Collins, Robert O. "Sudan." Encyclopedia of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity. Ed. Dinah L Shelton. Vol. 2. Detroit: Macmillan Reference USA, 2005. 1002-1009. Gale Virtual Reference
Library. Web. 27 Oct. 2010. <http://go.galegroup.com/ps/ i.do?&id=GALE%7CCX3434600327&v=2.1&u=cant48040&it=r&p=GVRL&sw=w>. This source basically covers in-depth history
about the Sudan's past, emphasizing aspects of Sudan's civil war. The source also gave a few statistics indicating the death toll of not only the civil war, but from Sudan's past experiences.
I evaluated this source by researching the author himself on Google. I noted he seemed to be accurate in his Works Cited, and I found multiple sources that identified him as a Professor
at Yale University, and he specialized in the history and problems related to Sudan. By reading this source, I developed a sense of historical background to relate to the more current
information, as well as gained specific facts that pertained directly to the topic I was researching. By using this source, I was able to achieve a better sense of direction in the way my
research paper should turn out.
Dau, John Bul. God Grew Tired of Us. Washington, DC: National Geographic Society, 2007. Print. This book is specifically a memoir because it covers the troublesome life of a Lost Boy of Sudan,
written by himself, John Bul Dau. It basically tells the life story of a boy who was caught in the middle of the Sudanese civil war, and what happens as his life progresses and is introduced
to the United States of America. I evaluated by researching the story of John Bul Dau, and not only is it obviously a true account, but a personal movie was made starring him and his life
progressed. I can easily trust this memoir to give me the truthful facts. This book definitely enhanced my topic because not only is my group basing our project from this memoir, but this
is a first person account of a survivor who has witnessed this civil war, and reading about his adventures has put me in his shoes during his time in Africa.
Deng, Simon. "Genocide in the First Person: An Interview with Simon Deng." Interview by Jonathan Gelbart. Pachodo.org. N.p., 8 Apr. 2008. Web. 27 Oct. 2010.
<http://www.pachodo.org/ 20080408587/Pachodo.org-English-Articles/ genocide-in-the-first-person-an-interview-with-simon-deng.html>. This source is strictly an
interview, to gain information from a native Sudanese man, Simon Deng. The interviewer asked specific questions that directly to the central problem of Sudan's civil
war, especially with genocide. As this was a simple website, I searched the company that posted all of this Sudan information, and they are actually a well known
group that is commonly used in Sudan. Additionally, I searched key sentences that could have been easily copyrighted from another source, and nothing suspicious
appeared. By obtaining this source, I gained first-person information other than from my original memoir, John Bul Dau, that gave me different information that
benefitted me in the same way. I gained more specific information from this source, and it helped me understand concepts, like the religious controversies, that I
would not have gotten from any other source.
"Genocide." Prejudice in the Modern World Reference Library. Vol. 4. Detroit: UXL, 2007. 113-114. Gale Virtual Reference Library. Web. 27 Oct. 2010. <http://go.galegroup.com/ps/
i.do?&id=GALE%7CCX2831400091&v=2.1&u=cant48040&it=r&p=GVRL&sw=w>. This source simply provided the easiest and most basic definition of genocide. Additionally, it provided
how genocide came into play in Sudan's own civil war. As this information appears on a pure education database, I know I can trust it to some extent. Nonetheless, I still took some key
words and searched it, and the only information that had this information word for word was other sites that had legal rights over the same book that this information additionally came
from. By using the information from this source, I was then able to define Sudan as officially having this problem with it's own civil war. It informed me the full understanding of genocide,
and I had not even understood the issue much before reading this information.
"Genocide in Sudan." Encyclopedia of Race and Racism. Ed. John Moore. Vol. 2. Detroit: Macmillan Reference USA, 2008. 59-64. Global Issues in Context. Web. 27 Oct. 2010.
<http://find.galegroup.com/gic/ infomark.do?&contentSet=EBKS&idigest=b527955b5caccdb4b4a2d40e86fe061a&type=retrieve&tabID=T001&prodId
=GIC&docId=CX2831200188&source=gale&userGroupName=cant48040&version=1.0>. This source explains how genocide really comes into play with Sudan's civil
war. I also evaluated it by knowing the fact that the article comes from an educational database. But for this article, I also searched the supposed book to make sure
that this information came directly from the book, and I proved that it did. The information that came from this source gave me a much better understanding of how
big of a role genocide played in this civil war. Without it, I would still regard genocide as a much more minor issue.
Robinson, Simon, et al. "The Tragedy of Sudan." Academic Search Complete. N.p., 2004. Web. 26 Oct. 2010. <http://proxygsu-
sche.galileo.usg.edu/login?url=http://search.ebscohost.com/ login.aspx?direct=true&db=a9h&AN=14531490&site=ehost-live>. This source gave a more literal
approach to the entire history of Sudan. It began from Sudan's beginning as a place, until how it is today. I focused mainly upon the part from Sudan's first
independence in 1956 until now. Because this source provided the authors, I was able to evaluate each of them individually. Each author had some background in the
study of Sudanese history, so I know that source can now be trusted. I gained a lot of background information from this source, giving a sense of basis to know exactly
how the war was initiated. Without this information, the realization of how Sudan's problems came into effect would have been very hazy.
"Sudan." Prejudice in the Modern World Reference Library. Ed. Kelly Rudd, Richard Hanes, and Sarah Hermson. Vol. 4. Detroit: UXL, 2007. 115-125. Gale
Virtual Reference Library. Web. 27 Oct. 2010. <http://find.galegroup.com/gic/
infomark.do?&contentSet=EBKS&idigest=b527955b5caccdb4b4a2d40e86fe061a&type=retrieve&tabID=T001&prodId
=GIC&docId=CX2831400092&source=gale&userGroupName=cant48040&version=1.0>. This source also gave a bit of background on Sudan, but it
gave more of an emphasis on Sudan's civil war. To evaluate this article, I searched the title of the book from which it came. When the results
appeared, I discover that this information did come directly from the book, so I know I can trust it because it is an officially published document. I
learned new information from this source that I didn't know before, even using my first person memoir: the huge role that genocide plays in Sudan's
civil war. I also learned about other controversies that came with civil war, such as religious issues. This gave me a much better in-depth view of the
truth of the past of Sudan.

This source explains how genocide really comes into play with Sudan's civil war. I also evaluated it by knowing the fact that the article comes from an educational database. But for this article, I also searched the supposed book to make sure that this information came directly from the book, and I proved that it did. The information that came from this source gave me a much better understanding of how big of a role genocide played in this civil war. Without it, I would still regard genocide as a much more minor issue. Robinson, Simon, et al. "The Tragedy of Sudan." Academic Search Complete. N.p., 2004. This source gave a more literal approach to the entire history of Sudan. It began from Sudan's beginning as a place, until how it is today. I focused mainly upon the part from Sudan's first independence in 1956 until now. Because this source provided the authors, I was able to evaluate each of them individually. Each author had some background in the study of Sudanese history, so I know that source can now be trusted. I gained a lot of background information from this source, giving a sense of basis to know exactly how the war was initiated. Without this information, the realization of how Sudan's problems came into effect would have been very hazy. "Sudan." Prejudice in the Modern World Reference Library. Ed. This source also gave a bit of background on Sudan, but it gave more of an emphasis on Sudan's civil war. To evaluate this article, I searched the title of the book from which it came. When the results appeared, I discover that this information did come directly from the book, so I know I can trust it because it is an officially published document. I learned new information from this source that I didn't know before, even using my first person memoir: the huge role that genocide plays in Sudan's civil war. I also learned about other controversies that came with civil war, such as religious issues. This gave me a much better in-depth view of the truth of the past of Sudan. Works Cited
