  2. 2. DANCE Dumhal Dance: Dumhal Dance The famous folk dance of the Kashmiri people is called as Dumhal. Generally, this dance is performed with wearing long colourful robes, tall conical caps. Their caps or costumes are studded with beads and shells. Only the men folk of the Wattal are privileged to perform this dance on specific occasions.
  3. 3. Kud: The Kud dance is one of the hiilly region dances from Jammu, exhibits swaying & sinuous movements. Kud is basically a ritual dance performed in honor of Lok Devatas. This is a kind of thanks-giving ritual based dance performed mostly during nights. As characteristics of all folk dances, spontaneity is also a feature of this dance. People of all ages and sexes participate in this folk dance form, which is accompanied by musical instruments used during the dance like Narshingha, chhaina, flute and drums. It is the rhythm of music that directs the movement of all participants.
  4. 4. PASHMINA It is believed that a pashmina shawl as warm as six sweaters! It is very thin yet very warm. The goat from which the soft pashmina wool is collected, are found on very high altitudes of 5000 meters. In winter the temprature here drops below 0ᵒC-40ᵒC). A coat of ( warm hair grows on the goat’s body which protects it from extreme cold. The goats shed some of their hair in summer. This hair is so fine that six of these would be thick as one hair of ours.
  5. 5. HOUSE BOATS The houseboats in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir are usually stationary. They are usually moored at the edges of the Dal Lake and Nageen lakes. Some of the houseboats there were built in the early 1900s, and are still being rented out to tourists. These houseboats are made of wood, and usually have intricately carved wood paneling. The houseboats are of different sizes, some having up to three bedrooms apart from a living room and kitchen.
  6. 6. TOURISTS SPOT IN J&K  Jammu: Jammu is a city that is considered as a paradise on earth. The city is divided into two parts old and new city. The city has a number of temples wrapped in age-old myths and quite a few forts and palaces.  Sanasar: As one of the wonderful hill stations in Jammu region, its name is taken from small local lakes 'Sana' and 'Sar'. This town is surrounded by huge conifer trees and has beautiful view. This place has achieved lots of tourist attention in recent times and provides an excellent spot for adventure sports.  Bhaderwah: Popularly known as "Mini Kashmir", the town is gifted with aweinspiring views and charming beauty due to striking woodlands and gleaming streams flowing through different parts of the town. It also has many historical and religious places.
  7. 7.  Vaishno Devi: Vaishno Devi hills, located in the north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, are famous all over the country for housing the Vaishno Devi Temple. This temple, being one of the holiest Hindu temples in the nation, is dedicated to Vaishno Devi, who is even known as Vaishnavi or Mata Rani. Apart from being the Mother Goddess, She is said to be the incarnation of Shakti.  Patnitop: One of the key hill stations in the region, it is famous for its adventure sports like skiing in winters and in summers it offers paragliding rides and picturesque picnic spots.
