and align human capital to meet evolving business needs.

game (the company’s positioning, business model, external context, competitor’s positions and set of targeted customers)
• Value chain thinking in your business: Where you are in the value chain, strategic sourcing and procurement, business
process and logistics, supplier management and partnering?

PART I: HUMAN CAPITAL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS: BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN HR AND FINANCE
Most CEOs express how important it is for HR professionals to have a thorough understanding of budgets, financial statements, Profit
and Loss (P&L) and productivity metrics – that define the health of an organisation. If HR professionals want to move up the ladder
and assume a senior management role, an understanding of the numbers is essential to grasping the drivers of financial success and
how HR can impact the bottom line.
This module will incorporate and stress the practical application of finance tools to real-life HR issues, without sacrificing the theoretical
rigor that will enable you to better apply what you learn in a variety of situations.
Module Outline:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT SKILLS FOR HR: HOW TO MAKE YOUR BUSINESS ACUMEN & HR CASE
STUDIES COME ALIVE?
There are many project management tools and methodologies available in the market. Each of these methodologies is made to target
a specific audience (e.g. Engineers, Six Sigma and others), but they all boil down to the following:
1. A phase in the beginning where you detect, recognise, observe and/or describe the problem or project to be introduced (often
associated with a definition of teams, targets and timelines)
2. A research phase where evidence and facts are found to continue to make the baseline business case to solve the problem
3. A suggested solution to solve the problem
4. A plan for the implementation of the solution
5. The actual implementation of the solution
6. A follow-up phase to ensure that the implementation is working
In this session, you will be tasked with starting to solve one substantial business and one HR issue inside your company.
