs. As
that music video was a sweet based video the disks were printed in a
candy like form and also had a candy scent on them. Just by looking at
the cover of this digipak you can immediately tell that it is a pop genre
based and that the songs will be happy and jolly due to the whole
concept of candy. The digipak attracts the target audience being females
due to the colour of pink and being that idea of a ‘teenage dream’ world.
Men are also attracted to this digipak due to the seductive long shot of
her posing following the convention of voyeuristic image. The main
feature on a back cover of a barcode is clearly shown on the bottom left
side. Having that barcode gives that professional and genuine finish.
There is a list of songs that feature in the digipak which gives the
audience an idea on what songs this album consists of; further promoting.

the digipak for ‘Teenage Dreams’
album by Katy Perry. This poster
is very bright and bold linking
with the genre of Pop beautifully
and clearly. This poster attracts
the young teens not just because
of the album name but because
of the theme being candy and
girly girl.
10. This digipak by Lady
Gaga is slightly
innovative as it does
not follow the usual
convention of Pop
albums being bright
and colourful; it goes
against it by being
black and white.
However she follows
a part of the
convention by having
a mid-shot on the
back cover
As Lady Gaga is not a
conventional pop artist her style
is easily recognizable. Although
the front cover doesn't show the
full face clearly people can
automatically tell that it is Lady
Gaga due to her quirky style
which differs her from the other
Pop artists.
The disks consists of the artists
name and album name following
the conventions of digipaks.
11. Here are the posters
to Lady Gaga’s album
of ‘The Fame
Monster’.
Even her posters are
black and white
standing out to all the
other typical pop
artist.
There is information
about the album and the

the poster for the
audience.
This poster gives the audience
a vague idea on what the
album cover(digipak) will look
like and therefore what the
soundtrack will be like.
12. The genre for this
artist is shown
clearly through this
digipak of being a
mix of Pop Punk
artist. The digipak
consists of
information which
interests the
audience.
The disk having a skull
and the colours black
and pink shows the side
of Punk with Pop. The
conventions of a disk
here is followed as the
name of the artist is
shown as well as the
record label along with

The close-up follows
the convention of
pop showing
voyeurism. The punk
genre is also
followed with the
black framing and
dark lighting
13. This is Avril Lavgine’s
poster for her album
release. It consists of
information and a
mid-shot of her
telling the audience
who’s album release
it is.
The poster shows the genre of Pop Punk
and stands out due to it being thick and
bold capturing their target audience. The
mid-shot of her also shows the seductive
side of her which appeals to the men.
14. From looking at this
digipak and the title
you can immediately
tell that it is a Heavy
Metal genre.
The digipak consists of
information about the album
which may interest their target
audience. There a long shots,
across the digipak, of the band
to tell the audience who the
album is by.
The disks being simple with a
bold album title of ‘Metallica’
gives that whole Heavy Metal
genre feel. The disks consist of
a record label, the name of the
band and the track lists.
15. This is the poster for
the ‘Metallica’ album
by the Death
Magnetic. It links well
with their digipak as
they both follow the
style of colours being
brown, silver and
white with the metal
feel.
From this poster the audience get
a real good connotation of who
this album is by and what the
music will be like ; being heavy
metal.
