 Raja rao’s novel Kanthapura is the most
powerful of the portraying the impact of the
Gandhian
Movement on the Indian people.
 Gandhi’s civil movement comes to this remote
scheduled village.

Moorthy ,the central character, a young educated man , comes from
the city with the message of
mahatma.
Moorthy goes from door to door, even the to the pariah quarter of the
villagers the significance of the gandhiji’s struggle for freedom.

Moorthy is progressive enough to go to pariah quarters, eat
with them and talk with the pariah.
But, after every interaction
with the pariahs, when we wants to enter rangamma’s house
he asks her whether he could get into her house as he has
