The Island Fox lives on the eight Channel
Islands of the coast of California.They are not
found anywhere else in the whole world.They
are also endangered.
3. Diet
The Island Fox eats fruits, insects, birds, eggs,
crabs, deer mice, summer holly, cholla cactus,
rose, sumac, nightshade, ground nesting
birds, grasshoppers, lizards, and crickets.

The Island Fox has large ears, brown and red
fur, a long bushy tail, a pointed snout, and
sharp curved claws.
5. General Information and Interesting

The Island Fox mates in late February and early March.
They have 1-5 pups.When the pups are born the pups
are blind and helpless.The golden eagles is four times
the size of the Island Fox and can easily prey on the
fox.The golden eagle and bald eagle have been
changing the population of the Island Fox.The Island
Fox is related to dogs and jackals. A grown male is
about 41 inches.
