History
Sindhis (Sindhī) are a socio-ethnic group of people originating
from Sindh, a province of modern day Pakistan. After the 1947
independence of India and Pakistan, many Sindhi Hindus
migrated to India and some later settled in other parts of the
world.
The roots of Sindhi culture and civilization is found in the distant
past. Archaeological researches during 19th and 20th centuries
showed the roots of social life, religion and culture of the people
of the Sindh: their agricultural practices, traditional arts and
crafts, customs and tradition and other parts of social life. Recent
researches have traced the Indus valley civilization to even
earlier ancestry.

Social status factors:
The economy of Sindh is the 2nd largest of all
the provinces in Pakistan. Much of Sindh's
economy is influenced by the economy of
Karachi, the capital of the province and also the
largest city and economic capital of the country.

Family system in Sindh:
In rural areas of Sindh the system of family is
Joint Family.
But in urban areas there is very less of Joint
families.

Language and communication
Sindhi Language is an Indo-Aryan language of
the historical Sindh region, spoken by
the Sindhi people. It is the official language of
the Pakistani province of Sindh.
9. Symbols
“Ajrak” A symbol of Sindhi culture and tradition.
Ajrak is literally used in Sindh (Pakistan) from the
cradle to the grave. It is used as a hammock for
infants, headgear for girls, bridal accessory, a turban
and a shawl, a bed cover, a tablecloth, a gift item
and a token of respect to honor a guest. Most of the
heads of state and dignitaries of Pakistan have used
ajrak in their public meetings to show respect and as
a token of solidarity for Sindh Province.

Norms
Sindhi Culture is a very dynamic and significant
aspect of their life. It is highly inclusive and has a
vast horizon that implies both material and non-
material aspects. Set of shared values, norms,
mores, folkways, language, customs, and
traditions is generally attributed to its essence,
which reflect all the way of life.

Material component
The work of Sindhi embroidery motifs is
designed peculiarly in silk and cotton thread on
either silk or cotton. The exciting colors used are
of several sparkling shades such as orange, red,
violet, black, green, indigo, white, turquoise,
pink and blue.

complemented by using in various proportions
to create a desired effect. The notable factor is
that the ground material is covered completely
covered by hand embroidery.
