The Somè Traditional Council is introducing new funeral arrangements and organization to replace the current ones. The current practices are too long, expensive, and negatively impact the local economy and youth. A committee was formed last year to submit a report, which was accepted by the Standing Committee and opinion leaders. A seven-member committee will educate citizens in the Somè Traditional Area on the new plans from January to May 2024. The new funeral plans will take effect in June 2024, and all existing dumegawo funeral committees will be dissolved in May 2024 when new ones are selected.

Kyidomhene of Aowin Traditional Area, Nana Adu Kwame, has condemned various harassment and assassination attempts allegedly made on the life of Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin III, by the Odikro of Jomoro, Nana Kwame Nkansah, which led to the death of four assailants last year among other deliberate attempts to soil the name of the legimately enstooled chief by some disgruntled individuals for their parochial interest.
In a press statement on Friday, April 28, Nana Adu Kwame insists that Tano Kwaw Benbuin III was properly nominated and installed per all customs and traditions and therefore his enstoolment is legitimate.
He also eulogized the chief for his accomplishment in the past four years notwithstanding all the threats to his life and murderous harassment make him worthy of his name.

Torgbiga Addo VIII, Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area has marked 40 years of reign as overload of the area, with a call on all Ado of Klikor both home and abroad to unite and pull together for the forward march of the area.
Young Africans for Opportunities (YAFO), a research organization has called for the abolishing of third party insurance and categorization of comprehensive insurance for utmost benefit of Car owners and Operators. This forms part of recommendations from the 2022 ‘Driver Mo’ Report recently launched by the YAFO in Accra.
As part of its advocacy work, YAFO last year set out to work on the Driver Mo Report. The general objective of the study was to ascertain vehicle insurance experiences in Ghana.
The research focused on the perception of vehicle insurance while ascertaining the current level of insurance access.
The ‘Driver Mo’ report was based on exclusive research based on vehicle insurance advocacy in Ghana. The report also aimed at stopping alleged police harassment of drivers, and igniting driver behavioral changes by advocating for better vehicle insurance policies that are market-driven and responsive to the needs of drivers. Project Lead for YAFO, Nathaniel Dwamena, told journalists on the sidelines of the launch event that the report would help transform the motor vehicle insurance industry in the country.
Presenting the findings of the research, Dwamena who is also the President of YAFO admonished insurance companies in the country to provide incentives that promote good driving.
He said the report detailed the performance of some insurance companies, alleged police harassment, and fraudulent dealings of some insurance companies that needed to be investigated.
Also, the report noted that most Ghanaians – about 82% often do not have an interest in filing complaints or reporting for reasons attributed to a bureaucratic delay in the processing, amounting to being awarded an insurance claim, and the perceived unwillingness of the insurance companies to pay for claims.
Central Region has recorded the most violent incidents in the November-December 2022. It recorded 16 incidents which contributed 38% of total incidents. This represents a take over from the Ashanti Region considering the two previous reports i.e., June-July and August-October 2022.
The Local Government Service (LGS) has recommended some measures to be taken by the various Regional Coordinating Councils (RCC's) and the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDA'S) across the country
The recommendations were contained in the 2021 Performance Evaluation Report (PER) releases by the service in September. This is to help improve the performance of the various RCCs and MMDAs going forward...

The Catholic Bishop of Jasikan, the Most Rev Gabriel A. A Mante, has urged traditional leaders in the Oti and Volta regions to resist any attempt by the government to mine iron ore - a recently discovered mineral resource in the Oti region.
The Oti regional minister Joshua G. Makabu at a press conference in Accra earlier in October 2022, announced the discovery of Iron ore in commercial quantities in the region and urged investors to begin looking for lands in the region to start their investments there due to the discovery.
Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs has conferred Council status on the Klikor Traditional Area. This is in line with provisions in the Chieftaincy Act of Ghana.
A total of 25 traditional rulers were sworn in as members of the new Council with Torgbiga Addo VIII, Paramount Chief of the Klikor Traditional Area as its president. This was at a brief inaugural ceremony held at Klikor in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta region.
Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Fati Lily Soale, who represented the sector Minister - Kojo Kum, said the Council status would pave way for the establishment of the necessary structures like committees and therefore the Council must keep pace with the processes and procedures of land administration and be abreast with the various dispute resolution mechanisms aligned with the Chieftaincy Act to enhance effective delivery on the mandate.
