Inspired by the Peace Corps, IBM’s Corporate Service Corps (CSC) has provided pro bono consulting teams to communities worldwide since 2008. Like the Peace Corps, CSC provides an immersive service experience designed to benefit communities and culturally enrich the lives of participants. The CSC was launched primarily as a vehicle for global leadership development with teams of 10 to 15 members partnering with government, non-profits, social enterprises, healthcare providers and other civic leaders to address high-priority issues in education, health, economic development and community resiliency. The teams — consultants, researchers, marketers and more — work on projects varying from upgrading educational technology to consulting on the best ways to improve water quality. Many of them on return call their deployments life changing. Since its launch, the CSC has emerged as a new model for leadership development and social engagement in the 21st Century. It’s a living laboratory for experiments and learning at a time when corporations are under incredible pressure to transform the way they operate because of globalization and technology shifts, and when economic challenges and social instability threaten to slow human progress. Since its launch in 2008, the CSC program has sent nearly 4000 participants to work on over 1300 projects across over 320 teams to 40 countries around the world. Join this session featuring IBM leaders and key CSC partners to learn how to take your employee volunteering and leadership development programs to the next level.
