  4. 4. Introduction • Corona virus are a family of viruses that can cause respiratory illness in humans. They are called “CORONA” because of grown-like spikes on the surface of the virus. • Severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS) Middle east respiratory syndrome(MERS) and the common cold are examples of corona viruses that cause illness in humans. • The new strain of coronavirus-SARS-COV-2 was first reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019.It has since spread to every country around the world.
  5. 5. • SARS-COV-19 the virus that causes COVID-19 enters your body through your mouth, nose or eyes.(Directly from the airborne droplets or from the transfer of the virus from your hands to your face).It then travels to the back of your nasal passages and mucus membrane in the back of your throat. • The COVID-19 pandemic has led to a dramatic loss of human life worldwide and presents an unprecedented challenge to public health, food systems and the world of work. The economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic is devastating:
  6. 6. Impact on agriculture The pandemic has been affecting the entire food system and has laid bare its fragility. Border closures, trade restrictions and confinement measures have been preventing farmers from accessing markets, including for buying inputs and selling their produce, and agricultural workers from harvesting crops, thus disrupting domestic and international food supply chains and reducing access to healthy, safe and diverse diets. The pandemic has decimated jobs and placed millions of livelihoods at risk. As breadwinners lose jobs, fall ill and die, the food
  7. 7. Food security In the COVID-19 crisis food security, public health, and employment and labour issues, in particular workers’ health and safety, converge. Adhering to workplace safety and health practices and ensuring access to decent work and the protection of labour rights in all industries will be crucial in addressing the human dimension of the crisis. Immediate and purposeful action to save lives and livelihoods should include extending social protection towards universal health coverage and income

Global situation • The past year has been one of the toughest in recent history, due to the harsh health, economic and social impacts of the COVID-19 crisis. • The economy of many low-income countries have been hit. Gallup and Sachs analyze the relationship between poverty and COVID-19. • In developing countries, the COVID-19 crisis has not affected everyone equally. Top economists warn COVID-19 impacts will be severe and long lasting for developing countries. • Indian’s $2.9 trillion economy remains shattered during the lockdown period, except for some essential services and activities. There is a
  9. 9. • Countries dealing with existing humanitarian crises or emergencies are particularly exposed to the effects of COVID-19. Responding swiftly to the pandemic, while ensuring that humanitarian and recovery assistance reaches those most in need, is critical. • Now is the time for global solidarity and support, especially with the most vulnerable in our societies, particularly in the emerging and developing world. Only together can we overcome the intertwined health and social and economic impacts of the pandemic and

The COVID-19 pandemic disrupted and displaced many long- accepted practices in government management and operations and almost overnight forced a shift to online processes and digital technologies. It also changed how and where many municipal employees do their work. This change has unlocked opportunities to build a new civic future. • The impact of corona virus pandemic on India has been largely disruptive in terms of economic
  11. 11. • As per the official data released by the ministry of statistics and program implementation, the Indian economy contracted by 7.3% in the April- June quarter of the 2021 fiscal year. • This has been the worst decline ever observed since the ministry had started compiling GDP stats since 1996. • The Government extended their help to migrant workers who returned to their native places during the second wave of Corona. • India’s $2.9 trillion economy remains shuttered during the lockdown period, except for some essential services and activities. A long-lasting impact has been created by the notorious COVID19 from which it will many months to recover if not years. Conclusion • It is heartbreaking to look back at the disastrous 2 years of this pandemic , but still its glad to have everything get back to their normal self. • The corona virus disease continues to spread across the world following a trajectory that is difficult to predict. The health , humanitarian and socio-economic policies adopted by countries will determine the speed and strength of the recovery. • So let us all join our hands in the making of new era!!
