Believe in yourself!

  1. 1. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! October 2015 Character Education
  2. 2. DRSL’S  What: Believing in yourself  Why: Critical Thinking/Problem Solving, Lifelong Learning, Communication, Responsible Citizen
  3. 3. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!  “The biggest difference I’ve noticed between successful people and unsuccessful people isn’t intelligence or opportunity or resources. It’s the belief that they can make their goals happen.” --James Clear Adapted from: Believe in Yourself (And Why Nothing Will Work If You Don’t…)
  4. 4. WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE?
  5. 5. DO YOU BELIEVE THAT CHANGE IS POSSIBLE FOR YOU?  One of the most important beliefs that you can instill is that you can become better.  Believe that it is possible for human beings to improve. Believe that it is possible to raise the bar in your own life even if the world around you accepts average. Believe in yourselves and in each other. Believe that if you want better health or more happiness or better grades that you can make those things happen.
  6. 6. DO YOU BELIEVE THAT CHANGE IS POSSIBLE FOR YOU?  Because of this belief, be willing to test, experiment, and try new things even when you feel uncertain. If you don’t believe that it’s possible to make new things work, then it’s hard to make any progress. I don’t care how good the ideas are, nothing will work for you if you don’t believe in it. And more importantly, nothing will work if you don’t believe in yourself.
  7. 7. ASK YOURSELF…  Is what I’m doing working for me? Am I getting the results I want?  If yes… continue what you’re doing!  If no… then change it!
  8. 8. HOW CAN I CHANGE?  If you need to make a change in your life… Find someone to talk to you trust.  Brainstorm ideas for possible solutions and change.  Don’t shoot down every idea given!  Try, try, try!  Trial and error is part of life. If one thing doesn’t work…. Go for plan B… or C… or D… Just keep trying!!!
  9. 9. ARE YOU DETERMINED TO FAIL?  The biggest difference between successful people and unsuccessful ones (in health, in school, work, and in life) is that successful people are determined to make the situation work for them rather than seeing themselves as a victim and searching for reasons why a situation won’t work.  Don’t make excuses to keep things the same.
  10. 10. OR ARE YOU DETERMINED TO SUCCEED?  No idea will work for every person on the planet, but many ideas can work for most people … if you believe that you can make them work. You have to be willing to not just think differently, but to also to experiment with new ideas and trust that you’ll discover a way to make them work.
  11. 11. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF  When I’ve discovered an opportunity that sounds awesome but that I’m not qualified for (which happens often), I trust that I’ll figure it out and go for it anyway.  I believe in myself. This confidence has made the difference for me again and again. I didn’t need intelligence or opportunity or resources. Just a simple belief in myself. -- James Clear
