"A massive open online course (MOOC; /muːk/) is an online
course aimed at unlimited participation and open access
via the web. In addition to traditional course materials such
as filmed lectures, readings, and problem sets, many
MOOCs provide interactive user forums to support
community interactions between students, professors,
and teaching assistants (TAs). MOOCs are a recent
development in distance education which was first
introduced in 2008 and emerged as a popular mode of
learning in 2012."

2008:
"The first MOOCs emerged from the open
educational resources (OER) movement. The term
MOOC was coined in 2008 by Dave Cormier of
the University of Prince Edward Island in response
to a course called Connectivism and Connective
Knowledge (also known as CCK08). CCK08,
which was led by George Siemens of Athabasca
University and Stephen Downes of the National
Research Council..."

Konnektivismi
"The central aspect of connectivism is the metaphor
of a network with nodes and connections. In this
metaphor, a node is anything that can be connected to
another node such as an organization, information,
data, feelings, and images. Connectivism sees
learning as the process of creating connections
and expanding or increasing network complexity.

• Kurssin ohjaajina toimivat: Jukka Purma, Tarmo Toikkanen ja Teemu Leinonen
• Kurssin pohjalta loin oman kurssin Wikiopistoon: Avoimien oppimisympäristöjen
käyttö verkkopedagogiikassa
