Every downturn will be followed by an upturn. That is the reality of economic cycles. Instead of
down sizing, cutting back and waiting for the current storm to pass, how do we position or
reposition ourselves so that we are ready to fully capitalize on the BOOM when it comes?

Leo Ariyanayakam, CEO Scicom (MSC) Berhad
Mr. Leo Ariyanayakam is the Chief Executive Officer and Group Executive Director of Scicom
(MSC) Berhad a MESDAQ listed Company. Under his guidance, Scicom has won several major
international industry awards, including “the 2007 Contact Centre Service Provider of the Year”,
as conferred by Frost & Sullivan Malaysia Telecoms Awards in 2007.
The Group is now widely regarded as one of the premier contact centre and BPO providers within
the industry, with an unblemished performance record. He has been instrumental in building
Scicom as the leader in contact centre outsourcing, BPO, training and customer relationship
management consulting solutions in the Asia Pacific region, and is a respected visionary and
leader in this rapidly growing industry.
On 7 October 2006, he was appointed as the President of the Customer Relationship
Management and Contact Centre Association (Malaysia). He was further re-elected as the
President for a two-year term in 2008. In June 2007, he was selected as one of Malaysia’s
Outstanding Entrepreneurs at the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards. He graduated with a
Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry. He does not have any family relationship with any director
and/or major shareholder of Scicom and is not aware of any conflict of interest with Scicom.
Mr Michael Lai, Chief Executive Officer of Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd
Michael Lai is the Chief Executive Officer of Packet One Networks (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (P1),
Malaysia’s first WiMAX broadband service provider. Michael has been tasked to spearhead P1’s
commitment as the world’s first ever large scale deployment of an 802.16e 2.3GHz WiMAX
network in the world, outside Korea & to be a leading WiMAX converged telco within 5 years.
With over 20 years’ of invaluable experience in the information and communications technology
(ICT) industry, Michael is a familiar face in the Malaysian telecommunications industry. His highly
sought after expertise in international and domestic business-to-business and business-to-
consumer ICT branding and marketing puts him at the forefront of bringing the best in wireless
technology to the country and beyond.
Michael is deemed by The Peak lifestyle magazine as the ‘Wireless Wizard’. Malaysia’s leading
English daily, The Star, conferred on him as ‘The man with the ideal resume for heading a wireless
broadband company’.
Michael was the CEO of TM Net, the largest Internet service provider in Malaysia and South-east
Asia during his tenure. It was under his dynamic leadership that TM Net catapulted into a RM1
billion enterprise within a year and a half; and quantum-leaped its profit before tax and
broadband subscribers by more than 1100% and 352% respectively in one year. Michael was also
previously Senior Vice President of Branding and Market Development for Celcom, and Marketing
Director for Oracle Malaysia.

5. Mr. Low Huoi Seong, CEO Vision New Media Sdn Bhd
Seong is the Founder and CEO of Vision New Media, which started in 1985 as a small Malaysian
trading company. Through his leadership VNM has strategically built a comprehensive, integrated
group that spans the entire new media content creation and distribution spectrum and is at the
forefront of creating and realising the value of content with services covering TV programmes,
animation, interactive content, customized cross-media content production, content distribution
and customer services. VNM is today a media partner of major US, Canadian and European
networks and studios including Warner Bros, Buena Vista, Disney, Sony Pictures International, as
well as broadcasters like STAR and Channel [V].
Seong is a passionate Entrepreneur, a contributor to The Edge magazine and speaks extensively
at entrepreneurial and media related events.
En Md Zubir Ansori Yahaya, CEO of Malaysia Debt Venture Bhd
He started his career as Assessment Officer at the Department of Inland Revenue prior to joining
Malaysian Airline System Berhad (MAS) in 1983 as a General Cost Accountant. He was then
posted to UK as Regional Accounts Manager Europe where he controls the MAS Accounting
Offices throughout Europe. He was appointed as the CFO of Malaysia Airlines Cargo Sdn. Bhd.
(MASkargo), a fully own subsidiary of MAS where he was primarily responsible for the setting up
the Cargo subsidiary company and led the Company through major negotiations with MAS, the
Holding Company.
He left MAS in 1998 to join Capital Risk Management Sdn Bhd (CRM), a corporate consultancy
firm where his expertise was to manage start-up businesses and turnaround management. His
entrepreneurial experience includes managing companies from differing industries like printing,
publishing, advertising, trading, food and beverages.
In 1999, the Telekom Malaysia Berhad led consortium appointed CRM to finalise and negotiate
with the Government of Malaysia for the Smart School Pilot Project where he was involved in the
financial proposals and negotiations. Immediately as the deal was secured, he joined the
Consortium, later known as Telekom Smart School Sdn. Bhd. (TSS) where he held the position of
Finance & Administration Director prior to joining MDV. He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy
(Hons) from National University of Malaysia (UKM) and is a Chartered Accountant (M). He also
holds a certificate of Banking and Managerial Process from Asian Institute of Management (AIM),
Manila. He is also a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
Dr. V. Sivapalan, Special Advisor to TeAM
Dr. Siva comes from a diverse background of 20 years of regional entrepreneurship in
manufacturing, corporate consulting, corporate finance and venture capital consulting in Asia. He
holds a Ph.D in Venture Capital studies from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland; an MBA
(with Distinction) from University of Hull, UK; an LLB (Hons) from University of London and is also
a qualified Chartered Secretary. He is also the Founder & Past President of the Technopreneurs
Association of Malaysia (TeAM) and currently its Advisor.

6. Dr. Siva is known for his candid and unconventional views on entrepreneurship, business and the
economy and is a popular speaker, panelist and writer. He has spoken at conventions and
seminars across the world from Asia to the USA including such distinguished institutions as the
University of San Francisco and University of Texas (USA), Universities of Edinburgh, Nottingham,
London City University in the UK, Gent (Belgium) and at universities in Malaysia and Thailand on
the topics of Entrepreneurship, Venture Capital, Strategy and Business. Dr. Siva also taught
Strategic Management for 2 years at the University of Edinburgh Management School and was a
guest lecturer on Entrepreneurship for the University of Nottingham MBA program and for
undergraduates at University of Edinburgh.
