Hard Work

  1. 1. Hard Work is Your Foundation "Beware of the man who does not translate his words into deeds." Theodore Roosevelt Have you ever recognized an individual who seemed to know every thing about everything but had never really accomplished anything? There was no hard work to back up the bold talk! They usually have an opinion on how some thing must be done and if your opinion happens to differ, it is immediately incorrect! When it comes to really performing whatever it may be,though, practically nothing ever takes place. These are the guys that will talk all day long, but no one actually listens to them since there's no fruit on the tree, no worthwhile results. I definitely knew someone exactly like this when I was in college. He constantly "knew" the top teachers to take, courses to enroll in and best approaches of obtaining passing grades. Nevertheless, when it came to the end of the year, he was the only 1 that had flunked out of school. The problem was he never made an effort to attend class, show up for the tests or turn in any work. He spent the majority of his days just sitting in his room working on models. The interesting part, though, was that he was really shocked when he learned he couldn't return to school! Don't be that guy! The Truth About Hard Work Don't fool yourself into thinking that anything worthwhile is going to come effortlessly or with out the pre-requisite of moving off the couch and pursuing it. Just know that hard and persistent work will absolutely have to be invested into any venture that you want any legitimate long-term results from. Did you see that word "invest"? Your time and work are an investment! You've got to see it that way or you won't put in the required work to excel. It can't be a mindset of just logging hours or putting in time. It has to be an investment simply because of the fact that you WILL reap the rewards of your efforts in the future (Hopefully the near future!). This is particularly true when you're able to apply your investment of hard work to a system that re-produces itself! Did you know that the most common denominator for mastery of a skill, no matter the activity, is a time commitment or practice committment of 10,000 hours. As soon as that level has been achieved, wouldn't it make sense that mastery has occurred and achievement is bound to take place. It's inevitable! An example of that was when the Beatles had been progressing through the musical ranks. As they launched their playing career, they scheduled gigs wherever they could. Most of the initial locations they played were across the channel from England and required playing all evening
  2. 2. instead of just a few hours or sets, like the clubs near their home. So, instead of just playing the few songs they had of their own, they had learn and master a large number of music from other artists. Consequently, there degree of mastery occurred rapidly along with their musical growth. Have You Put in Consistent, Hard Work How About You? • Have you devoted the period of time necessary to attain any semblance of mastery? • Have you put in the hard work? • Are you currently prepared to? "Sitting still and wishing makes no person great, the good Lord sends the fishing , but you must dig the bait." Unknown Author We truly must get out and get our hands dirty, this could be figuratively or literally. We should be jumping in the arena and taking the knocks and lumps that are part of the learning process. It is just as important for others to see and experience us undergoing the trials as it is for us to encounter them. When others see us strive and work, it offers us many rewards: • Greater credibility as we move toward knowledge. • Men and women will learn to trust us by watching us grow • It allows you to earn respect, not merely from and for yourself but from others. • Others are able to see that good results didn't just appear, but from consistent effort • Earn the ability to teach others-- hopefully to not just work hard but smart, too. "Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven't planted." David Bly Every Goal Begins with a Dream You will need a dream as a target or you will have have absolutely nothing to shoot for (What would be the point?). Subsequently, you'll need progressive goals as intermediate steps in the pursuit of your dream. These are the actions along the way that point you in the appropriate direction and keep you moving toward the dream. But it really is the work that tends to make all of these things occur. Then take that work and implement a system that allows for effective duplication. Without the "hard work" invested, a dream is just a wish!
  3. 3. The objectives do not matter due to the fact nothing at all is being achieved. Be willing to do the work! Enjoy what you do and the effort becomes a labor of love. Your destiny is in your hands! Take hold of it and make the most of it. Whenever you control the effort, you control the benefits. "Opportunity usually shows up disguised in overalls."
