As I lumber through My Einstein Job (http://myeinsteinjob.blogspot.ca/), I'm learning more about what it means to Lead an Open Life.
This presentation is dedicated to what I consider to be the principles of Leading an Open Life. It is a living document and I encourage people to challenge the views and offer their perspectives.
So, please, don't hesitate to offer your thoughts on my thoughts so we can make better thoughts :-)
1. The Principles for Leading an Open Life
Be true with your intentions and make sure
those you deal with are aware of them.
...and if your intentions change, make sure
people know they have changed.
2. The Principles for Leading an Open Life
Divulging details is not always the answer
to being Open.
...especially when it involves the
interactions you may have had with others.
3. The Principles for Leading an Open Life
Being Open is an innate, and pure quality.
...and people are easily attracted to that
quality.
4. The Principles for Leading an Open Life
Don't be lazy with the language you use.
...clarity is VERY important because people
can easily misinterpret your words.
5. The Principles for Leading an Open Life
Making mistakes and starting over is ok, just
don't hide those mistakes.
...wear them like a badge.
Otherwise, you risk someone else learning
about them and asking you questions that
will test your credibility.
6. The Principles for Leading an Open Life
Don't blindside individuals.
...nobody likes being ambushed, and the
expected response is sure to be unfavourable.
7. The Principles for Leading an Open Life
Joking around in an Open World is very
delicate.
…and typically best left to comedians.
8. The Principles for Leading an Open Life
More often than not, being Open is about
taking the High Road.
...and more often than not, taking the High
Road goes unrewarded.
But, as C.S. Lewis once said: "Integrity is
doing the right thing, even when no one is
watching."
