This document discusses how technological advancement may be occurring faster than human psychological evolution can adapt. It suggests we may reach a point called the singularity by 2050 where human existence will be irreversibly altered. It also notes rising rates of autism, ADHD, tourette's syndrome, and migraines which some theorize could be linked to constant sensory bombardment from technologies. More research is needed to understand how fast-paced technologies may be affecting brain development and our ability to process high levels of information.
5. We are now living in a period where at least one scientist theorizes an event known as “the singularity” will occur in 2050, less than 50 years from now. The singularity is an event where the speed of technological advancement will be so fast and far reaching that human existence will be irreversibly altered, we will combine our brain power with computer power in order to think, reason and communicate (Kurzweil, 2006)
10. Diagnosis of hyperkinetic disorder at the age of five nearly tripled between 1992 and 1999 and tourette syndrome has more than doubled between the 1990 and 1995 period (Randerson, 2007)
11.
12. MIGRAINES ARE ANOTHER SENSORY STIMULI AILMENT ON THE RISE The Mayo Clinic lists as one of the primary causes for migraines with aura bright lights, sun glare and loud sounds unusual smells, including pleasant scents, such as perfume, and unpleasant odors, such as paint thinner and secondhand smoke (Migraine: Causes, 2009) Study shows that people aged 20-50 years are more prone to migraines now than in the mid 1990s (Linde, Stover, Zwart, Hagen, 2011)

14. Diagnosis of hyperkinetic disorder at the age of five nearly tripled between 1992 and 1999 and tourette syndrome has more than doubled between the 1990 and 1995 period (Randerson, 2007)Study shows that people aged 20-50 years are more prone to migraines now than in the mid 1990s (Linde, Stover, Zwart, Hagen, 2011)
15. Conclusioncontinued Comprehensive studies should be conducted to examine a possible connection between technology and its effects on our brain developments. Research to understand the effects of high speed travel, fluorescent lights, video games, and other sensory stimulation technologies and the manner in which our brains process that constant bombardment of information The need to understand the affects that technology is having on our brains is imperative if we wish to continue to develop new technology and survive at the same time.

Editor's Notes
I will discuss the relativity of time and how modern man has been around for 125,000+ years and civilization has only been around for approximately 6,000 of those years.
I will discuss during this panel the relative short time that technology has invaded our lives compared to our existence.
I will discuss the concept of the singularity in such a short time with regards to the development of the PC, and if it is a practical theory. This theory as discussed does not take into account cultural and economical issues of the world. This theory is based on ideology and even delves into spirituality with the mentioning of an awakening of the universe occurring. I feel this should be addressed with regards to my topic as this Scientist is receiving quite a bit of exposure.
The constant bombardment of stimuli on our sensory systems includes visual, auditory, olfactory and touching. A video of driving will play in this slide to show all the visual stimuli that occurs in just 30 second of driving at a high rate of speed. I will discuss the constant noise we live with. Our olfactory systems have been so damaged we can no longer sense danger from scent alone. Even touching is an issue as we deal with crowded areas.
This slide is self explanatory and I would read what is noted on the slide

I will elaborate on the study in Norway that recognized the increase in migraine diagnoses and the significance of that study with regards to the population of Europe. 45,000 more migraine sufferers in Norway alone; if the trend were to hold for the European Union, that would be an additional 5 million more people plagued by migraines
I will discuss the coincidence with the rise of sensory stimuli based disorders and ailments to the timeline of the same period that shows the rapid development of technology during that time.
