Dreaming is a form of mental activity, different from waking thought, that occurs during sleep. The
nature of dream activity has been characterized by many clinical and laboratory studies. These
studies show that dreams are more perceptual than conceptual: Things are seen and heard rather than
thought. In terms of the senses, visual experience is present in almost all dreams; auditory experience
in 40 to 50 percent; and touch, taste, smell, and pain in a relatively small percentage. A considerable
amount of emotion is commonly present–usually a single, stark emotion such as fear, anger, or joy

Thus, two clearly distinguishable states of sleep exist. The first state, called S–synchronized sleep,
or NREM–sleep, occupies most of the sleep period and is associated with a relatively low pulse
and blood pressure, little activation of the autonomic nervous system, and few or no reports of
dreaming. The second type of sleep, known as D–sleep, or REM–sleep, occurs cyclically during the
sleep period and is characterized by activation of the autonomic nervous system, rapid eye
movements, and frequent dream reports. Typically, a person has four or five periods of D–sleep
during the night, whether the dreams are remembered often, rarely, or not at all; they occur at
intervals of about 90 minutes and altogether constitute about 25 percent of the night's sleep.
Evidence indicates that a dream period usually lasts from 5 to 20 minutes.
Such stimuli as sounds and touches impinging on a dreamer can be incorporated into a dream if
they occur during a D–period. These stimuli, however, do not initiate a D–period if one is not
already in progress, so that, at least in such cases, dreams do not protect sleep in the way that Freud

Dreaming of birds was also a sign from the gods. Birds symbolize different types of people. Birds
also had an important meaning in a dream to the Greeks. For instance, eagles stood for powerful
men and women, and pigeons of mean women (Holroyd 56). The Greeks thoughts and ideas
about dreams gave the people of today their basis for figure out just what dreams are really about.
In my research I found that there are six different types of dreams. The first type is insight. It
provides a solution or clarification to an issue in your life. The second type of dreaming is lucid
dreaming. These dreams we have and know we are just dreaming and that it is not really
happening. The next type is precognitive dreams. They predict the outcome of events in your
life. They are like a fortune teller or palm reader telling us our future. Then there are review
dreams, these dreams let us look at ourselves to show us how our lives have become like they are.
They let us look at ourselves from an outsider's point of view. The next type of dream is the
gratification dreams. These dreams fulfill our wants and satisfy our desires. They give us "what we
want when we want it" (Home1.gte.net). The last type of dream is the physical dream. They are
dreams that linger with us even after the dream is over and we are awake. They use imagery that is

What actually are dreams? Dreaming is a different state of consciousness. Brains are in constant
activity and constantly giving odd brain waves. Dreams are a communication of mind, body, and
spirit. During dreams the mind reviews long and short term memory. Dreams are mysteries of the
mind and adventures of the sleeping brain.
While sleeping, there are two different classifications. These two classifications are paradoxical
sleep, also known as rapid eye movement (REM) and orthodox sleep also known as non–REM sleep

the dreamer present day life. During a daydream the dreamers mind begins to wander and he/she
loses their self in an imagined scenario. If this scenario becomes fearful it is known as a day mare.

From Faulkner to Line December 23rd, 2015 was the day I dreamed of my whole life. My
boyfriend, Austin, was in town for Christmas from Fort Riley where he was stationed with the
army. After Austin picked me up from work we had to rush home to eat dinner and change because
we were going to take Christmas photos. I had no idea where we were taking the photos at, Austin
picked out the place. He was going to wear his uniform for the photos, but he realized he forgot his

I'm in a type of evening gathering, or masquerade ball, seated at a fancy table. When I look down

Imagine a place with no problems, no need to have laws, no need to have prisons or jails, just
happiness fills it. Kids are allowed to stay out late because school was not needed, no one needed
school because it caused stress and it caused mental problems. There weren't phones or any social
networks. Right when you became a teen, you were allowed to drive. Kids had freedom because
their parents could trust them. All of the houses were provided with a security system, so there
were no burglaries or anyone getting hurt. Hospitals were provided incase of accidents or for
people who made mistakes or don't have anywhere else to go.
My door to my world is very unique. To get into my world you have to go through a graffiti
butterfly in the town of frankton. There are multiple ones around town, so if you have access to
one, you should be able to have access to all. After you find a butterfly, you add a personal detail
to it. As more people come into the world, the more unique the butterfly is. Also you can't put a
copy of what someone else did, you have to do your own unique pattern. After you do that the
butterfly starts glowing and you can then walk through the portal. When you walk through you're
going to end up in the same place as where you crossed through. But it'll look much brighter and
there will be someone there to show you where you're going to spend the night.
You have a choice when you get there, you can either stay there forever in a huge beautiful house, or
you can rent a smaller trendy house. You can stay wherever youwant, if you want to live in Florida
on the beach, you can. You get to choice your life in this world. You have full control, you can do
whatever you want with your life. You can be a doctor, a vet, inventor, anything really. There is a
cap you put on that'll give you all of the information you need to pursue your job. The process is
very quick and easy to choose your future.
Money is not a problem in this world. There is no money, once a week you get taken into a mall
to pick out 7 outfits for your week. Each time you come back, you drop off your outfits from the
week before. You are allowed to to keep past outfits if you want to. Food is not a problem here either.

world we see around us, has captured the interest of many people throughout history. In fact,
mankind has been studying dreams since the invention of the written word. Perhaps the lure of

Heraclitus was probably the first to suggest that dreams actually originated from within. He stated

Since she was little she was always having to take care of her three sisters. She wasn't allowed to
go out a lot so she was always home studying or in her room. She was so restricted in her own home
that even now I can't imagine how terrible that must have felt. To constantly have to worry not only
about yourself but for other people when you haven't even reached puberty.
Her stepfather was the worst of all. He would always put her down and would try to make her feel
like nothing. She didn't even have protection from her own mother, because her mom would never
say anything about it. She just let it happen.

Moving forward with the concepts and lessons I learned in the section Create Your Dream Life, I
am slowly and steadily trying to improve my way of life. I started to notice and evaluate my life
situations to comprehend what, when, and how I need to change. I am beginning to increase my
self–perception and cognitive flexibility while balancing my dashboard more effectively. Although
Career Perspectives is opening my eyes to new possibilities and teaching me new concepts, it is

lead a good life; and on the opposite end of the spectrum, society says "do what you love and

out the concept of "get great at what you do." I often mistake passions and interests as one in the
same, which confuses me when I am trying to decide my career path. I know I am interested in a
variety of things, but I wasn't sure what exactly I was passionate about. Learning that sometimes

Dreams, we all have them at one time or another, and in one form or another. They can be
daydreams, when we're awake, wishing and hoping for something more (bigger and better) than
we already have, or the way we hope things should and would be. Next there is the wish, this is
when there is a strong desire for a specific thing, a longing for one particular thing. Then there is
the nightmare. They are the dreams that are very disturbing, full of fear and horror. They are often
a very scary event played out while one is asleep, although we do not know we are asleep. "Dreams

We all have dream in our lives whether it is about attending a dream university, or having a dream

It has been said by researchers that everyone dreams during sleep and it is thought to be a universal
psychical feature of our human lives. However, many of us are unable to recall vividly what happens
throughout our dreams, if anything at all. Due to this clouded unique nature that is dreaming, most

Dreaming can also be viewed in a more biological sense known as the activation–synthesis theory, in

stimulated have been found, due to Hobson's brain scans or the 1970's, to be that of visual (visual
cortex) and emotional (limbic system) areas of our brain. Such theory explains the random,
hallucinatory images induced by dreamers and the disorder of events remembered due to the inaction
of thought processing areas (prefrontal cortex).
In all, dreaming is a phenomenon that can generally be argued as serviceable to our being and is
certainly fascinating, however it's clear purposes remain uncertain.
