    Technologies (MedTech) and Education Technologies (EdTech).

Startup Competition

■   1000+ students and developers will simultaneously take part in events held at Oxford,
    Cambridge, Sheffield, Southampton, Manchester, Bloomberg (London) and The
    Telegraph (London) using UK government data sets from data.gov.uk to build
    startups.
■   Winning teams are selected from each location, and will finalists in the overall
    competition. One winning team from the finalists will be selected by the Silicon Valley
    judges, and will be awarded invaluable opportunities to help grow their new business.

SVC2UK: Serial Entrepreneur Dinner

■   The purpose of the dinner is to
    help improve links between the UK
    and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs
    and to plot how to best create
    more companies that will improve
    the world as we know it today.
■   This is the first event for Silicon
    Valley comes to the UK
    programme for 2012, details of

    Kensington Palace

Silicon Valley Comes to Parliament

■   Demonstrate to children inspirational role
    models who have achieved amazing things,
    so that they can more easily consider
    ‘business’ or ‘entrepreneurship’ as a career.
■   Demonstrate how businesses and
    governments can work together to achieve
    things that otherwise neither would be able
    to achieve.
■   Show them the workings of the Government
    and show them how they can be
    empowered to change things themselves
    and by democratic participation
■   Invite the world’s media to the event to give
    them an opportunity to see one of the ways
    the parliament is encouraging
    entrepreneurship and a better economy –
    and the study of STEM subjects.

■   CEOs from some of Europe’s most promising startups who are in the process of
    scaling up are invited to attend a workshop with successful Silicon Valley CEOs and
    executives, where facilitators will share their experiences and participants can
    troubleshoot any current issues.

    successful as they hope to be.

SVC2 Judge Business School:
Roundtable Discussions
■   The Roundtables are an opportunity for
    Cambridge Judge Business School to
    showcase faculty and research expertise
    to Silicon Valley guests and UK policy
    makers, entrepreneurs and industry
    thought-leaders.
■   Silicon Valley guests, faculty and other
    thought leaders engage in one of two
    roundtable discussions to debate a key
    issue in entrepreneurship, medical
    technology or education technology
    industries.
■   By the end of the roundtables, the group
    will have established key
    recommendations and action items to
    work towards resolving the issue.

■   Iconic Entrepreneurs travel to schools to speak with young students about
    entrepreneurship, and how it’s possible to make a big impact.
■   2011 introduced to 3 schools in Cambridge
■   2012: Rollout to 8 schools in Cambridge and London and Google Campus and
    House of Commons
