1 and 2 Chronicles were written as the exiled nation of Israel returned after 70 years to begin rebuilding the temple. Chronicles was written to show the centrality of God and that the blessings of God require obedience to His law. The books describe many of the same events as 2 Samuel and 1 & 2 Kings but the focus in on Judah and the temple. It also describes one of the greatest acts of repentance and forgiveness in the Bible.

(1 Samuel 13:1-15; 15:1-35) - The belief in sin, and the idea that someone could be referred to as a “sinner,” have all but disappeared from our permissive society. Sinful behavior has been explained away, excused, tolerated, defended, and now accepted by most people. When confronted with sin, king David simply said, “I have sinned against the Lord” (2 Sam 12:13). However, when some Christians are confronted with sin in their life, they become defensive and seek to excuse the behavior that is under question.
"The General Epistle of Jude", or "The Letter of Jude".
"This letter was written to defend the apostolic faith against false teachings that were arising in the churches."
"The letter is a reminder (1:12; 3:1) of the truth of Christianity as opposed to the heresies of false teachers. Important passages include those concerning the transfiguration (1:16-18), the inspiration of Scripture (1:21), and the certainty of the second coming of Christ (3:4-10)."
"The letter, show John’s obvious affection for his “little children” and concern for their spiritual welfare. The book is filled with contrasts – light and darkness (1:6-7; 2:8-11) love of world and love of God (2:15-17); children of God and children of the devil (3:4-10); the Spirit of God and the spirit of Antichrist (4:1-3); love and hate (4:7-12,16-21)."
"Background: Like Ephesians, Philippians and Colossians, Philemon is one of the Prison epistles, written during Paul’s first confinement in Rome. Onesimus, one of the millions of slaves in the Roman Empire, had stolen from his master. Philemon, and had run away. Eventually, he made his way to Rome, where he crossed the path of the apostle Paul, who led him to faith in Christ (v. 10). Now Onesimus was faced with doing His Christian duty toward his master by returning to him. Since death would normally have been his punishment, Paul wrote this wonderful letter of intercession on Onesimus’s behalf."
"Contents The theme of the book is the superiority of Christ and thus of Christianity. The words “better,” “perfect,” and “heavenly” appear frequently. The outline shows how the theme is developed by proving that Christ is superior both in His person and His priesthood. Favorite passages include 2:3 (so great a salvation), 4:12 (the living Word of God), 4:16 (the throne of grace), 7:25 (the intercession of Christ), 11:1 (the description of faith), 11:4-40 (the heroes of faith, 12:1-2 (the Christian race), and 13:20-21 (a great benediction)."
“The book is concerned with the practical aspects of Christian conduct; it tells how faith works in everyday life. Jame’s purpose was to provide concrete ethical instruction. Compared to Paul, James shows much less interest in formal theology, though the letter is not without theological statements (1:22; 2:1, 10-12,19; 3:9; 5:7-9,12,14). Many subjects are discussed in this book, making it like a series of brief sayings arranged in the form of a letter. While there is little formal structure to the book, its many instructions explain how to be doers of the Word (1:22). In the 108 verses of the epistle there are references or allusions from twenty-two books of the Old Testament and at least fifteen allusions to the teachings of Christ as embodied in the Sermon on the Mount. Among the key subjects discussed are faith and works (2:14-16), the use of the tongue (3:1-12), and prayer for the sick (5:13-16).”

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
4. David and the Ark

5. I. INTRODUCTION
TO THE FIRST BOOK
OF THE CHRONICLES
AUTHOR: Ezra DATE: 450-425 B.C.
Title Originally one book with 2 Chronicles (until 180 B.C.), the book’s Hebrew
title means “the words (affairs) of the days,” i.e., the annals of Israel from Adam to
the Babylonian captivity and Cyrus’s decree allowing the exiled Jews to return. In
a sense it is a “miniature Old Testament,” tracing in capsule form the flow of O.T.
history.
Authorship Though not specified by name in the book, Ezra has traditionally
been assumed to be the author. Unquestionably, he used sources in compiling the
book, including prophetic records by Samuel (1 Chron. 29:29), Isaiah (2 Chron.
32:32), and others (2 Chron. 9:29; 12:15; 20:34; 33:19); but particularly a source
called “the Book of the Kings of Judah and Israel” (2 Chron. 16:11; 25:26).
However, this is not the canonical 1 and 2 Kings, but likely some earlier court
record.
Purpose Ezra, who led a group of exiles back to Palestine in 458, was concerned
about building a true spiritual foundation for the people. To further that purpose
he evidently compiled the Chronicles in order to emphasize the importance of
racial and religious purity, the proper place of the law, the Temple, and the
priesthood. Thus he omits detailed activities of the kings and prophets, stressing
instead the rich heritage of the people and the blessing of their covenant
relationship to God.
6. Contents First Chronicles is heavily weighed with genealogies, and focuses on
the reign of King David. Important sections include the statement of the great
covenant with David (17:11-14) and David’s magnificent prayer of praise in 29:10-
