Good Morning Everyone. Thank you for attending our session today to learn more about the USAID Small and Medium Enterprise Activity and to find out how you can get involved with us
The components of the program
In a nutshell, what our BDS program does is the following. Suppose there is a service in the market that can help your business grow and you do not know where to obtain this service. You can approach us directly to make this connection. Our BDS team will not only help you in connecting with the right service provider but will also offer a cost-share of up to 50%. For example, if the cost of that service in the market is, lets say, 100 dollars, through the BDS program, up to 50 dollars will be paid by USAID. As you can see in the process flow shown here, both the SME and the BDS provider can apply to our project directly for assistance in this match-making.
Similarly, if you are a BDS provider and would like to develop your SME client base, you can apply to us to become a member of our panel of service providers and offer this cost share to your potential, provided they meet our selection criteria.
We have already identified a pool of BDS providers through a competitive selection process and based on a comprehensive demand analysis of SMEs in the two sectors that we are currently active in. And are in the process of linking them up with the SMEs who are applying for assistance.
As you can see this is how the process of BDS provision will work.
