2. It is often said that some places have a soul. Yet how can it be revealed?
For the second opus of its collection Les Exclusifs, Scentys has chosen to work with a new abstract theme: The Light.
Indeed light, just as fragrance, helps to sublimate some places and to give them some depth. A few wavelengths, a touch of vibes are
all it takes to change the soul of a place, just like a single drop of perfume can trigger an emotion.
To work off this new theme, Scentys took inspiration from Japan, a country with a radically different approach to light. Westerners like
what glitters and bright light, whereas the Japanese worship shade and material which absorbs light.
Scentys offers you a journey in the shade where only perfume guides you, bewilders you so to better disarm you, thus revealing what
makes your uniqueness: your soul.
3. “What I like about creating signature scents is the ability to use the best
traditional ingredients and the finest fragrances available for a given space.
In terms of quality, it is a deeply satisfying experience for me.”
Antoine Lie, senior perfumer for Takasago
4. 6 fragrances available…in a single copy
Being able to acquire an exclusive signature scent, greeting a note, making it your own and letting it blossom.
These six unique fragrances will be withdrawn from the collection as soon as they are chosen by a client.
A way to sublimate a dedicated space.
A renewed collaboration with Antoine Lie for this second edition
Senior perfumer for Takasago, passionate and demanding, Antoine Lie is the creator entrusted by Scentys with the task of elaborating signature scents.
From his experience in fine fragrance at Givaudan and today at Takasago, he refines his free and direct formulation by contrasting unexpected
notes: hot, cold, sensual and spiritual scents.
From his taste for travelling and for gastronomy, he has developed a special liking for spices which he likes to combine with woody and
leathery notes.
Antoine Lie joined in the spirit of this new theme and enjoyed contrasting Japanese material in order to highlight his interpretation of
Japanese aesthetic.
5. Haitian vetiver
Australian & Indonesian sandalwood
Gaïac wood
Oudh wood
Atlas cedar
Somali incense
Osmanthus flower
6. “Lacquer ware decorated in gold is not
something to be seen in a brilliant light, to
be taken in at a single glance; it should be
left in the dark. (…) The sheen of the
lacquer, set out in the night, reflects the
wavering candlelight, announcing the
drafts that find their way from time to time
into the quiet room, luring one into a state
of reverie.”
In Praise of Shadows, Junichiro Tanizaki
Depth, texture, material…
No less than seven precious woods were successively assembled to recreate the
mysterious perfume of lacquer, seven different woods as layers necessary to obtain
a perfect sheen.
Inhaling this fragrant scent is like merging into a twilight zone, observing oneself by
introspection, guessing one’s own image through the thickness of the lacquer and
gazing curiously upon one’s dark side.

8. “In the moonlight
I leave my boat
to reach the sky”
Kôda Rohan (1867-1947)
A moon ray on an iridescent pearl.
A fragrance somewhere between sky and ocean...
The elders believed that shellfish were fertilized to the sound of thunder, when
small droplets of water fell from the sky and reached the sea. The moon then did
its job: under its kindly brightness, the pearls started to fill out and take on perfect
elliptical forms.
A fragrance of a subdued light evocative of the contemplation of the sea under the
moonlight, when evening flowers and sea-sprays kiss each other under a slivery light.
MOON PEARL
10. “On this spring day when nature’s life
bursts from everywhere…”
Beauty and Sadness, Kawabata
In the heart of Kyoto, a century-old garden blurs the rectangular layout of the city
with the naturel outline of its mosses, stones and maples carefully arranged by
art-minded gardeners.
A branch catches the light and projects its timely shade on the path. The air is
filled with a sweet flower perfume brought back to life by the cool shade.
Azaleas, magnolias and lichens give off their sensual fragrances reminiscent of
those left behind by a geisha; as fragile as the green varnish a celadon.
CELADON SHADE
12. Tubular neon lights and multi-coloured halos flood the casino entrance; a phlegmatic
though courteous android greets the regular customers.
At the second door, a second shock: the deafening din of balls thrown at high
speed in slot machines. It is Japan by night, full of sound and light, a multi-faceted
beam of LEDs which hypnotize the highly agitated gamblers and lead them to more
potential than artificial heavens.
An uncommon and electric fragrance devised to give a modern touch to any lit-up
space with its phosphorescent beams.
ANDROID LED
14. “Hervé Joncourt had never seen that
woman, and in fact he did not see her that
night. In the dark room, he felt the beauty of
her body, and he discovered her hands and
her mouth. He loved her for hours, using
gestures he never made before; she taught
him to take his time, something he did not
know. In the darkness, living her or not
meant nothing. A little before dawn, the
young woman rose, put on her white kimono
and left.”
Silk, Alessandro Baricco
Traditionally, kimono means “something one wears”, a richly wrought ceremonial
costume. But the ornamental aspect become more important than the aesthetic
aspect, and little by little, the kimono fell into oblivion; abandoned by the body it
became a decorative object.
Hang a kimono in a room, and it soon lights up as if space was inhabited. Feel as
shine, imagine its almost carnal smell… A few rectangles of folded silk are enough
to make you feel an imaginary presence.
The fragrance has the same power; thanks to its floral and sensual harmony, it
weaves an invisible link like a silk thread and wraps up a place in a radiant halo.

15. Black vs red hot chilli pepper
Liquorice versus everlasting flower
Hinoki wood on Sandal wood
16. “When he received the black oak sabre,Takezo
neverwentwithoutit.Thesimplefactofholding
it in his hands gave him great pleasure. He
often held the handle tight or ran the outer
edge on the palm of his hand in order to feel
the perfect proportion of its curve. He kept
it very close to him while sleeping. The cool
contact of the wood against his cheek
reminded him of the floor of the dojo where
he had practised the sabre techniques during
the winters. This almost perfect instrument
awakened in him the fighting spirit he had
inherited from his father.”
The Stone and the Sabre, Eiji Yoshikawa
Early in his life, the young samurai was subjected to a very strict education deprived
of affection and comfort he was very early trained on the art of war.
Cowardice, weakness and fear of the dead were as despicable as the fear of the
living. The sabre, its blade of honour, than became its only ally.
A fragrance which expresses the courage and violence of the young apprentice,
when the disciples had to fight at night-fall without any light in order to learn how
to control their fears.
BLACK SABRE
17. A MOMENT OF INCENSE
A modern incense made of nutmeg and clary
sage interacting at the rhythm of a metronome.
A regular vibration that makes woods quiver like
an irregular light.
VETIVERSION
An unrefined and noble vetiver powerful enough
to reverse the effects of time while travelling
through space owing to its spicy heart.
HEDONIC ROSE
The dual aspects of the rose: thorns of leather and
silver birch are weapons to defend a fragile and
delicate floral heart.
A pure and noble May rose with a modern leathery
base note.
IRIS SHOOT
A bright and sunny iris which makes time irrelevant.
A harmony in motion where fruits and citrus take
on a powdered base note.
LEATHER POWDER
A leather which has kept its character, but swapped
its animal notes for a very topical sophistication.
An elegant, soft and iridescent leather.
NARCISSUS ON THE EDGE OF TIME
A majestic, beautiful Narcissus in a plant-like
environment. A dazzling harmony of watery, green
notes boding well for eternal youth.
LES EXCLUSIFS SEASON I: TIME
Since time is closely connected to the notion of space, les Exclusifs explore this imaginary theme. Time is an intangible and fleeting notion while space
is a concrete, tangible and finite concept.
