2. Easter Sunday – the day
we celebrate the greatest
event in human history! I
have set out below some
reasons as to why the
resurrection is such good
news. We celebrate the
cross and rightly so, but if
Jesus had not been
resurrected, our faith
would be useless, we
would be hopeless. But
praise God
JESUS IS ALIVE!!
4. 1. Jesus proves He does what He says He is going to do!
Because of the resurrection
we can be sure that what he
said about Himself and His
claims are true
“When they came together in
Galilee, he said to them, The
Son of Man is going to be
betrayed into the hands of
men. They will kill him, and
on the third day he will be
raised to life.”
(Matthew 17:22-23)
5. 2. We have the forgiveness of all our sins!
The penalty for sin has
been paid for us by
Jesus
And if Christ has not
been raised, your faith is
futile; you are still in your
sins.
(1 Corinthians 15:17-18)
6. 3. We have victory over the power of sin!
This means we do not have to
sin. The same power that
raised Jesus from the dead is
now in us.
“For we know that our old self
was crucified with him so that
the body of sin might be done
away with, that we should no
longer be slaves to sin-
because anyone who has died
has been freed from sin.”
(Romans 6:6-7)
7. 4. We have new life
We have been ‘born again’
into a new life
“And if the Spirit of him who
raised Jesus from the dead
is living in you, he who
raised Christ from the dead
will also give life to your
mortal bodies through his
Spirit, who lives in you.”
(Romans 8:11)
8. 5. We have God given authority over Satan and his demons
Because Jesus is in us and
defeated Satan, we can resist
him and tell him to flee
because Jesus lives in us.
“I have given you authority to
trample on snakes and
scorpions and to overcome all
the power of the enemy;
nothing will harm you.
However, do not rejoice that
the spirits submit to you, but
rejoice that your names are
written in heaven.”
(Luke 10:19-20)
9. 6. We have eternal life!
This means we get to live with Jesus
in His kingdom forever. This should
keep you going through any “light and
momentary affliction” (2
Corinthians 4 v 17)
“But Christ has indeed been raised
from the dead, the firstfruits of those
who have fallen asleep. For since
death came through a man, the
resurrection of the dead comes also
through a man. For as in Adam all
die, so in Christ all will be made alive.
But each in his own turn: Christ, the
firstfruits; then, when he comes, those
who belong to him.”
(1 Corinthians 15:20-24)
10. 7. We have hope for each day!
As well as the hope to come,
we can also live each day of
our lives in hope. We walk
each day with the resurrected
Jesus inside us.
“Praise be to the God and
Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ! In his great mercy he
has given us new birth into a
living hope through the
resurrection of Jesus Christ
from the dead”
(1 Peter 1:3)
11. There are loads more
benefits to Jesus’
resurrection. A Christian
doesn’t just celebrate the
resurrection at Easter. We
celebrate the power of
Jesus’ victory every day!
