Reading – All My Birthday Gifts
“Wow, I am so lucky! Mum, look at all my gifts.” I cried out with great excitement as we
both stood beside the large pile of gifts I had received.
“Yes, you are a very lucky girl, Fazirah” my mum replied. The presents neatly sat on the
table so the guests could see.
“Mum, can I open them now, please?” I begged mum. She told me to wait until after
the party. She said that when all the guests had left, then we would sit down together
and open the presents.
The presents were not the only part of the party. We also had lots of games and food to
entertain our guests. We played musical chairs, pass the parcel and pin the tail on the
monkey.
The guests love playing games, especially when they got presents for winning. Every
winning guest got a present but so did every guest at the party. Before the party, we
made these great party bags for all the guests to take home with them. Inside we had
put a drink, a snack and a great little toy.
As the party finished and the guests left, I got all excited all over again. Because now I
knew, I could open the presents. I helped my mother and aunty clean the house and
then stood by the table to wait for mum to come and watch.
She finished washing the last glass and then came over to the table with the camera.
“Okay, Fazirah, you can open the presents now.”
