2. What we will be covering today Looking at job search websites Setting up a hotmail account for job seeking Ensuring you have your LATEST resume and cover letter in your inbox Copying these documents to your laptop Attaching these documents from your desktop to your internet job application

3. Job Searching Go to seek and find a job You can change ‘sort by’ to sort by Date. That way the latest jobs will be on top

4. You can sent up an ‘email alert’ for yourself. So any new jobs are sent to your email account

5. Practice setting up an email alert for 2 job seeking websites (you can use as many different key words as you like)

6. Locate the button to print out the job Gillian Day CatalystIM

7. How to print from a web page Drag your mouse down and select the text you want to print Press CTRL P (shortcut for print)

8. Choose print ‘selection’ and it will only print the area you have selected (in blue)

9. Practice printing a small section of a web page

10. Use our job seeker website at home In google Type www.cim. jobhuntersonline. com

11. Press enter to bring it up Add to your Favourites so you don’t have to type it in each time.

12. Why have a job seeking email account You won’t be reliant on your USB key to download your resume You can do job seeking from ANY computer with internet access and attach your resume – without your USB You can receive replies to job applications on your email account

13. Setting up a hotmail account Sign in Password Catalyst

14. Go to inbox in & find email with resume & Cover Letter Resume & Cover letter Double click to open

15. Open Document & top left ‘save as’ Save to desktop Gillian Day CatalystIM 15

16. Repeat this step. Close documents & you should see your resume and cover letter on your computer desktop Your resume should now be on your desktop ready to be added to job application

17. Practice doing this till you are confident that you can put your resume & cover letter on your desktop

20. Keep a record of the jobs I have applied for 18

Recording the Jobs you have applied for Write details in your Catalyst Log book Print out job description so you can refer to it later (write date you applied on the bottom) Destroy after a few weeks so you don’t get bogged down with paperwork Optional – follow up with a phone call. Ask Do you get my application Have I been short listed If not, any suggestions Any other jobs going

23. I want to change my cover letter or have 2 versions Open your cover letter on your desktop. Change wording and ‘save as’. Save with new name on desktop OR USB. Saved on desktop with new name

24. Practice saving a new version of your cover letter on the desktop OR your USB
