![Anyone else out there take morphine on a regular basis? I
take 100 mg 3 times a day and have for about 2 months now
for pain control. Does anyone have any help for the nausea
that it can cause? I am on the verge of throwing up a lot of
the time. Any help?

o Talk with your doctor about your side-effects. Hydration is extremely important, especially if you
are vomiting.
o Rest after eating to help your digestion, but be careful not to lie flat for a couple of hours after
eating.
o If you feel nauseous, practice relaxation techniques and zofran birth defects statistics other types
of soothing distractions. Don't assume that s/he'll take you off your pain medication, especially if its
working.
What other types of narcotics have you tried? Is morphine the only one that 'really' helps? What
about Percocet, Darvon, or OxyContin especially in higher doses?
I'd go as far to discuss medical marijuana with the doctor. Medications, called antiemetics, can help
reduce or prevent nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing chemotherapy. Chew food well, and
eat food either cold or at room temperature. Have food prepared outside the home or

before eating.
o Avoid very spicy or acidic foods on an empty stomach. YOU are the one having it! Don't be bullied

the correct decisions you need to make, get supported by a team of your choice (don't forget you can
do that), and do whatever is necessary one-step-at-a-time.
