New Graduate Nurses Essay
Transitioning from nursing school to working in a hospital setting can be a challenging time for a
new graduate. Due to the nursing shortage, new graduate nurses are being hired with little to no
experience. This is overwhelming for new nurses, especially when they are not getting adequate
support or training from the hospital. The amount of stress, pressure, and lack of training is leading
to a high turnover rate for new graduate nurses. With patient acuity on the rise, new graduate nurses
that are filling these vacancies in the hospitals, need to be competent nurses to provide proper and
safe care to the patients. This article researched the competency of new graduate nurses. "Nursing
competence is not only a professional standard...show more content...
Communication includes verbal and written, as well as the ability to document data. One of the
most difficult transitions, and a main stress factor, is the new graduates' ability to communicate
with the physicians. Having the ability to be a leader is a key to success. "To be an effective leader, a
nurse must show collaborative teamwork, which is consistent with AACN core competencies. To
fulfill this competency, new graduates must be able to delegate to others to promote patient safety
and health" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Conflict resolution with team members and patients was a
noted as a skill that new graduates lacked. "Several new graduates expressed concern that they were
unprepared to deal with conflict appropriately and professionally" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Due to
the lack of experience, new graduates are unfamiliar with the proper ways to deal with conflict
successfully. Mentorship has been an effective way in improving new graduates confidence in
dealing with conflict, because they were guided through real situations. Organization, prioritization,
and time management was another identified problem. The ability to prioritize patient care, which
has a direct effect on patient safety, is a critical component of nursing. "Both new graduates and

Reflective Essay Into Graduate School
I apologize for not answering this weekend, but I was busy with studying and homework for this
week. The main thing that I am hopeful to gain from working in the lab is the experience of what
it is truly like to conduct research. I've always wanted to explore psychology, and as of right now,
the behavioral neuroscience pathway is the most appealing. So hopefully with the lab experience
and working with faculty, when I graduate from here in 2019, I'll be prepared to apply and
hopefully be admitted into graduate school. When I envision my future career, it's between working
on research at a university or working with individuals in a counseling/clinical environment. This is
what I plan on for now, but hopefully with more experience and knowledge

Prior to college, I never had GPA. The schools I attended stimulated and focused on the love of
learning, not a grade. I developed a passion for the process of learning and being curious, going
beyond what is required to gain a thorough understanding. With this mindset I have approached my
undergraduate years and plan to approach my graduate school education. It is my love for education
and curiosity to discover new things that keeps me infatuated with atmospheric science. Additionally,
it helps maintain my focus while faced with difficulties in both my professional and personal

Graduate Study Challenges and Strategies for Personal Success
Keeping your eyes on your personal goals and professional goals is key to staying focused and
obtaining them in a timely fashion. Knowing your personal goals and balancing your personal life
is a challenge, but there is need for balance to prevent stress. There are many ways to carry out
these goals for success. This paper will discuss short term and long term goals and plans to attain
them and how to overcome the...show more content...
Many obstacles were present and acted as a deterrent in obtaining in obtaining certain goals.
Obstacles such as time constraints with work while finding time to complete assignments, getting
reacquainted with writing papers in the proper formats and proper wording and regaining good
study habits. The time and space between attending upper level classes was a major gap that needed
to be closed and reprocessed with new habits and mind sets.
Carter, C., Bishop, J., and Kravits. S.L. (2011), states some habits used for success throughout the
school term are, to stay ahead of the assignment deadlines, develop good study habits and with more
practice, the habits become simpler to apply no matter what the situation and eventually will
become an essential part of how to operate in school, work, or personal life. A milestone for
reaching a long term goal is accomplishing and completing the enrollment process for graduate
school, and advancing through the first semester to pursue a Master's degree in nursing/ Education.
Writing a paper is a great weakness, especially since there have been such a huge gap in between
school attendance. This weakness relates to personal communication. Strengths and weaknesses
must be used to improve goals as it relates to personal communication while accomplishing
achievements. As des

Essay about High School Graduation Day
High School Graduation Day
Many people have experienced the over whelming excitement that you feel as you approach high
school graduation day, and for me, that's a day that I will never forget. The amount of emotions
that you feel on graduation day is unbelievable, and I have yet to experience anything else like it.
I can remember feeling anxious to celebrate the big day with my friends and family, while at the
same time I was panicking thinking about having to walk across the stage in front of that many
people. Then, the more I thought about the reality of graduation day, I started to get curious, but
nervous, about being able to start a new chapter in my life once graduation day had passed. There
are several reasons why I, still...show more content...
As the end of the night approached us, I couldn't stop thinking about how many mixed emotions I
had about starting a whole new chapter in my life. I couldn't wait to go to college, meet all new
people, get a degree so that I could start my career path, but I knew that meant I had to say goodbye
to my two best friends, who were moving several hours away from me. This was one of the hardest
things I had ever had to do in my life. We all cried a little, and then made promises to keep in touch,
and then we were off into the real world! I was very happy to be at this point in my life, but I was
scared deep down inside.
When I look back on this day now, I still remember every detail as if it was yesterday. I was so
proud, and happy to be able to celebrate such an amazing day with all of my friends and family. I
know I will never forget how embarrassed I was walking across the stage in front of all of those
people, feeling famous after taking so many pictures, making our final memories together at our
graduation parties, and then being a nervous wreck when it was time to go out into the world
without my best friends at my side. High school graduation day was a very emotional day for me, but
it was by far the most exciting day I have ever experienced in my

Throughout the ages, Europe has been a place where foreigners go to seek adventure, history, the
arts, education and romance. Since a young age I have been intrigued by the European culture in
movies, history, food, books, as well as languages. After receiving my Master's degree, I would like
to live and perform in Europe, where I hope to also work as a translator. Because of my background,
I have been determined to live abroad and explore from a young age. I am from a multi–cultural

effective and inspiring for my audiences. My other motivation for pursuing graduate studies is to
build a strong network of colleagues and mentors within my field. I believe that my studies at
Eastman will assist me in worldwide networking and promoting my career as a singer through the
friendships and academic encounters that I experience. I believe I am a good candidate for
graduate school because I am an ambitious student, I am not afraid to accept difficult challenges,

Why Attend Graduate School
Thank you for taking the time to read my statement of purpose.
My goal in preparing to attend graduate school is to obtain a career in research and teach as an
English professor with applied studies in cognitive psychology. While I do plan on working in an
academic setting, I am interested in researching how psychology and literature complement one
another and how combining the two may improve academic performance in students from
underrepresented communities. I developed an interest in cognitive function as a teenager but never
thought to pursue it at the graduate level until I began studying at the John Jay College of Criminal
Justice. It was here that I began majoring in English and started to really immerse myself in the
academic community.

Why I Want to Attend Graduate School Essay
I would like to Attend Capella University's Masters Program in School Counseling. I have always
known that I wanted to work with children ever since I can remember. Working with children is
something that I have always enjoyed doing even if it was tutoring, or just being around them.
The reason I want to receive my Master's Degree in School Counseling is to become a Guidance
Counselor. Being a guidance counselor you can make a difference in a child's life, whether it's
talking to them about their grades, peer pressure, or any of the things that children of all ages go
through in school and in life. The moment I knew I wanted to be a guidance counselor was at the
age of 14, and attending middle school. I can remember my guidance...show more content...
The program that I was assigned to work with was the After School Program. At first I was just an
assistant for the teachers, but then I became one of the lead teachers. I helped with homework,
reading, planning activities, creating the curriculum and a lot more. I stayed with the center
throughout the entire school year. When some of the kids came there they were struggling with
certain subjects such as reading and math. When they received their first report card the grades
were kind of low, but after a while there grades slowly progressed and they were so excited to
show me there grades it made me so happy. It made me feel good to know that I made a difference
in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the internship I still stayed at the center
because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the
director felt I was such a huge help to the students that they decided to hire me full time. Due to
lack of funding the center closed down and the students no longer had a place to go. I still keep in
contact with some of the parents and students just to see how they are doing and they all say the
same thing, I helped them stay on the right path. Every time I see one of them I know that I made a
difference. I am now employed with the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
where I am a Medicaid Eligibility worker. I determine eligibility for

Going To Graduate School Essay
I am some what apprehensive about if I want to go to graduate school. Especially for science
majors graduate school is a large part of progressing your career forward and improving your
chances for other jobs. However the long and arduous process of graduate school scares me a bit,
especially because there isn't as much of flexibility as there is in undergraduate. Because of that,
I really enjoyed the panelists talk about graduate school. Yes, graduate school is as hard as I think
it is. However, I should not sell myself short, I am going to UT one of the best schools in the
country and if I can make it here I can make it in graduate school. Another fear I had was that I had

Graduation
Through out life people go through so many hardships. Whether it be good or bad there is always
something that comes out of the situation. One of the most exciting but yet scariest events would be
graduation. For a lot of people, graduating from high school is a goal. It takes a lot of time and
effort to achieve that goal. In the long run, it opens a lot of opportunities for people to succeed.
Graduation is the end of high school, and the beginning to life. I can almost remember that day like
it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school day. It was a gorgeous May morning, therays of
sun flittered through my miniblinds blinding me as if I hadn't seen light in days. I sluggishly

Once I was finished, I gathered up my cap and gown and my car keys and headed out the door. All
the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I
promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I knocked on his back door and
let myself in like I always do. All of his family members were running throughout the house trying
to get ready. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the
bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the
mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that
we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready,
and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars.
Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started
giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around
at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the
principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in
two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. We could hear the band warming up
and playing songs. All the people that were standing around me were bubbling

Essay about Writing at a Graduate Level
Preparing for Academic Success at the Graduate Level
COM/600
Characteristics of Graduate Writing Writing at a graduate level is a major part of a student's
coursework when entering into a Master's program. Throughout a person's college career, they have
written many papers in their undergraduate studies, but writing papers at a graduate level differs
from previous styles of writing. There are very distinct characteristics in graduate writing. If the
basic outline and rules are followed correctly, the paper will come together in a clear and precise
manner; grabbing the audience's attention, and making the point of the paper undeniable to the
reader, while using facts and references to...show more content...
Use quotation marks where word for word statements are placed and use in–text citations where
paraphrasing has occurred. Giving credit to all these references will help the writer to avoid
plagiarism. Plagiarism is an inexcusable offense when writing papers. It is considered stealing
and simply not citing references could lead to the rejection of the paper, not including the various
penalties the student will have to face from the University. Research helps the writer to support
any ideas in the paper and full access to any and all references should be given to the reader
through citations and a reference page that is to be included at the end of the paper. A graduate
level paper will address a specific audience with a clear and comprehendible purpose. It is important
that the writer has a true and clear understanding of what is being asked from them for the
assignment before taking on the writing task. If the task is unclear, the writer's point will be lost as
will their audience. One of the most important factors of any paper is the tone. At a graduate level,
the tone is set in formal writing. The use of informal or conversational wording should be avoided.
This includes using clichГ©s, contradictions, and generalizations (Graduate Level Writing,
2011*2014). "Graduate level writing demonstrates an awareness of the assignment's guidelines,
purpose, audience, format, and constraints" (Graduate Level Writing (2011*2014)). Organization is

6th Grade Graduation
My 6th Grade Graduation
After 6 years in elementary school, it was finally time to celebrate graduating from elementary
school. It was not only a happy time graduating from elementary, but also at the same time not a
fun thing to do. It was the last day of school, the beginning of summer break, and the weather was
sunny and warm. Everyone in the multi use room were getting their breakfast and eating on tables

was my friends Eduard, Marcus, and Erik. While everyone was eating breakfast, our two 6th grade

as pictures from science camp, pictures of working in the school garden, pictures of field trips, and
other activities we have done throughout the year.

goodbye and have a great summer. After that, I said goodbye to my friends and went home, but
before everyone left, my teacher gave everyone a small, blue envelope with her name on it. While

My Five Year Plan After Graduation Essay
My Five Year Plan After Graduation
Five years after graduation I plan to obtain a master's degree in law enforcement. Right now I'am
really not sure what I really want to truly do for the rest of my life. The only thing I like doing is
finding clues and figuring out the criminal in mystery books.
I know that sense I like doing that, it leads me to desiring a position as a detective or something
dealing with the FBI.
Im thinking that its most likely that I will go to a university. If I do, I will go to the University of
Phoenix. I'm attending the University of Phoenix for a few reasons but I'm ultimately going to the
university to become a detective. I want to be successful and rich so I can have all the good things in
life. I want...show more content...
So I finally decided that I'd have to study my way out of a middle class family. I'm working hard
in school because it's vital for my future. I need that education to accomplish all of the goals that I
have set out for myself. Although, my truly main goal in life is really to become a detective. You
will see why below.
Police and detectives maintain law and order, collect evidence and information, and conduct
investigations and surveillance. People depend on police officers and detectives to protect their lives
and property. Law enforcement officers, some of whom are State or Federal special agents or
inspectors, perform these duties in a variety of ways, depending on the size and type of their
organization. In most jurisdictions, they are expected to exercise authority when necessary, whether
on or off duty. Being a detective might be dangerous and stressful, but I'am willing to take that risk.
I know that in addition to the obvious dangers of confrontations with criminals, officers need to be
constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number of other threatening situations. Many
law enforcement officers witness death and suffering resulting from accidents and criminal
behavior. A career in law enforcement may take a toll on officers' private lives. Candidates must be
U.S. citizens, usually at least 20 years of age, and must meet rigorous physical

Stepping upon a simple stage was the best thing I could have ever done. Overseeing the multitude
that was there to witness my every word, every tremble, every emotion, and every heart beat, was
then that I realized that the sentiment was real. It was essentially the end of time and I could not
bear to hold back what I no intentions of doing. Cry. Tears of joy darted down my face as I
walked across the stage and received my ultimate gift. With fancy inscription, my gift was entitled

I could sense the stares glaring upon me as I switched positions every second in my chair. Two
hours wasted out of my life before the orator called my name. With a shamble walk, insensible

my classmates ran out the door and past me with glee assuring me that she would see me on
Monday, the day of our graduation. Saturday and Sunday went by fast. Vowing that God had cut
off at least twelve hours off my weekend, Monday morning arrived. I had to be at the coliseum at
nine a.m. I woke up at eight thirty on the dot. With no essential worries and not a care in the
world what I looked like, I merely jumped out of bed and put my graduation dress, cap, and gown
on. In six minutes flat I was ready to go. I made it out my room and past the mirror wall right
before I was about to leave. Looking at myself I knew I looked unacceptable, but my mind could
not lead me to care. Right before I could make it out the door my mom vented her words of
refutation. "Where do you think you are going? You did not bother to brush your hair, wash your

I Am A Graduate Student Essay
As the fall semester is quickly winding down, I often catch myself reflecting on the fact that I will
be completing my second semester as a graduate student. It certainly still is a surreal feeling for
myself. I cannot even fathom the fact that I will be able to say that I have gotten through two
semesters of graduate school. The reason I bring this up is because when I first started the graduate
program, I would often wonder whether I belonged in graduate school. There was a sense of
self–doubt. Therefore, I had trouble believing that I was worthy of being in this program. And, as
ignorant as it may sound, I attributed my acceptance into the program to luck and fate. I believe
one major reason for feeling that way is due to the fact that I am the first one in my family to attend
college, so I felt incapable of achieving something that had never been done in my family.
Furthermore, self–reflection allows for me to reflect back on my collegiate journey and reminisce
on my own personal obstacles and challenges that I have dealt with. It also allows for me to be a
more effective mentor. I see myself as a mentor who is empathic and understanding of those students
who are also first–generation college students who may be experiencing similar issues. Not
necessarily only being able to be an effective mentor when working with first generations students,
rather learning new perspectives and understanding different cultural norms that can further assist me
as I continue to develop

Pursuing A Graduate Degree Essay
Pursuing a graduate degree, specifically a PhD, is a decision that was made only in the last few
years. This new direction was largely based on my recent exposure to higher education in general,
but to minority women in higher education specifically. To help explain how this exposure helped
to propel my desire to pursue a graduate degree at this point in my life, I feel it's important to
provide you with some background information and context of my upbringing. My parents are
immigrated from Mexico shortly after getting married. Although my father had been coming to
the United States since he was a teen to work, he did this seasonally and would return to Mexico
when the agricultural season ended. After my parents married they settled in a small agricultural
town in a coastal town of California. It is in this small town that my parents raised their 6 children.
Holding on to their traditional values we were raised in a traditional manner; from a young age the
girls were expected to help out in the house and contribute by doing housework while the boys were
expected to help my father which included helping out in the fields. It was in this way that my
parents tried to instill many of the same values which they had acquired in their youth growing up in
Mexico. Although they wanted us to do well in school it wasn't something that was strongly
emphasized. Perhaps it was due to their limited exposure to education and the lack of educational
opportunities my parent's had growing up.

Graduate School Goal
My goal of graduating from graduate school can be altered by world population because if the
world population increases that means that there will be more people applying to graduate school;
most likely. If more people apply to graduate school, it will be harder for me to get in. The increase
in the world population would slim my chances of going to graduate school, and could alter my goal.
Family type could alter my goal of going to graduate school because if I wanted to start a family
now I could. By starting a family, most of my time would be consumed by keeping up with
housework, watching the children, cooking and cleaning the house. All of these chores would keep
me from spending the appropriate amount of time studying, and focusing

Writing A Graduate School Essay

  • 1. New Graduate Nurses Essay Transitioning from nursing school to working in a hospital setting can be a challenging time for a new graduate. Due to the nursing shortage, new graduate nurses are being hired with little to no experience. This is overwhelming for new nurses, especially when they are not getting adequate support or training from the hospital. The amount of stress, pressure, and lack of training is leading to a high turnover rate for new graduate nurses. With patient acuity on the rise, new graduate nurses that are filling these vacancies in the hospitals, need to be competent nurses to provide proper and safe care to the patients. This article researched the competency of new graduate nurses. "Nursing competence is not only a professional standard...show more content... Communication includes verbal and written, as well as the ability to document data. One of the most difficult transitions, and a main stress factor, is the new graduates' ability to communicate with the physicians. Having the ability to be a leader is a key to success. "To be an effective leader, a nurse must show collaborative teamwork, which is consistent with AACN core competencies. To fulfill this competency, new graduates must be able to delegate to others to promote patient safety and health" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Conflict resolution with team members and patients was a noted as a skill that new graduates lacked. "Several new graduates expressed concern that they were unprepared to deal with conflict appropriately and professionally" (Theisen & Sandau, 2013). Due to the lack of experience, new graduates are unfamiliar with the proper ways to deal with conflict successfully. Mentorship has been an effective way in improving new graduates confidence in dealing with conflict, because they were guided through real situations. Organization, prioritization, and time management was another identified problem. The ability to prioritize patient care, which has a direct effect on patient safety, is a critical component of nursing. "Both new graduates and employers have Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Reflective Essay Into Graduate School I apologize for not answering this weekend, but I was busy with studying and homework for this week. The main thing that I am hopeful to gain from working in the lab is the experience of what it is truly like to conduct research. I've always wanted to explore psychology, and as of right now, the behavioral neuroscience pathway is the most appealing. So hopefully with the lab experience and working with faculty, when I graduate from here in 2019, I'll be prepared to apply and hopefully be admitted into graduate school. When I envision my future career, it's between working on research at a university or working with individuals in a counseling/clinical environment. This is what I plan on for now, but hopefully with more experience and knowledge Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Prior to college, I never had GPA. The schools I attended stimulated and focused on the love of learning, not a grade. I developed a passion for the process of learning and being curious, going beyond what is required to gain a thorough understanding. With this mindset I have approached my undergraduate years and plan to approach my graduate school education. It is my love for education and curiosity to discover new things that keeps me infatuated with atmospheric science. Additionally, it helps maintain my focus while faced with difficulties in both my professional and personal Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Many obstacles were present and acted as a deterrent in obtaining in obtaining certain goals. Obstacles such as time constraints with work while finding time to complete assignments, getting reacquainted with writing papers in the proper formats and proper wording and regaining good study habits. The time and space between attending upper level classes was a major gap that needed to be closed and reprocessed with new habits and mind sets. Carter, C., Bishop, J., and Kravits. S.L. (2011), states some habits used for success throughout the school term are, to stay ahead of the assignment deadlines, develop good study habits and with more practice, the habits become simpler to apply no matter what the situation and eventually will become an essential part of how to operate in school, work, or personal life. A milestone for reaching a long term goal is accomplishing and completing the enrollment process for graduate school, and advancing through the first semester to pursue a Master's degree in nursing/ Education. Writing a paper is a great weakness, especially since there have been such a huge gap in between school attendance. This weakness relates to personal communication. • 5. Essay about High School Graduation Day High School Graduation Day Many people have experienced the over whelming excitement that you feel as you approach high school graduation day, and for me, that's a day that I will never forget. The amount of emotions that you feel on graduation day is unbelievable, and I have yet to experience anything else like it. I can remember feeling anxious to celebrate the big day with my friends and family, while at the same time I was panicking thinking about having to walk across the stage in front of that many people. Then, the more I thought about the reality of graduation day, I started to get curious, but nervous, about being able to start a new chapter in my life once graduation day had passed. There are several reasons why I, still...show more content... As the end of the night approached us, I couldn't stop thinking about how many mixed emotions I had about starting a whole new chapter in my life. I couldn't wait to go to college, meet all new people, get a degree so that I could start my career path, but I knew that meant I had to say goodbye to my two best friends, who were moving several hours away from me. This was one of the hardest things I had ever had to do in my life. We all cried a little, and then made promises to keep in touch, and then we were off into the real world! I was very happy to be at this point in my life, but I was scared deep down inside. When I look back on this day now, I still remember every detail as if it was yesterday. I was so proud, and happy to be able to celebrate such an amazing day with all of my friends and family. I know I will never forget how embarrassed I was walking across the stage in front of all of those people, feeling famous after taking so many pictures, making our final memories together at our graduation parties, and then being a nervous wreck when it was time to go out into the world without my best friends at my side. High school graduation day was a very emotional day for me, but it was by far the most exciting day I have ever experienced in my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Graduate School Application Essay Throughout the ages, Europe has been a place where foreigners go to seek adventure, history, the arts, education and romance. Since a young age I have been intrigued by the European culture in movies, history, food, books, as well as languages. • 7. Why Attend Graduate School Thank you for taking the time to read my statement of purpose. My goal in preparing to attend graduate school is to obtain a career in research and teach as an English professor with applied studies in cognitive psychology. While I do plan on working in an academic setting, I am interested in researching how psychology and literature complement one another and how combining the two may improve academic performance in students from underrepresented communities. I developed an interest in cognitive function as a teenager but never thought to pursue it at the graduate level until I began studying at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. It was here that I began majoring in English and started to really immerse myself in the academic community. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Why I Want to Attend Graduate School Essay I would like to Attend Capella University's Masters Program in School Counseling. I have always known that I wanted to work with children ever since I can remember. Working with children is something that I have always enjoyed doing even if it was tutoring, or just being around them. The reason I want to receive my Master's Degree in School Counseling is to become a Guidance Counselor. Being a guidance counselor you can make a difference in a child's life, whether it's talking to them about their grades, peer pressure, or any of the things that children of all ages go through in school and in life. When some of the kids came there they were struggling with certain subjects such as reading and math. When they received their first report card the grades were kind of low, but after a while there grades slowly progressed and they were so excited to show me there grades it made me so happy. It made me feel good to know that I made a difference in their lives. After I finished my needed hours for the internship I still stayed at the center because I felt like the kids there needed me and I made a difference in their lives. I guess the director felt I was such a huge help to the students that they decided to hire me full time. Due to lack of funding the center closed down and the students no longer had a place to go. I still keep in contact with some of the parents and students just to see how they are doing and they all say the same thing, I helped them stay on the right path. Especially for science majors graduate school is a large part of progressing your career forward and improving your chances for other jobs. However the long and arduous process of graduate school scares me a bit, especially because there isn't as much of flexibility as there is in undergraduate. All the graduates had to meet in the high school library an hour before the ceremonies started, and I promised one of my best friends Tony that we would go together. I asked his mom where Tony was and she proceeded to tell me that he was in the bathroom getting ready. I tapped on the door and walked in. He was standing in front of the mirror with his cap and gown on. He look me straight in the eyes and said," Can you believe that we are about to graduate?" I replied," No, it really hasn't set in yet." Tony finished getting ready, and then we left for the high school. The parking lot was filled with all the other seniors' cars. Tony and I walked into the library ten minutes late like usual, and the principal had already started giving instructions. I found my place in line and then was all ears. I couldn't help but look around at all the others. Smiles were plastered on their faces as if they had heard a hilarious joke. Once the principal concluded his speech, the whole senior class paraded down the hallway to the commons in two uniform lines stopping just outside the gymnasium doors. • 12. Essay about Writing at a Graduate Level Preparing for Academic Success at the Graduate Level COM/600 Characteristics of Graduate Writing Writing at a graduate level is a major part of a student's coursework when entering into a Master's program. Throughout a person's college career, they have written many papers in their undergraduate studies, but writing papers at a graduate level differs from previous styles of writing. There are very distinct characteristics in graduate writing. Use quotation marks where word for word statements are placed and use in–text citations where paraphrasing has occurred. Giving credit to all these references will help the writer to avoid plagiarism. Plagiarism is an inexcusable offense when writing papers. It is considered stealing and simply not citing references could lead to the rejection of the paper, not including the various penalties the student will have to face from the University. Research helps the writer to support any ideas in the paper and full access to any and all references should be given to the reader through citations and a reference page that is to be included at the end of the paper. A graduate level paper will address a specific audience with a clear and comprehendible purpose. It is important that the writer has a true and clear understanding of what is being asked from them for the assignment before taking on the writing task. If the task is unclear, the writer's point will be lost as will their audience. One of the most important factors of any paper is the tone. At a graduate level, the tone is set in formal writing. The use of informal or conversational wording should be avoided. This includes using clichГ©s, contradictions, and generalizations (Graduate Level Writing, 2011*2014). Police and detectives maintain law and order, collect evidence and information, and conduct investigations and surveillance. People depend on police officers and detectives to protect their lives and property. Law enforcement officers, some of whom are State or Federal special agents or inspectors, perform these duties in a variety of ways, depending on the size and type of their organization. In most jurisdictions, they are expected to exercise authority when necessary, whether on or off duty. Being a detective might be dangerous and stressful, but I'am willing to take that risk. I know that in addition to the obvious dangers of confrontations with criminals, officers need to be constantly alert and ready to deal appropriately with a number of other threatening situations. Many law enforcement officers witness death and suffering resulting from accidents and criminal behavior. A career in law enforcement may take a toll on officers' private lives. One of my classmates ran out the door and past me with glee assuring me that she would see me on Monday, the day of our graduation. Saturday and Sunday went by fast. Vowing that God had cut off at least twelve hours off my weekend, Monday morning arrived. I had to be at the coliseum at nine a.m. I woke up at eight thirty on the dot. With no essential worries and not a care in the world what I looked like, I merely jumped out of bed and put my graduation dress, cap, and gown on. In six minutes flat I was ready to go. I made it out my room and past the mirror wall right before I was about to leave. Looking at myself I knew I looked unacceptable, but my mind could not lead me to care. Right before I could make it out the door my mom vented her words of refutation. "Where do you think you are going? You did not bother to brush your hair, wash your face nor take a shower." Thinking quickly, I managed to use time as my excuse and scampered out the door to avoid any more questions. It certainly still is a surreal feeling for myself. I cannot even fathom the fact that I will be able to say that I have gotten through two semesters of graduate school. The reason I bring this up is because when I first started the graduate program, I would often wonder whether I belonged in graduate school. There was a sense of self–doubt. Therefore, I had trouble believing that I was worthy of being in this program. And, as ignorant as it may sound, I attributed my acceptance into the program to luck and fate. I believe one major reason for feeling that way is due to the fact that I am the first one in my family to attend college, so I felt incapable of achieving something that had never been done in my family. Furthermore, self–reflection allows for me to reflect back on my collegiate journey and reminisce on my own personal obstacles and challenges that I have dealt with. • 19. Pursuing A Graduate Degree Essay Pursuing a graduate degree, specifically a PhD, is a decision that was made only in the last few years. This new direction was largely based on my recent exposure to higher education in general, but to minority women in higher education specifically. To help explain how this exposure helped to propel my desire to pursue a graduate degree at this point in my life, I feel it's important to provide you with some background information and context of my upbringing. My parents are immigrated from Mexico shortly after getting married. Although my father had been coming to the United States since he was a teen to work, he did this seasonally and would return to Mexico when the agricultural season ended. After my parents married they settled in a small agricultural town in a coastal town of California. It is in this small town that my parents raised their 6 children. Holding on to their traditional values we were raised in a traditional manner; from a young age the girls were expected to help out in the house and contribute by doing housework while the boys were expected to help my father which included helping out in the fields. It was in this way that my parents tried to instill many of the same values which they had acquired in their youth growing up in Mexico. Although they wanted us to do well in school it wasn't something that was strongly emphasized. Perhaps it was due to their limited exposure to education and the lack of educational opportunities my parent's had growing up. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Graduate School Goal My goal of graduating from graduate school can be altered by world population because if the world population increases that means that there will be more people applying to graduate school; most likely. If more people apply to graduate school, it will be harder for me to get in. The increase in the world population would slim my chances of going to graduate school, and could alter my goal. Family type could alter my goal of going to graduate school because if I wanted to start a family now I could. By starting a family, most of my time would be consumed by keeping up with housework, watching the children, cooking and cleaning the house. All of these chores would keep me from spending the appropriate amount of time studying, and focusing Get more content on HelpWriting.net
