6.1 Media Brochure (Minor Project)
This is for a consulting project audience
Develop a brief audio-media presentation that showcases your value and services as a futures
consultant (12 hours).
Consider that you have just opened a new futures consulting practice. Now you need to pitch
[promote/advertise/sell] your services to potential clients. This project gives you the opportunity to
describe your services to potential clients by developing and posting to the Internet a 7-minute audio-
media presentation.
Target decision makers in your specific market with a general sales pitch to promote your work. Explain
why organizations need foresight. Identify your mission, you're distinctive as consultant. Describe the
services you can provide, and your consulting process (cf. Block). Close in a way that invites people to
contact you further about futures consulting service.
The project must use multi-media (the rubric refers to PowerPoint). Include integrated speaker's notes
and an audio voiceover in the PowerPoint file. Be sure your media meets MSF writing guidelines for
"presentations," especially in regards to speaker notes/script, per slide, on average 90 words per slide in
the notes section.
The final conversion of Powerpoint to the Internet can be to Flash or slidecast (powerpoint & podcast).
This assignment can be completed with the limitations of free "trial" downloads, no purchase of
conversion software is required. This assignment will not be graded with a rubric.

  • 2. 6.1 Media Brochure (Minor Project) This is for a consulting project audience Develop a brief audio-media presentation that showcases your value and services as a futures consultant (12 hours). Consider that you have just opened a new futures consulting practice. Now you need to pitch [promote/advertise/sell] your services to potential clients. This project gives you the opportunity to describe your services to potential clients by developing and posting to the Internet a 7-minute audio- media presentation. Target decision makers in your specific market with a general sales pitch to promote your work. Explain why organizations need foresight. Identify your mission, you're distinctive as consultant. Describe the services you can provide, and your consulting process (cf. Block). Close in a way that invites people to contact you further about futures consulting service. The project must use multi-media (the rubric refers to PowerPoint). Include integrated speaker's notes and an audio voiceover in the PowerPoint file. Be sure your media meets MSF writing guidelines for "presentations," especially in regards to speaker notes/script, per slide, on average 90 words per slide in the notes section. The final conversion of Powerpoint to the Internet can be to Flash or slidecast (powerpoint & podcast). This assignment can be completed with the limitations of free "trial" downloads, no purchase of conversion software is required. This assignment will not be graded with a rubric.

To support you in becoming future ready, we offer the following services: Research: We undertake focused research in order to gain understanding of the drivers that will shape the future To achieve this, we have a dedicated team of researchers constantly monitoring trends and development in order to develop a view on the future We also work closely with research groups, universities and think-tanks to share insight around issues that will impact on the future Training: We present a range of training workshops, seminars and conferences aimed at building awareness on the topic of being future ready, and equipping individuals with the skills to become future ready Our training sessions are custom prepared, and range from short informal one-hour presentations to our six-month Certificate course in Strategic Foresight: Understanding the Future. Consulting: We also have a consulting division, aimed at assisting clients to find answers to the difficult questions around topic of the future Our consultants can assist with the facilitation of foresight workshops, strategic thinking sessions, or in the establishment of strategic foresight divisions in your organization
  4. Our company is made up of three divisions, Research, Training and Consulting Our full-time research coordinator is Darryl Jones. He is responsible to, with the guidance of our research partners, set the agenda for our research program, and identify research priorities Our training coordinator is Sue King. She is responsible to facilitate the identification of training needs, and the development of a training program suitable to the needs of our clients. Our consulting coordinator is Megan du Toit, who is responsible to coordinate our consulting projects, and ensure consulting services are delivered successfully. We also have strong links with various other organizations, research institutions and think tanks, ensuring that we can offer the best possible service and advice to our clients.
