2. PLOT SUMMARY
This short film is all about a one boy who doesn't want to use
the online dating system so decides to confront women in
person. It’s filmed using real life people which makes it
interesting and unpredictable. He sometimes finds people who
want to date him and most of the time finds people who reject
him.
3. MISE-EN-SCÈNE:
SETTING /LOCATION
This short film was set in London, in a normal street, and
sometimes in the park, which could be seen as a predicable
place to ‘pick up girls’. It was effective to use a street as the
setting seemed so normal and what he was doing seemed so
abnormal, so it worked so well.
4. MISE-EN-SCÈNE: ICONOGRAPHY
AND PROPS
The fact that this short film was set in London could have
attracted some people as it’s a iconic/ fashionable place too
be. Especially for younger audiences. Using the internet and
not wanting to use online dating in the film could also attract
a audience who feel the same about hating online dating.
5. MISE-EN-SCÈNE: COLOUR
AND LIGHTING
This short film started from him waking up in the morning
and continues late into the night. This makes the audience
feel like they have been through his journey with him from
the begging of the day until the end.
6. MISE-EN-SCÈNE: MAKE UP
AND COSTUME
The character has not got
any makeup or different
clothes on as I think he's
meant to be perceived as a
normal guy who just wants
to get a girlfriend. There
are some random people in
the street which are
wearing outfits and crazy
makeup, which is
something you would find
in a normal London street.
7. EDITING: SOUND AND
VISION
The editing of this film was really clever because they did it
so you could see all the girls different reactions to when he
asks for there number or to go on a date. It was different
clips and cuts to when he was asking the different girls
different questions. I also liked how sometimes the cut would
go back too the same girls talking about his situation. It
made it more realistic and like a documentary.
8. TITLE AND CREDITS
There are only there credits at the end of the movie which I
thought was presented really nicely, like its drawn instead of
typed which I think makes the whole thing of hating the whole
online dating and wanting to do it yourself.
