Se usa el pretérito indefinido con los marcadores temporales (anoche, ayer, anteayer, la
semana pasada, hace tres meses, en 2005, el lunes…)
Comimos en un restaurante la semana pasada.
Se usa mucho el pretérito indefinido en narraciones y biografías.
Salvador Dalí nació en 1904 en Figueres. En 1922 estudió en el Real Academia de Bellas
Artes de San Fernando. Viajó a París en 1929.

This is a 29 page booklet of handouts and worksheets that provides practice with the
Spanish preterit tense.
Page 1 gives the rules for using the preterit tense.
Page 2 has an example of how regular verbs are conjugated in the preterit and provides
conjugation practice with the verbs on page 1.
Page 3 is a gap fill exercise with regular preterit verbs.
Page 4 uses a crossword puzzle to provide practice conjugating regular preterit verbs.
Page 5 is a complete the verb conjugation exercise.
Page 6 gives 5 newspaper headlines in the present tense and shows how the verbs are
conjugated in the preterit tense.
Page 7 asks the student to write the newspaper headlines in the preterit tense.
Pages 8 - 10 show the conjugation of irregular verbs in the preterit.
