(Leanne’s is challenge 1, parachute jumps for Scope) Lily Graham (16) is on her final year at BrooksbankSports College. Lily is the Project Manager for the Multiple Sclerosis Challenge. (Challenge will be to organise a ‘Total Wipeout’ competition) 6
The Charities As there are six members within the ‘Sticklers’, the Group decided that there should be six challenges for six different charities. Each of the charities must have a specific interest or link to each Group member. As at the time of writing this ‘Plan’, we have chosen to support the following charities: Challenge 1 – Scope; Scope is a charity that supports disabled people and their families (www.scope.org.uk) Challenge 2 – Multiple Sclerosis Trust; The MS Trust is a UK charity, providing information for anyone affected by multiple sclerosis, education programmes for health professionals, funding for practical research and campaigning for specialist multiple sclerosis services (www.mstrust.org.uk) Challenge 3 – Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Charity (SANDS); Supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives (www.uk-sands.org) Challenge 4 – Help for HeroesHelp for Heroes is a charity formed to help those who have been wounded in Britain's current conflicts (www.helpforheroes.org.uk) Challenge 5 – National Autistic Society; the leading UK charity for people with autism (including Asperger Syndrome) and their families providing information, supportand pioneering services, and campaign for a better world for people with autism.(www.autism.org.uk) Challenge 6 - Transaid; Tackling poverty and disadvantage by building transport skills & knowledge in the developing world. (www.transaid.org) The Challenges The challenges themselves will range in difficulty; some easier to undertake than others. They will be based on the ‘earth, wind and fire’ principal, for example; the first challenge (tandem parachute jumps) will be based on ‘wind’, the second challenge (when chosen) will be based on the ground (‘earth’), the third challenge may involve heat or similar (‘fire’). Then the three remaining challenges will again be based on the same principal. Whilst Challenges 2-6 have yet to be designed, Challenge 1 will be a tandem parachute jump over Bridlington Airfield, East Yorkshire. All six Group members will be undertaking the jumps from an altitude of 10000 ft. 7
Challenge Locations Challenge 1; the tandem parachute jumps, will take place on Saturday 11th July 2011, at SkydiveGB, East Leys Farm, Grindale Road, Bridlington, East Yorkshire, YO16 4YB. Skydive GB, based between the Yorkshire coast Resorts of Bridlington, and Scarborough.  They are Yorkshire's Skydiving Centre. Bridlington is one of the oldest established parachute centres in the UK, dating back to 1972 and the earliest recorded jump going back to Harry Ward in 1935 whom was famous as ‘The Yorkshire Birdman’.  You will be most welcome to come and observe us, but make sure you bring your purses, wallets and chequebooks with you so you can add just that little bit more to your sponsorship and donations for Scope. At the time of writing this ‘Plan’, no details are available with respect to Challenges 2-5. However, the Stainland Sticklers are currently discussing plans to undertake a ‘Total Wipe-Out’ (as per the BBC1 TV programme) for one of the challenges, as well as for all six to appear on a TV quiz/challenge show for another challenge. All winnings would be pledged to the charity for those challenges. We welcome ideas and suggestions from readers of this plan for other challenges to be undertaken. 8
9 Advance Support, Sponsorship. Donations, Advertising & Marketing These challenges are events intended to raise funds for the six charities as previously described. The funds will come from a combination of individual sponsorship through families, friends, colleagues, students, etc., as well as the result of a combination of smaller events; such as boot sales, village fairs, street collections (subject to licence) and so on. In addition, there will be ‘profile and viral’ advertising in various forms. By this, we include articles and editorials in local newspapers, general networking, trade and professional publications (online & hard copy), social media networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Viadeo, Ecademy and others.. Further media interest will be sought through local radio stations, local TV stations, other online media and some poster and flyer advertising. Collecting boxes for the first charity (Scope) are already being distributed to a selection of retail and other outlets with Scope stickers being given out as well, in addition to other Scope and charity merchandise. The charities themselves will assist in marketing the challenges by means of inclusion on their respective websites and other media where appropriate. A high percentage of the sponsorship, donations and support will come from business, industry and commerce, where many SME businesses will be approached, as well as the largest of UK based companies. They are also being approached to assist with the various costs associated to the challenges. Section 7(a) sets out the advance financial & other support that is currently sought, whether they be from businesses, companies or individuals. But it would be fair to state that the overall target to be raised on challenge 1 is £15000. Donations can be made online by going to www.stainland-sticklers.com or www.stainlandsticklers.eventbrite.com, by e-mail to stainlandsticklers@yahoo.com, or by writing to the address as shown in Section 2 of this Plan. Stainland Sticklers has a page on Facebook and the Group will shortly have a Twitter, Linkedin and Ecademy page, as well as a few other networking sites.
10 7(a)	Advance Financial & Other Support Rather than just being a local challenge for charity, we have chosen to create the day we undertake challenge 1 as a high profile event, with the hope of raising greater awareness of Scope and to create a opportunity to raise more money for them. The result is that we are looking for not just sponsorship for the 'jumpers' to do the challenge, but also for financial assistance in organising the day itself. In order to be more explicit, we are seeking the following: 1) £750 (ASAP) to cover an overnight stay for the Stainland Sticklers Group2) £1000 (ASAP) to cover the cost of a liveried minibus for the 'jumpers' 3) £5000 (ASAP) to cover the cost of a celebrity to "welcome" the 'jumpers' as they land on terra firma 4) £1800 (on the day) to cover the actual cost to the jump school/airfield for the jump itself 5) £ 600 (on the day) to cover the costs of parachute/event photography ((if any of these items are discounted or accrue "change", then the difference (with donors agreement) will be included in total amount raised for Scope.)) In return for any of the above support, we will be pleased to include some space (including logos) on the website when it goes live, mention in some editorials in trade & public and local media (subject to permissions), freestanding advertising at the airfield, and trade/public 'thanks' for support. Also, of course, donors will be more than welcome to observe the jump and peripheral event itself.   At this stage, the Stainland Sticklers are very grateful to Purple Penguin Media (www.purplepenguinmedia.co.uk) for donating the professional design and the hosting of the Stainland Sticklers website, which is hoped to go ‘live’ at the end of January 2011. For details on how to offer advance support, sponsor the ‘Stainland Sticklers’ or to donate to the challenge charities, please refer to Section 10
Events & Celebrities Each challenge will be a reasonably high profile event. By that we mean that there will be TV and radio media involvement local and professional/trade press, use of social and business networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, etc, the Stainland Sticklers own website, ranking on Google and other search engines, small local events leading up to the challenge day and the challenge days themselves, which are intended to invite sponsors, supporters, local communities (where applicable) to watch the events, as well as being a trade networking event for the businesses and companies that have supported that event. It is also intended that each event will be visited by a well known celebrity so as to increase the profile of the Stainland Sticklers. By increasing the profile of the ‘Sticklers’ the profile of the event charity is also increased, thereby being able to raise greater awareness and funds for that charity. 11 How to give Advance Support, Donate and/or Sponsor the Stainland Sticklers and its Chosen charities Go to www.stainland-sticklers.com or www.stainlandsticklers.eventbrite.com. 7
  • 9. 9 Advance Support, Sponsorship.
  • 10. 10 7(a) Advance Financial & Other Support Rather than just being a local challenge for charity, we have chosen to create the day we undertake challenge 1 as a high profile event, with the hope of raising greater awareness of Scope and to create a opportunity to raise more money for them.
