Absorption of anthocyanin dye and its first order kinetics on bacterial cellu...iosrjce
Bacterial cellulose (BC) is one of the most important biomaterial in food and nutraceutical
industries, these industries utilize BCto immobilize anti-oxidants and flavonoids inside, as they are easily
digestible. Industries produce BC by fermentation process using Gluconoacetobacterxyllinum, which cellulose
turns out to be expensive. This experiment was designed to produce bacterial cellulose from fermented tea or
Kombucha tea by Symbiotic colony of bacterial and yeast (SCOBY) and absorption of anthocyanin dye on BC
pellicle was studied, dye retention capacity were obtained for samples kept in various dye loading% and soaked
for different time periods, dye retention capacity optimized the time period and dye loading for BC

Complex ensemble of shapes in an image is very difficult for segmentation. Hough transform is one
of the robust algorithms for detecting geometric shapes in the images. The modification of this Hough transform
is used for effecting way of segmenting images. By tuning the parameters of the circle detection model,
extracting the concentric shapes is achieved. In this paper, we proposed an algorithm for finding the distance
between the concentric closed shapes in an image. These achieved by splitting the image into four quadrants
and apply the Hough transform for detecting the curves in each quadrant and finally combine the result of four
quadrants and achieve the result

Ethics in the Search of Knowledge: A Note to Muslim Studentsiosrjce
Muslims should inculcate in their mind the idea that knowledge in Islam is sought and spread
purposely for Allah’s sake but not for one’s recognition or fame as viewed by many. When searching for
knowledge appropriate manners (A’daab) are to be observed with a view to getting beneficial knowledge from
the teachers. This is because good manners lead to prosperity while bad ones lead to misery. The Prophet
(SAW) was reported to have said in one of his traditions that "through good manners one reaches the status of
the person who not only fasts but who also stands late in the night to pray". He also says in another Hadith that
"Shall I not inform you of the most beloved to me and the one seated closest to me on the Day of Resurrection?
Those of you who are best in manners". The two Ahadith quoted stress the importance of good manners
expected to be imbibed by every Muslim who, particularly, wants his search for knowledge yield positive result.
This is true if we only understand that knowledge cannot be acquired or gained by merely consulting books.
Therefore, it is against this background that this article intends to discuss ethics in the search of knowledge: A
note to Muslim students.

The antibacterial activities of the methanolic, hot water, chloroform and petroleum ether extracts of
Choclospermum planchonii leaf were tested against some clinical bacterial isolates and reference organisms.
The phytochemical screenings of the extracts were also carried out. The leaf extracts of the plant exhibited
antibacterial activities against clinical isolates of Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus
aureus, Shigella flexneri, and Salmonella typhii and reference strains of Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 28923),
Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (ATCC 27853. The methanolic leaf extracts
exhibited the highest antibacterial activity, its minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) ranging between 0.31
and 1.25 mg/ml; and its zones of inhibition on the various test microorganisms ranging between 8mm and 13
mm. The petroleum ether extracts had the weakest antibacterial activity, its minimum inhibitory concentration
(MIC) ranging between 2.50mg/ml and 5.00mg/ml and its inhibition zone ranging between 4mm and 8mm. The
phytochemical constituents present in the plant were alkaloids, tannins, saponins, cardiac glycosides, and
sterols. The methanolic extracts of the leaf exhibited potentially biological activity than other extracts. This
indicates that the plant leaf could be useful in the treatment of human infections caused by these pathogens. The
antibacterial activities of the methanolic leaf extract may be attributed to the presence of bioactive compounds.

Enhancing Pupils’ Knowledge of Mathematical Concepts through Game and Poemiosrjce
The study investigated the effects of game and poem enhanced instruction on pupils’ knowledge of
mathematics concepts in mathematics (Fractions and decimals, Volume of, cylinder; triangular prisms and
sphere; Capacity and Weight). A total of 344 pupils from twelve (12) public primary schools of Ogbia and
Yenagoa Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State, Nigeria were involved in the study. A pretest-posttest
control group quasi-experimental design was adopted in the research. The moderating effects of gender were
also examined on the independent and dependent variables. Using ANCOVA statistics, the results revealed that
pupils exposed to game and poem enhanced instruction have better mean score in knowledge of mathematics
concepts than the control groups. Poem was found to be more effective in improving pupils’ knowledge of
mathematics concepts than game and a non-significant gender difference existed in the mean scores in
knowledge of mathematics concepts. There was no significant interaction effect of gender on pupils’ knowledge
of mathematics concepts. The implication of the findings was discussed and appropriate recommendations were
made.

The Development Problem Based Learning Collaborative Model in Sociology Learn...iosrjce
This reseach in based on the real condition Senior High School Sociology learning activity in
Madiun regency which is still far from what we wish, still focus on cognitive aspect. Affective aspect and skill
need a little touch, if it is impossible to say they are still untouched. Even, we are obliged to implement the
attitude or character values in the activity of learning.
The purpose of the research is: (1) to recognize the recent condition of sociology learning activity, (2) to
create a sociology learning model, Problem Based Learning Collaborative, (3) to identify the effectiveness of
the model in improving student achivement.
The method of the research and the model development is carried out through these stages : Preliminary
research, development design, model testing or product evaluation. Collecting the data is using observation,
interviews, questionnaries, and documentation technique. Data analysis in the preliminary research is using
qualitative approach while model testing or product evaluation is using quantitative approach experiment. Ttest
isused to determine the differences between Problem Based Leraning Collaborative model and varied
lecturing model.
The result of the study is concluded as follows: (1) Sociology learning activity in Madiun Regancy is still
varied in delivering the knowledge, not yet focus on delivering of the value. Also the process of learning
evaluation is still focus on cognitive aspect ( knowledge ). Where as according to curriculum, sociology must be
conducted as an integral subject. The aim must also touch all aspect, include : cognitive, affective, skill, and
attitude. That is why, it is needed to conduct Problem Based Learning Collaborative model. (2) After being
validated by a team of experts and practitioners, the draft of Problem Based Learning Collaborative Model is
experimented in, among others, SMAN 1 Parang. The result of the model can be understood and implemented
by both teachers and students. After the trial, the model is applied as a restricted quasi–experimental test in
SMAN Bungkal Ponorogo and SMAN Badegan Ponorogo. The results show that the experimental groups have a
better average than the control group both in the cognitive aspect and the affective one. When the model is
applied extensively in SMAN 1 Parang, SMAN 2 MAGETAN, SMAN Sukomoro, SMAN Sampung, the results
remains the same. It shows that the experimental groups heve a better average than the contol ones, both in the
coginitive aspect and the affective one. Applying the model, it shows that the model effects the students
significantly in increasing the achivement ( cognitive aspect ) and strengthen the character and attitude
( affective aspect and skill ) compared with the varied lecturing model. Thus, it can be concluded that the groups
using Problem Bsed Learning Collaboraive Model has a better achivement and effort in implementing the
characters values more than that of using varied lecturing model.
