Sophie received feedback on her trailer from 5 viewers. The positive feedback noted that the metronome and numbers were well linked and the theme was consistent. However, the negative feedback pointed out that the transition between scenes was too long, the audio in the first scene was unnecessary, the footsteps were out of sync, and the voiceover was too quiet. Sophie learned that more planning is needed for filming, unnecessary elements like the first scene's audio should be removed, transitions should be faster, and audio levels require more attention. Overall she was happy the viewers would recommend the film and found the feedback valuable for improving future trailers.

Evaluation Question 2
1. QUESTION 2- WHAT DID
YOU LEARN FROM YOUR
AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?
Sophie potter
2. Positive Feedback
“I like the metronome, I think that’s linked in with the poster very well”
“I like the numbers and how you have linked them through without making it
too obvious”
“Used the same conventions in both and its consistent throughout”
“You’ve clearly got the same psychological theme running throughout”
3. What I found out from the negative
feedback
“The slow motion on the metronome is too slow moving onto the next scene”
Looking back at the trailer I do agree with this statement as the transition is quite long, however I do
think it works as I believe that it helps to create suspicion and tension for the audience.
“Cut the audio from the first scene”
Looking back at the trailer I do not agree with this statement. I understand where the viewer is
coming from as the scene is very corny however we made it this was to exaggerate the relationship
between the characters to help us make a connection with our audience.
“Feet are out of sync, could of set them to a ticking rhythm”
Looking at the trailer I can see that the feet are our of sync however it is very hard to get a person to
walk at the same speed in two different environments. I also think that the point about setting them
to a ticking rhythm is a very good idea and I think it would of made this part of the trailer better.
“Make the voiceover louder”
When listening to the audio I do think that it is too quiet and I do think it would benefit us more if we
had turned it up more.
4. What I have learnt.
The first thing that I have learnt from the audience feedback is that we should have planned more for when we was
filming. I learnt this from when Megan picked up on the quality of the audio within the first scene. I think that as a
group we rushed our filming too much and in turn it shows in the quality of some of the scenes such as the car scene.
Our lack of preparation also showed when Charlie picked up on the out of sync footsteps of the two characters.
Another thing that I learnt from our audience feedback is that the first scene of the trailer can be quite distracting for
the viewer, this was shown when Natalie said that it would be better for the audio to be taken off. I think that if this
step had been taken more mystery would have been added to the scene making the trailer more eerie.
Furthermore, I also learnt that some of our transitions made the scene too long. Leanne pointed this out when she spoke
about how the transition between the metronome scenes was too long. Looking back at the trailer I can now see
that the transition is too long for the part of the trailer that she is referring to and if I could re-do the trailer I would
make it faster to match the trailer conventions of our genre which is for the trailer to consist of fast cuts between
scenes.
5. Conclusion
Overall looking at the audience feedback that we received I am very happy as 5/5 of our viewers said that
they would recommend the film to a friend. I was also happy that all of the viewers think that the ancillary
texts link with the trailer as this was a main concern of mine. I think that the positive and negative comments
have all been taken on board and will help me when creating future trailers .
I feel that through this feedback I have learnt a lot about creating trailers as at the beginning of the
production process I thought that creating the trailer would be simple but I have learnt that it takes a lot
more effort and preparation. The main thing that I have learnt is that planning is key to the success of your
final product, I found that if you do not plan enough you can easily feel rushed.
A good example of this is the first scene in our trailer, I do not believe that we planned this scene enough
and because of this the scene has bad quality audio and could also be viewed as too corny for some of our
viewers. Alongside this the first scene could give the wrong impression to the viewer and make them think
that it is a romance film which may have the bad effect of them not watching the video.
