Nimesulide uses
1. Nimesulide Uses
Nimesulide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which means it provides analgesic
(pain-killing) and antipyretic(fever-reducing) effects. Nimesulide is mostly used for treatment of
short-term pain(Acute), joint pain (osteoarthritis), period pains (Primary dysmennorhea), Chronic
pains and many.
Acute Pain: starts suddenly and usually feels sharp. Broken bones, burns, or cuts are examples of
acute pain. Acute pain lasts just a moment or it may last for weeks or months. Some times it may
also lead to Chronic pain (long-term pain)
Eg of Chronic pains:
Headache
Low back pain
Cancer pain
Arthritis pain
Pain caused by nerve damage
Nimesulide shows positve reaction in the treatment of several painful situations with an acute
inflammatory component including primary dysmenorrhea because of the rapid onset of the
analgesic action. which Nimesulide shows meaningful reductions observed within 15 minutes from
drug intake.
Osteoarthritis: It is most common in middle-aged and older people, and its symptoms can range
from very mild to very severe it mostly affects hands and weight-bearing joints such as Knees, hips,
feet and the back, but can affect almost any joint in the body.
Joint pains mostly caused due to Obesity, Injury, Heridity, Joint overuse(Over use of any joint like
repeated bending of knees), and most common cause is Age
Nimesulide ease pain and make it favorable in the treatment of joint diseases. A clinical study has
been carried out with patients suffering from join pains. This study has proved efficacy and
tolerability in patients.
Primary dysmennorhea: It shows pain in lower abdomen which is very common problem in
young women ((occurring in the absence of pelvic pathology).
Nimesulide is useful in the treatment of pain associated with primary dismenorrhea. Nimesuldie
alleviates pain within 30 min. The drug changes the painful state of uterine contracture to painless
cyclic contractions.
