Lesson learnt
MakrÚh (abominable) acts in saláh
- To omit the acts in prayer will not cause our saláh to be invalid but we will get less
reward from the prayer.
1. To omit one of the wajibat intentionally
2. Moving without any excusable reason
- We should not move a lot in prayer, just try to stay still
- Movement must be minimize to the minimum movement.
- Moving more than 3 time continuously does not mean our prayer is already nullified.
- If someone see we move a lot and cannot say we are praying so, this will consider the
saláh is already nullified.
3. To close the eyes
- It is allowed to do so if the condition is too uncomfortable to achieve the tranquility in
saláh.
4. To look away from one spot of one’s prostration
- The more we look away, the less the concentration in the prayer
5. To pray while in need for going to the bathroom
- Our body will suffer the pain of urge to go to the bathroom causing the saláh to be in
rushing state.
6. Yawning
- Use one hand to close the open mouth
7. To spread the forearms on the ground
8. To dress untidily
- This is the time we want to ask for god’s help and forgiveness so, we must do anything to
please him.
9. To wear clothes that carries distracting designs or images
- Our saláh is consider not perfect if we are distracting other people to do their prayer.
10. To wear tight clothes
- This type of clothes will limit the movement of a person in saláh causing an
uncomfortable situation.
MUBAH (PERMISSIBLE) ACTS IN SALAH
1. To pray behind a human who is praying or sitting down.
- It is allowed as long as the person in front of us is not disturbing our concentration in the
saláh.
2. To move and take action in order to remove an imminent harm
- The method to remove the harm must be the most less movement and effective.
3. To assist the Imām if he makes a mistakes
- Make sure we also remember the Surah
- Recite the Surah in the intention to do Zikr.
4. To respond to the salām by raising the hand
- Raise only a little just to give response to the salām.
5. To respond to a caller by sign
- Saying out Zikr out loud just to inform him/her we are performing a saláh
The etiquette of saláh
The difference between men and women in regard to saláh
No. The recommendations of the Fuqahā based on multiple
accounts in the Sunnah
Proved by Hadith
1. Women cover their entire body except for the face, hands and the feet
and men cover between the navel and the knees.

2. Men raise their hands to their ears and women to their shoulders. NO
3. Men spread their hands out in Sujūd and women bring them to their
sides.

4. Women bring their stomachs close to their thighs, and men don’t. NO
5. In the sitting position, women bring their knees close to each other
and men spread it out.

6. Women sit on their heels and men sit on their left foot and prop up
their right foot.

7. To correct the Imām’s mistake, men say “subhāAllāh” and women
clap with the hands.

How to achieve Khushū in Salah
- The only effective ways to achieve Khushū in Salah is we, ourselves in thinking that this
is the time we meet with our creator.
- Creating the feeling of shame and humble as Allah’s servants by our own desire.
- Try to reach the real meaning of life with Allah by our side.
