  1. 1. MEF SCHOOLS TECHNOLOGIC HARDWARE and APPROACH & APPLICATIONS OF INTEGRATION OF TECHNOLOGY INTO EDUCATION
  2. 2. WHY TECHNOLOGY? Technology helps our students • to be at the center, • to learn at their own learning pace, • to attend the lessons efficiently, • to show their performances, • to research and create projects, • to have out-of-school applications and opportunities to revise what they have learned so far, • to increse their motivation, • to pay attention while learning.
  3. 3. WHY TECHNOLOGY? We aim our students • to be aware of the advancing and up-to-date technology, • to use technology in order to achieve their goals, • to create consciousness to protect themselves from the damages of technology in their daily life.
  4. 4. WHAT DID WE DO? MEF Schools Technology Commission has been established. Technology had also been used actively in education before this commission. But with this commission…

MEF SCHOOLS TECHOLOGY COMMISSION • the general perception of the school in integrating technology into education has been created, • The commission has aimed to create percept unity of students to get them to use functional technology in their life-long learning journey • MEF Schools model of integrating technology into education has been formed.

MEF SCHOOLS TECHOLOGY COMMISSION • Teachers and administrators from MEF Schools ( K-12) were chosen for this commission. • A survey was applied to all of the teachers to determine diligence in equipment, proficiency and content. • Enhancements or improvements were held according to survey results.
  7. 7. MEF SCHOOLS TECHOLOGY COMMISSION • The quantity of computers was increased for teachers to reach technology easier. • Interactive boards were placed in Middle School (5th-8th grades), • Smart boards were placed in the High School. • K-1-2 classes are equipped with projection machines. • 3rd and 4th grades use e-beam. • Teachers were trained to use these boards efficiently. • Internet-based contents were sought by commission members. The proper ones have been used.
  8. 8. MEF SCHOOLS TECHOLOGY COMMISSION • Demos were made to inform teachers about developments and new applications. Teachers applied different contents as well as using various applications. The ones that they found useful were used more frequently throughout the school.

MEF SCHOOLS TECHOLOGY COMMISSION • A portal is created to share cognitive, behavioral and psychological information about the student with the parent. • In this portal students can reach the educational materials prepared by the teachers and exchange information with their teachers. • Teachers contribute to the improvement of the students through this portal.
  10. 10. MEF SCHOOLS TECHOLOGY COMMISSION • A cooperation was held with Yıldız Technical University BÖTE Department. We have been working with student trainees.
  11. 11. TEACHING TECHNOLOGIES DEPARTMENT • Teaching Technologies Department has been established. • Guidelines have been set so that they can work cooperatively with our teachers. • Learning objectives have been written specifically by this department.
  12. 12. MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT PROCESS 1. LEVEL-NEED ANALYSIS • What kind of materials are we going to develop for which chapter, topic and acquisition/learning? • At what level of the lesson are we going to use these materials? • What is the function of the materials going to be? Reinforcement, repetition, presentation? • Where is the material going to be used?

MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT PROCESS B- ANALYSIS of the LEARNER • Preliminary information • Lesson oriented attitudes • Readiness • Learning speed and capacities C- What are the goals that are going to be supported by these materials? D- What is the content, what are its features? E- Message design: Scenario in teacher’s mind – concretization – approaching to the students, etc. F- Method: ppt presentation, animation, video, one on one learning, learning material, etc. G – Mission analysis: Who is going to do what?
  14. 14. MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT PROCESS 2. • LEVEL Anaysis are done on the developed material with the teachers. Material is revised. 3. LEVEL • Prepared material is applied in the classes. For observation teaching technologists stay in classrooms during material application. 4. LEVEL • Teachers say their opinions about applied materials. Materials are revised if needed. 5. • LEVEL Files are archived for upcoming years.
  15. 15. TECHNOLOGY EVERYWHERE MEF Schools Technology Commission • 50 tablets were bought to achieve one on one learning. They are being used at our school efficiently.
  16. 16. USAGE of FUNCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY • Our students use technology in order to prepare their assignments and projects. • Starting from Kindergarten until 4th grade, computer lessons are given to our students in order to improve their computer skills. • Programs such as web design, flash, etc. are taught to students starting from 5th grade; especially interested ones.
