Students returned for their "first day" of school for the 2013-2014 school year on Tuesday, September 3. Farmington welcomed nearly 7000 students. Early assessments and iPad distributions ensure the day is positive for students.

2. The Class of 2017 was first on the scene at Farmington High
School. FHS enrollment is projected at 1896.

3. The new “Spirit Rock” was in fine form to welcome students!

4. Elementary students have backpacks and are ready for school!

6. New Akin Road Principal Lisa Reichelt welcomed students on
her official first day of school in Farmington!

7. Akin Road experienced upgrades to the school’s media center
over the summer, here is the new check out desk area!

8. The Media Center is now enclosed to better control sound and
the new design provides improved work areas for students.

9. Just minutes into the school year, Media Center Specialist
Nicole Roach leads her first session in the new Media Center.

10. Here’s a view from a new reading nook which takes
the place of the former check-out desk.

11. Students in Mr. Terharr’s class at Dodge Middle School had
iPads out and operational just minutes into the year.

12. Farmington Elementary starts the school year with significant
construction complete, but some still underway.

13. Work on the Second Grade wing is complete.

14. The eastern portion of the school is undergoing significant
renovations along with new heating, air conditioning and
ventilation in the entire school.

15. A temporary food service area and lunchroom has been
established until the project is complete in December.

16. FES Grades K-1 are being held in the former District
Kindergarten Center until the holiday break.

17. Dawn Slinger’s classroom got a surprise visit from
FES Counselor Jen Venz and Farmington Tiger Mascot Pouncer!
