NARRATIVE ESSAY PROMPTS [Being Unprepared] Because you have been sick, out of town,
busy at work, or working on other homework, you didn 't have as much time to study for an
important test as you needed. Everyone going to school has been in this situation. Think of a
specific test that you took that you felt unprepared for and narrate the events. Tell your readers about
the preparation that you were able to do, the reasons that you didn 't get to prepare as well as you
wanted, taking the test, and any significant events that happened after you took the test. Your paper
should help readers understand what it felt like to be unprepared. [Lightbulb Moment] Think of an
experience when you realized that you suddenly understood an...show more content...
[Personal Rituals] Describe a personal ritual that you, your friends, or your family have. Think
about the personal steps that you always go through when you prepare for an exam. Do you sit at a
desk, spread books and notes across your bed, or use the kitchen table? Do you have to have
something to drink...soda, water, jolt? There are numerous things that we do for which we create our
own personal rituals. Choose one event –– studying for a test, writing a paper, dressing and warming
up before a game, or preparing and having a special family meal. Narrate the events that take place
when you complete your ritual so that your readers understand the steps that the ritual includes and
why you complete them. [Standing Up] Choose a time when you did something that took a lot of
nerve, a time when you didn 't follow the crowd or a time when you stood up for your beliefs.
Perhaps your friends were urging you to do something that you were uncomfortable with and you
chose not to cave into peer pressure. Maybe you took a stance on a political issue that was important
in your community, or you might have Whatever you choose, think about the details of the event and
write a story that tells about what happened. Yournarrative should show your readers why you
decided to make a stand or try something that took nerve, give specifics on the events, and share how
you felt after the event. [Disagreeing] Think

How To Write A Narrative Essay On Middle School
Drama, cliques, and awkwardness make middle school most people's least favorite time. Nothing
can make it any worse than it already is. Unless of course, one switches schools right before eighth
grade.
Before my eighth grade year, I switched from a small charter school in Inver Grove Heights where I
had gone since Kindergarten, to Blackhawk Middle School, a much bigger public school in Eagan. I
didn't want to leave my old school behind at all. Class sizes there were about fifty, and I had the
same friends since Kindergarten. Every inch of the school was familiar to me. I knew all the
teachers, and my mother was even friends with many of them. After eight years, I had developed a
sort of sixth sense about the school and everyone in it. My transition to Blackhawk Middle School
was one of the greatest challenges I've experienced. The change was drastic, and it was very hard

Just walking into the school was overwhelming. Compared to my previous school, it was massive.
Everyone already had friends from their previous two years in middle school. The system of
changing rooms for every class was alien to me, so of course, I got lost quite a bit. Further
complicating the matter was the fact that there was a different schedule every other day. I didn't
realize that until first period on the second day of school, when a rather unfriendly girl told me to
get out of her seat.
During my first weeks at school, I kept my head down and didn't talk much. I didn't participate in
class out of fear of drawing attention to myself and was too shy to approach anyone.
Things started to get better when my English teacher made an announcement about the beginning of
Declam season, a middle school speech competition. At my old school, there was nothing of the sort.
Curious, I attended the information session and was immediately

Achieving the American Dream Gentle, Revised Narrative Essay One would think that
purchasing your first home would be a very fascinating experience; after all it is one of the most
major purchases of your entire life. In America, home ownership ties in with the American
Dream and the spirit of working hard to one day earn through hard work a home with a white
picket fence. My husband and I felt that it was time for us to reward ourselves for all the hard
work we have been putting in over the years by purchasing our first home, which was well
overdue. I quickly learned the process of purchasing your first home can be very frustrating and
stressful. However, if you survive the home buying process the reward is priceless once you move

A short sale can take up to six months to be approved, and I did not have time for that ,because,
my existing lease had already expired on my rental home. I begin to work with a realtor who was
also an investor. She had a lovely home for sale in a beautiful neighborhood. I extended an offer
to her on the home, and she said that she would need to talk it over with her husband. She later
contacted me to advise me that she had agreed to accept a cash offer on the home. I continued to
look for the perfect home and was not having much success. I soon discovered that the realtor had
a new house on the market in the same beautiful neighborhood. I contacted her right away and
made an offer on the house. Once she accepted my offer we signed and faxed the contract to the
bank right away. The realtor and I both agreed on a closing date which was 45 days from the date
we signed the contract. At this point, it was time to make sure that we met all of underwriting
guidelines. It was not only important for us to meet all of the bank stipulations but the actual house
had to meet bank standards in order for the bank to approve the loan. Shortly, after faxing the
contract over to the bank I was contacted by my loan processor, her name was Emily. She told me
everything that I needed and I emailed Emily the requirements within 24 hours. The only thing that
was pending to my knowledge was the appraisal on the house which I had

Narrative Essay About Being Trapped
I decided to stay in town for Miss Callie's funeral and to help with her family that was still in town.
The loss hurt many who were close to her especially Esau who had loved her for many years. The
funeral had arrived very quickly as Miss Callie had requested a burial. As I walked up to her casket
my knees became weak as tragic memories flashed before me of everything that has happened to
the town. I noticed Esau, and tried my hardest to remain strong for him. A few more steps and I
would be looking at a beloved friend who I would consider my family. I missed her already as I saw
her and realized I would never be able to have a good quality conversation with her again. I gave my
condolences to Esau and the rest of Miss Callie's family before...show more content...
I quickly went home and packed what I would need for a while and other little important things. I
made a call to professional movers to pack up my stuff and put it in storage then an additional call
to a realtor to sell the house. I got in my little car and headed North while booking two flights to
Europe. Even though Miss Callie would not be able to receive lovely gifts from Europe I still
wanted to go for her. Ginger had agreed to go with me and she apologized for not getting in
contact. We made it to Europe and it was crazy different from small town Clanton. It was almost
overwhelming, but it was all worth it. Everyday there was something new and different to try.
About a week into our trip, I get a call from my realtor telling me the Padgitt clan was interested in
buying my house. I was not even halfway through my sentence when I nearly choked on the rest of
my sentence. The realtor said, "They are willing to buy it for 2.5 million dollars." I didn't even
have to think about the answer...yes 2.5 million dollars is a large amount of money, but I would
never put the town of Clanton through something they had already been through. It hadn't even been
a year since everything had happened in the small town. I would most definitely not be the one to
give a single chance to the Padgitts. The realtor was upset with me but understood and delivered the
news right away. The Padgitts will not step foot anywhere near the people I care about in that

At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward
reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure
but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very
basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit
discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I
enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in
my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into
the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content...
You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the
same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was
intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing
are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't
personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the
most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and
professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to
write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to.
Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am
assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find
myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this
would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the
majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and
therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume
every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the

Achieving A Personal Goal
In the beginning of the semester, I felt a little annoyed that I had to plan a personal goal. I was
afraid that I was going to fail once again during the journey of losing weight. My personal goal
was to lose five pounds by April 1, 2016. I had planned to achieve this goal by eating healthier
snacks, exercising, and meal prepping. Trying to achieve this goal was not easy. I had a constant
temptation of breaking my diet and I kept trying to buy fast food whenever I saw myself tight with
my school and work schedule. However, I was able to achieve my goal because I was meal prepping
every night, I kept an alarm on my phone to remind me when I should be exercising, I read articles
that provided me with a list of healthy foods, I carried a picture...show more content...

main models that served as a guide of which steps I need to take was the chain model. The chain

sequence of my possible decisions. Choosing healthier foods after being used to eating fast food
almost every day was a challenge. Every moment I was about to break my healthy eating habit; I
kept saying positive things to my self. Overall, I am very happy of my results and I am very

Descriptive Essay About My Morning
This morning I woke up, the same as everyday stretching my legs off my bed and onto the floor, my
arms raised up grazing the ceiling. As any other day, I got out of bed and waltzed into the kitchen
where I could smell the aroma of coffee being freshly brewed. My mother was up, bright and early
fixing breakfast for my father who leaves everyday for work promptly at 7:00am. I am not a
morning person, but today the smell of that coffee woke me with ease. If this were any other day, I
wouldn 't have woken so easily. For some reason this day didn 't really feel like every other day. My

I walk to school alone everyday, and that is okay with me because I enjoy the peace, and quite. As
I walk I think about how I can't wait to get to school, but I also think about how when I get to
school I know that every minute that passes is a minute closer to me being back at home. It is a
shame that I think this way. It's a shame because I love my mother, and my father ruins that for me.
In a perfect world I would go home to just my mother, and wouldn 't have to worry about the hatred
that my father endures towards my family, and for no reason at that.
With all these thoughts rushing through my head, I finally realize that I have been daydreaming so
long that I am no longer walking, but I am at a halt in front of the main entrance of my high school.
I say to myself aloud, "If I go in that means I am roughly eight hours from being back at home."
Instead of entering the school I immediately turn around to walk back to my house. Nobody is
there during the day so that means I can actually enjoy being home without the worry of anyone
belittling myself or my mother. My walking now turns into a light jog, as for once I am excited
about the idea of being home. Finally I am approaching the driveway to my house where I see a
strange car parked in front of the garage door. The car appeared to be an old van painted in a dark
matte greenish color. The wheels looked worn as if they have maybe been changed once in the cars
lifetime, and the

Personal Narrative – Rough Draft
The lake glistened before me as my mom and I pulled into Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp just outside
Twin Lakes Michigan. I had been accepted into the International Youth SymphonyOrchestra
program where after spending a week at the camp the entire orchestra would be heading off on a
six week European Tour to share our musical talents and American culture with another part of the
world. I knew traveling to a different continent would give me further insight as to who I was a
person, but did not imagine the people I would meet would impact me as much as they did.
His name was Alex Peabody, a 16 year old junior from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Although we weren't
best friends, we were still close with one another throughout the tour. He had messy brown hair
that framed his round face and always wore a big flashy smile. One of my favorite moments with
him was while we were waiting to board the bus to go the the airport. While we sat waiting, I was
practicing my flute in preparation for our first concert in France. Many of the other students were
practicing, talking, giggling, or sharing newly found favorite songs with their friends. The noise
was deafening and created a carnival of sound that grew louder with each passing minute. Out of
the corner of my eye I saw Alex, a cello player, watching me practice, his eyes bright with
fascination.

The Landlady: A Narrative Essay
"It'd be better if I go off to bed now," said Billy, briskly arising off the couch. He started scaling the
stairs. Hazel swirls encompassed the entirety of each step his foot rested upon. The Landlady
closely followed, frolicking impatiently with her red, darting fingernails and examining Billy's
entire body. With each step Billy took, the staircase creaked and crackled like the fireplace
downstairs. Briskly hopping off the last platform, Billy darted to his room. "Good night then,"
croaked Billy. The Landlady closely followed as he stepped through the doorway. There the dame
stood, silently staring at Billy while he positioned himself on the bed. "So," said Billy with a turn

One of my favorite places to go as a kid was to the reservoir with my family. We would start packing
a few days before we left then my brother and I would go to school on a Friday then afterwards we

was little I felt like my family and I went camping everyday even though it wasn't. I have so many
memories from camping and there so funny. I love to go camping because you can smell the lake,
or you can start a fire which smells so good. When we cook on the fire it smells so good. Waking up
in the morning un zipping the tent and getting out to be able to see the forests is so cool.
Sometimes my brother and I will seat in the woods and watch boats and jet skis go by. While you
are falling asleep you hear animals like coyotes or if someone had dogs you will hear them. When
I wake up in the morning to the birds chirping is amazing. Also waking up in the morning when my
mom was in the middle of cooking potatoes, eggs, and sausage for breakfast you could smell it, it
was the best smell to wake up to. Then she would make hot coco which made it ten times better.
Some days my family and I would go fishing in daytime but every day at night we would go fishing

Personal Narrative– My Love of Reading and Writing
Reading and writing has always played a vital part in my life. From toddler to adult, pre–elementary
to college, I've managed to sharpen both skills to my liking. However, even though it significantly
helped, schooling was not what influenced me to continue developing those skills into talent. Many
different things shaped and influenced my learning, and now reading and writing have become the
safety net of my life. I know that even if I have nothing else in the future, I'll still have my talent
and knowledge. To ensure my success, I hope to further develop those skills so that I may fulfill my

Reading was the new outlet for my imagination and the stories I read fascinated me. They weren't
too unlike the scripts of computer games or the own stories I came up with on my own, but books
actually had the action and emotional aspects written out. And again, while my peers were reading
things about growing up, things that had morals and would teach valuable lessons (I remember one
book about a shoplifter who had to do community service at an animal shelter), I read real fiction:
Jurassic Park, Dragonriders of Pern, Lord of the Rings... Stuff of fantasy and science–fiction that let
my mind stray from reality. Stuff that kept my imagination alive while I was being forced to
learn multiplication and the names of countries. Of course, my teachers encouraged me to keep
reading, as long as I wasn't doing the reading in the middle of their lectures. But it wasn't because
of their influence, however, that kept me interested in books. It was because I loved it. It put
pictures into my head and made me think. So I kept reading. But even then I knew reading wasn't
enough... Yes, the stories were fascinating, but they weren't what I wanted. Back then I wasn't sure
what I wanted, but as middle school came to a close, I found it. All eighth graders had to take a
career class to determine what we wanted to be when we grew up. I remember telling my teacher
that I wanted to be an archaeologist and the strange look she

The Importance Of Narrative Writing
Narrative Writing is a story that is told and the order in which it is told. Some stories have
narrators and some without. The narrator is normally a series of characters or one character who tell
the story. Sometimes narrative writing can be classified as fiction writing which is a made up from
start to finish. When there is narrative writing that is based on true stores, then the narrative writing
is non fiction. Most narrative writing in the law enforcement sector is a "how to" format or a
guideline on how a report should be written. It also explains the actual facts on how a crime
occurred during the investigation. According to the text Biggs (2016), There are five rules of
narrative writing. The first rule of narrative writing is, the report should always be written in first
person. When the narrative explains first person, the narrative is stating that using "I or Me" in
the reports identify the author of the person who is writing the investigative report. If "I or Me"
is not being used to write the investigative reports, the investigation could be sought as made up or
fake. The second rule of narrative writing is, the report should also be written in past tense along
with first person view. According to the text, If you write in the past tense, you will develop
consistency and, as a result, create a report that is professional and easy to read. With this type of
consistency, the reports are easily believable to the reader and makes it easy to follow the

Personal Narrative: My Writing
The best writing I've ever produced is from last semester I wrote a paper for Sociology on how
the movie "Selma" related to what we were learning in class. This is the best writing I've produced
because I thought long and hard about what I was going to write and ended up making a 100 on the
paper which I was very excited about. Another reason is that I'm not particularly exceptional at
writing I struggle with what words to use and how to really make my writing mean something to
the person reading it, and my teacher left me a comment saying how I had thought outside the box
and done very well. When I'm writing, my only fear is that I could be using better words so that's
why after I write a paper I always like to continuously edit it until I'm satisfied. Challenges for me
are thinking of what to write I guess you could say that I get writers block and I must take breaks

The Narrative Essay
*What is a Narrative Essay? Narrative writing tells a story. In essays, the narrative writing could
also be considered reflection or an exploration of the author's values told as a story. The author may
remember his or her past, or a memorable person or event from that past, or even observe the
present. The author may write about: –An experience or event from his or her past. –A recent or
ongoing experience or event. –Something that happened to someone else, such as a parent or a
grandparent.
*Basic qualities of a narrative essay: A narrative essay is a piece ofwriting that recreates an
experience through time. Unlike other essays,...show more content...
*Revising your narrative essay:
After spending time away from the draft of your narrative essay, read through the essay and think
about whether the writing effectively recreates the experience for your readers. Ask other people to
read through the essay and offer their impressions. Identify where more details and descriptions are
needed. Identify and consider removing any information that seems to distract from the focus and
main narrative of the essay. Think about whether you've presented information in the most effective
order.
*Prompts for your narrative essay:
1. A childhood event. Think of an experience when you learned something for the first time, or when
you realized how important someone was for you. 2. Achieving a goal. Think about a particularly
meaningful achievement in your life. This could be something as seemingly minor as achieving a
good grade on a difficult assignment, or this could be something with more long–lasting effects, like
getting the job you desired or getting into the best school to which you applied. 3. A failure.
Think about a time when you did not perform as well as you had wanted. Focusing on an
experience like this can result in rewarding reflections about the positive emerging from the
negative. 4. A good or bad deed. Think about a time when you did or did not stand up for yourself or
someone else in the face of adversity or challenge.

First Person Narrative Essay
The first–person narrative is a story told from the first–person perspective. The narrator is speaking
directly about him or herself. The first–person narrator can be either subjective or objective. The
third–objective narrative is a story told by a nonparticipating character. The narrator is usually
detached from the story. Sometimes, the narrator completely penetrates the mind of a character.
Third–person narration is often used in documentaries. The omniscient narrators are often not part of
the story but are all–knowing observers. These narrators tell the reader all the facts we need to know
to fully understand the story. Since the woman thinks that she is seeing a ghost, I would use the
first–person narration. This way the camera can capture all the action through her eyes and

The story might be told by a group of people or just one person. For instance, the story can be
created by the producers, the directors, and the writers working together. However, in a film with
voice–over narrative, the off–screen narrator is usually also a character in the story but not always.
The narration in realist movies is almost invisible. The story unfolds by itself in a chronological
order. The narration in classical movies is more obvious. There is a discreet storyteller who help
direct the story and keep everything on track. In formalist movies, the narrator is manipulative. The
narrator often destroys the chronological order of the story and restructures events to emphasize a
point. The narration in The Usual Suspects is conspicuous. Verbal Kint is the narrator as well as
one of the main characters in the film. He is manipulative because the story is told from Verbal's

Example Of A Narrative Essay College
A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a
message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are
written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the
writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which
the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it
all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main
events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to

This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me
that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it

choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and
shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for
my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to
Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to

breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever

My Writing Experience Essay
Writing has always been my most difficult part of English. Reading, on the other hand, is
something I could do all day; however, with writing, I grimace just thinking about it. It was not
that I did not have anything to say, because I actually have quite a bit to say. I just could never

However, I have had trouble with writing since it became more than just my alphabet and numbers.

high school the first time I had to write a narrative. I was a freshman. This was Ms. Bradley's first
time teaching at Union Christian Academy. On her first day, she gave us our syllabus and said, "I
do not accept late work, especially on writing assignments." We, literally, sat there stunned. My
freshman class had it very easy during eighth grade year. We were not expecting this. As I looked
through the syllabus, I saw that our first assignment was due in a week and it was a narrative. At
this time, I did not even know what a narrative was. Ms. Bradley explained that a narrative was an
account or story of events. It could be either true or false. Our narrative had to be true. It had to be
a true account of something that happened to us over the summer. She wanted to gauge how are
writing skills were. Our narrative had to be at least two to two and a half pages long. I chose to
write my first ever narrative on my trip to Fort Worth, Texas. Once again, I was plagued with
writer's block. I had the story in my head, but everything I

Personal Narrative Essay: What Makes A Hero?
I was walking down the dark lonely street when I heard screams of fear and loathing. Being a hero
isn't only about saving lives, but the integrity and courage that is portrayed behind the scenes.
Even the people around you are heros in their own way. I was walking along the Manhattan
Bridge listening to a podcast I recorded about mutant animals that have been biting people all
over the world. As soon as the podcast finished a taxi car approached me and the man said to me, "
Sir do you need a ride. I replied with a simple yes and told him to take me to downtown Brookyln.
When I got there I saw a rare animal that shouldn't be in a city like this. It was scorpion sitting on
the sidewalk. I picked it up and when I did it stung

What A Narrative Essay

  • 1. Narrative Essay NARRATIVE ESSAY PROMPTS [Being Unprepared] Because you have been sick, out of town, busy at work, or working on other homework, you didn 't have as much time to study for an important test as you needed. Everyone going to school has been in this situation. Think of a specific test that you took that you felt unprepared for and narrate the events. Tell your readers about the preparation that you were able to do, the reasons that you didn 't get to prepare as well as you wanted, taking the test, and any significant events that happened after you took the test. Your paper should help readers understand what it felt like to be unprepared. [Lightbulb Moment] Think of an experience when you realized that you suddenly understood an...show more content... [Personal Rituals] Describe a personal ritual that you, your friends, or your family have. Think about the personal steps that you always go through when you prepare for an exam. Do you sit at a desk, spread books and notes across your bed, or use the kitchen table? Do you have to have something to drink...soda, water, jolt? There are numerous things that we do for which we create our own personal rituals. Choose one event –– studying for a test, writing a paper, dressing and warming up before a game, or preparing and having a special family meal. Narrate the events that take place when you complete your ritual so that your readers understand the steps that the ritual includes and why you complete them. [Standing Up] Choose a time when you did something that took a lot of nerve, a time when you didn 't follow the crowd or a time when you stood up for your beliefs. Perhaps your friends were urging you to do something that you were uncomfortable with and you chose not to cave into peer pressure. Maybe you took a stance on a political issue that was important in your community, or you might have Whatever you choose, think about the details of the event and write a story that tells about what happened. Yournarrative should show your readers why you decided to make a stand or try something that took nerve, give specifics on the events, and share how you felt after the event. • 2. How To Write A Narrative Essay On Middle School Drama, cliques, and awkwardness make middle school most people's least favorite time. Nothing can make it any worse than it already is. Unless of course, one switches schools right before eighth grade. Before my eighth grade year, I switched from a small charter school in Inver Grove Heights where I had gone since Kindergarten, to Blackhawk Middle School, a much bigger public school in Eagan. I didn't want to leave my old school behind at all. Class sizes there were about fifty, and I had the same friends since Kindergarten. Every inch of the school was familiar to me. I knew all the teachers, and my mother was even friends with many of them. After eight years, I had developed a sort of sixth sense about the school and everyone in it. My transition to Blackhawk Middle School was one of the greatest challenges I've experienced. The change was drastic, and it was very hard for me to adjust....show more content... Just walking into the school was overwhelming. Compared to my previous school, it was massive. Everyone already had friends from their previous two years in middle school. The system of changing rooms for every class was alien to me, so of course, I got lost quite a bit. Further complicating the matter was the fact that there was a different schedule every other day. I didn't realize that until first period on the second day of school, when a rather unfriendly girl told me to get out of her seat. During my first weeks at school, I kept my head down and didn't talk much. I didn't participate in class out of fear of drawing attention to myself and was too shy to approach anyone. Things started to get better when my English teacher made an announcement about the beginning of Declam season, a middle school speech competition. At my old school, there was nothing of the sort. Curious, I attended the information session and was immediately Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Narrative Essay Achieving the American Dream Gentle, Revised Narrative Essay One would think that purchasing your first home would be a very fascinating experience; after all it is one of the most major purchases of your entire life. In America, home ownership ties in with the American Dream and the spirit of working hard to one day earn through hard work a home with a white picket fence. My husband and I felt that it was time for us to reward ourselves for all the hard work we have been putting in over the years by purchasing our first home, which was well overdue. I quickly learned the process of purchasing your first home can be very frustrating and stressful. However, if you survive the home buying process the reward is priceless once you move ...show more content... A short sale can take up to six months to be approved, and I did not have time for that ,because, my existing lease had already expired on my rental home. I begin to work with a realtor who was also an investor. She had a lovely home for sale in a beautiful neighborhood. I extended an offer to her on the home, and she said that she would need to talk it over with her husband. She later contacted me to advise me that she had agreed to accept a cash offer on the home. I continued to look for the perfect home and was not having much success. I soon discovered that the realtor had a new house on the market in the same beautiful neighborhood. I contacted her right away and made an offer on the house. Once she accepted my offer we signed and faxed the contract to the bank right away. The realtor and I both agreed on a closing date which was 45 days from the date we signed the contract. At this point, it was time to make sure that we met all of underwriting guidelines. It was not only important for us to meet all of the bank stipulations but the actual house had to meet bank standards in order for the bank to approve the loan. Shortly, after faxing the contract over to the bank I was contacted by my loan processor, her name was Emily. She told me everything that I needed and I emailed Emily the requirements within 24 hours. The only thing that was pending to my knowledge was the appraisal on the house which I had Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Narrative Essay About Being Trapped I decided to stay in town for Miss Callie's funeral and to help with her family that was still in town. The loss hurt many who were close to her especially Esau who had loved her for many years. The funeral had arrived very quickly as Miss Callie had requested a burial. As I walked up to her casket my knees became weak as tragic memories flashed before me of everything that has happened to the town. I noticed Esau, and tried my hardest to remain strong for him. A few more steps and I would be looking at a beloved friend who I would consider my family. I missed her already as I saw her and realized I would never be able to have a good quality conversation with her again. I gave my condolences to Esau and the rest of Miss Callie's family before...show more content... I quickly went home and packed what I would need for a while and other little important things. I made a call to professional movers to pack up my stuff and put it in storage then an additional call to a realtor to sell the house. I got in my little car and headed North while booking two flights to Europe. Even though Miss Callie would not be able to receive lovely gifts from Europe I still wanted to go for her. Ginger had agreed to go with me and she apologized for not getting in contact. We made it to Europe and it was crazy different from small town Clanton. It was almost overwhelming, but it was all worth it. Everyday there was something new and different to try. About a week into our trip, I get a call from my realtor telling me the Padgitt clan was interested in buying my house. I was not even halfway through my sentence when I nearly choked on the rest of my sentence. The realtor said, "They are willing to buy it for 2.5 million dollars." I didn't even have to think about the answer...yes 2.5 million dollars is a large amount of money, but I would never put the town of Clanton through something they had already been through. It hadn't even been a year since everything had happened in the small town. I would most definitely not be the one to give a single chance to the Padgitts. The realtor was upset with me but understood and delivered the news right away. The Padgitts will not step foot anywhere near the people I care about in that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Literacy Narrative Essay example At this point in my life I find myself in an interesting predicament regarding my attitudes toward reading and writing; more so towards reading. Years ago I used to love reading books for pleasure but nowadays I find myself reading things that little to no effort to digest. This includes the very basic posts on facebook expressing one's opinion on something or articles and threads on reddit discussing topics I find intriguing. Perhaps it's the severe senioritis that has overcome me as I enter my last semester at Chapman University. As I've gotten lazier I can see it start to reflect in my everyday life. Deep down I still love to read but I rarely find myself getting truly invested into the action unless it relates to something I am very...show more content... You can feed the mind as much as you want and it will never get full of reading. Sadly, I'm not the same person that I was. I guess you could say it's part of growing up. It never really was intentional but it's just the way how it ended up. On the other hand my attitudes toward writing are very different. First let me say that deep down I truly do not like to write. I myself don't personally like to write for leisure or pleasure but rather I write because I believe it is one of the most important aspects of being able to communicate with those around you, both personally and professionally. To put differently, my attitude towards writing is that I write because I need to write and survive in the world around me. I write because I have to, not because I want to. Hopefully this somewhat makes sense. To better explain let me make a comparison. When I am assigned a writing assignment or I am writing because the action is being forced upon me I find myself not enjoying the process and overall the end result is subpar. The perfect example of this would be my junior year in high school when I was enrolled in AP english literature. I dreaded the majority of the class simply because there was so much writing involved in the entire course and therefore I was constantly writing just to get a grade. Being forced to write in such high volume every week for an entire school year was not enjoyable for myself and as a result the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. Achieving A Personal Goal In the beginning of the semester, I felt a little annoyed that I had to plan a personal goal. I was afraid that I was going to fail once again during the journey of losing weight. My personal goal was to lose five pounds by April 1, 2016. I had planned to achieve this goal by eating healthier snacks, exercising, and meal prepping. Trying to achieve this goal was not easy. I had a constant temptation of breaking my diet and I kept trying to buy fast food whenever I saw myself tight with my school and work schedule. However, I was able to achieve my goal because I was meal prepping every night, I kept an alarm on my phone to remind me when I should be exercising, I read articles that provided me with a list of healthy foods, I carried a picture...show more content... • 7. Descriptive Essay About My Morning This morning I woke up, the same as everyday stretching my legs off my bed and onto the floor, my arms raised up grazing the ceiling. As any other day, I got out of bed and waltzed into the kitchen where I could smell the aroma of coffee being freshly brewed. My mother was up, bright and early fixing breakfast for my father who leaves everyday for work promptly at 7:00am. I am not a morning person, but today the smell of that coffee woke me with ease. If this were any other day, I wouldn 't have woken so easily. For some reason this day didn 't really feel like every other day. My mother, and I have a decent relationship. You could say we have a normal mother daughter relationship comparable to anyone else. We go shopping, to...show more content... I walk to school alone everyday, and that is okay with me because I enjoy the peace, and quite. As I walk I think about how I can't wait to get to school, but I also think about how when I get to school I know that every minute that passes is a minute closer to me being back at home. It is a shame that I think this way. It's a shame because I love my mother, and my father ruins that for me. In a perfect world I would go home to just my mother, and wouldn 't have to worry about the hatred that my father endures towards my family, and for no reason at that. With all these thoughts rushing through my head, I finally realize that I have been daydreaming so long that I am no longer walking, but I am at a halt in front of the main entrance of my high school. I say to myself aloud, "If I go in that means I am roughly eight hours from being back at home." Instead of entering the school I immediately turn around to walk back to my house. Nobody is there during the day so that means I can actually enjoy being home without the worry of anyone belittling myself or my mother. My walking now turns into a light jog, as for once I am excited about the idea of being home. Finally I am approaching the driveway to my house where I see a strange car parked in front of the garage door. The car appeared to be an old van painted in a dark matte greenish color. The wheels looked worn as if they have maybe been changed once in the cars lifetime, and the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Personal Narrative Carleigh Grupe Professor Schnell English 1301 9 September 2015 Personal Narrative – Rough Draft The lake glistened before me as my mom and I pulled into Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp just outside Twin Lakes Michigan. I had been accepted into the International Youth SymphonyOrchestra program where after spending a week at the camp the entire orchestra would be heading off on a six week European Tour to share our musical talents and American culture with another part of the world. I knew traveling to a different continent would give me further insight as to who I was a person, but did not imagine the people I would meet would impact me as much as they did. His name was Alex Peabody, a 16 year old junior from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Although we weren't best friends, we were still close with one another throughout the tour. He had messy brown hair that framed his round face and always wore a big flashy smile. One of my favorite moments with him was while we were waiting to board the bus to go the the airport. While we sat waiting, I was practicing my flute in preparation for our first concert in France. Many of the other students were practicing, talking, giggling, or sharing newly found favorite songs with their friends. The noise was deafening and created a carnival of sound that grew louder with each passing minute. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Alex, a cello player, watching me practice, his eyes bright with fascination. "Alex, do you know how to play flute?" I called to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Hazel swirls encompassed the entirety of each step his foot rested upon. The Landlady closely followed, frolicking impatiently with her red, darting fingernails and examining Billy's entire body. With each step Billy took, the staircase creaked and crackled like the fireplace downstairs. Briskly hopping off the last platform, Billy darted to his room. "Good night then," croaked Billy. We would start packing a few days before we left then my brother and I would go to school on a Friday then afterwards we would go camping. Every time I would hurry home because I was so ready to go camping. When I was little I felt like my family and I went camping everyday even though it wasn't. I have so many memories from camping and there so funny. I love to go camping because you can smell the lake, or you can start a fire which smells so good. When we cook on the fire it smells so good. Waking up in the morning un zipping the tent and getting out to be able to see the forests is so cool. Sometimes my brother and I will seat in the woods and watch boats and jet skis go by. While you are falling asleep you hear animals like coyotes or if someone had dogs you will hear them. When I wake up in the morning to the birds chirping is amazing. Also waking up in the morning when my mom was in the middle of cooking potatoes, eggs, and sausage for breakfast you could smell it, it was the best smell to wake up to. Then she would make hot coco which made it ten times better. Some days my family and I would go fishing in daytime but every day at night we would go fishing till 3:00 sometimes earlier. If my brother and I were bored we would go into a forest and play a game like hide and go seek, or tag. I know I few times my brother and I would build forts out of trees and sticks. And again, while my peers were reading things about growing up, things that had morals and would teach valuable lessons (I remember one book about a shoplifter who had to do community service at an animal shelter), I read real fiction: Jurassic Park, Dragonriders of Pern, Lord of the Rings... Stuff of fantasy and science–fiction that let my mind stray from reality. Stuff that kept my imagination alive while I was being forced to learn multiplication and the names of countries. Of course, my teachers encouraged me to keep reading, as long as I wasn't doing the reading in the middle of their lectures. But it wasn't because of their influence, however, that kept me interested in books. It was because I loved it. It put pictures into my head and made me think. So I kept reading. But even then I knew reading wasn't enough... Yes, the stories were fascinating, but they weren't what I wanted. Back then I wasn't sure what I wanted, but as middle school came to a close, I found it. All eighth graders had to take a career class to determine what we wanted to be when we grew up. I remember telling my teacher that I wanted to be an archaeologist and the strange look she Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. The Importance Of Narrative Writing Narrative Writing is a story that is told and the order in which it is told. Some stories have narrators and some without. The narrator is normally a series of characters or one character who tell the story. Sometimes narrative writing can be classified as fiction writing which is a made up from start to finish. When there is narrative writing that is based on true stores, then the narrative writing is non fiction. Most narrative writing in the law enforcement sector is a "how to" format or a guideline on how a report should be written. It also explains the actual facts on how a crime occurred during the investigation. According to the text Biggs (2016), There are five rules of narrative writing. The first rule of narrative writing is, the report should always be written in first person. When the narrative explains first person, the narrative is stating that using "I or Me" in the reports identify the author of the person who is writing the investigative report. If "I or Me" is not being used to write the investigative reports, the investigation could be sought as made up or fake. The second rule of narrative writing is, the report should also be written in past tense along with first person view. According to the text, If you write in the past tense, you will develop consistency and, as a result, create a report that is professional and easy to read. With this type of consistency, the reports are easily believable to the reader and makes it easy to follow the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Personal Narrative: My Writing The best writing I've ever produced is from last semester I wrote a paper for Sociology on how the movie "Selma" related to what we were learning in class. This is the best writing I've produced because I thought long and hard about what I was going to write and ended up making a 100 on the paper which I was very excited about. Another reason is that I'm not particularly exceptional at writing I struggle with what words to use and how to really make my writing mean something to the person reading it, and my teacher left me a comment saying how I had thought outside the box and done very well. When I'm writing, my only fear is that I could be using better words so that's why after I write a paper I always like to continuously edit it until I'm satisfied. Challenges for me are thinking of what to write I guess you could say that I get writers block and I must take breaks and really think about what I want my paper to convey, but once I get an idea usually I'm and can come up with more ideas it's just really that first few sentences in a paragraph that get me....show more content... Ill thinks long and hard about my opening sentence and after I've come up with a good one the words just come into my head and I type them. Then I reread them to make sure that they make sense. Since I'm still in high school I do think that my writing style really has room to grow as I discover myself and who I want to be. I'd say that my process could improve, there's always someone can improve or makes themselves better. For right now I think my process works, I think it works because I've never received a bad grade on something I written. Sure, my drafts have always had lots of red marks but doesn't everyone's? Like I said you can always improve and that's what I'd really like to do in English Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Narrative Essay The Narrative Essay *What is a Narrative Essay? Narrative writing tells a story. In essays, the narrative writing could also be considered reflection or an exploration of the author's values told as a story. The author may remember his or her past, or a memorable person or event from that past, or even observe the present. The author may write about: –An experience or event from his or her past. –A recent or ongoing experience or event. –Something that happened to someone else, such as a parent or a grandparent. *Basic qualities of a narrative essay: A narrative essay is a piece ofwriting that recreates an experience through time. Unlike other essays,...show more content... *Revising your narrative essay: After spending time away from the draft of your narrative essay, read through the essay and think about whether the writing effectively recreates the experience for your readers. Ask other people to read through the essay and offer their impressions. Identify where more details and descriptions are needed. Identify and consider removing any information that seems to distract from the focus and main narrative of the essay. Think about whether you've presented information in the most effective order. *Prompts for your narrative essay: 1. A childhood event. Think of an experience when you learned something for the first time, or when you realized how important someone was for you. 2. Achieving a goal. Think about a particularly meaningful achievement in your life. This could be something as seemingly minor as achieving a good grade on a difficult assignment, or this could be something with more long–lasting effects, like getting the job you desired or getting into the best school to which you applied. 3. A failure. Think about a time when you did not perform as well as you had wanted. Focusing on an experience like this can result in rewarding reflections about the positive emerging from the negative. 4. A good or bad deed. Think about a time when you did or did not stand up for yourself or someone else in the face of adversity or challenge. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. First Person Narrative Essay The first–person narrative is a story told from the first–person perspective. The narrator is speaking directly about him or herself. The first–person narrator can be either subjective or objective. The third–objective narrative is a story told by a nonparticipating character. The narrator is usually detached from the story. Sometimes, the narrator completely penetrates the mind of a character. Third–person narration is often used in documentaries. The omniscient narrators are often not part of the story but are all–knowing observers. These narrators tell the reader all the facts we need to know to fully understand the story. Since the woman thinks that she is seeing a ghost, I would use the first–person narration. For instance, the story can be created by the producers, the directors, and the writers working together. However, in a film with voice–over narrative, the off–screen narrator is usually also a character in the story but not always. The narration in realist movies is almost invisible. The story unfolds by itself in a chronological order. The narration in classical movies is more obvious. There is a discreet storyteller who help direct the story and keep everything on track. In formalist movies, the narrator is manipulative. The narrator often destroys the chronological order of the story and restructures events to emphasize a point. The narration in The Usual Suspects is conspicuous. Verbal Kint is the narrator as well as one of the main characters in the film. He is manipulative because the story is told from Verbal's point of Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Personal Narrative Thesis Statement This weeks' review is all about revisions, both large scale and small scale revisions to help us complete our final essay, the home stretch in this course. I have revised my essay at least ten times over the past few weeks. Being a professional for the past 20+ years summarizing what is said in something more than a bullet point or short email has proven to be difficult. What was I trying to communicate in my earlier versions is very close to where I am today but the route I am taking to get to this conclusions is much different thank I had anticipated . My ideas were all over the map and didn't make any sense, in the beginning, the reverse outline helped tremendously. I have a decent thesis statement. I'm finding it difficult to have solid topic sentences, and bringing everything together has also been a challenge....show more content... The reverse outline did help me focus on the key points of my thesis statement yet the body of some of the paragraphs are lacking something. I am going to read it backward tonight. This is a completely alien concept to me and one I would never think of doing. Getting input from an outside source and trying something different and new in my review process will hopefully get me more focused on my topic sentences and make the rest of the essay easier to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. Example Of A Narrative Essay College A narrative essay is a story that is true and has meaning, whether it be to prove a point, send a message, explain an event that's happened, or entertain the reader. Most narrative essays are written to convey a story from a past time that sends a message to not only the reader, but the writer themselves. When planning a narrative essay, the first step is to identify the topic in which the writer wants to explain. There are multiple ways in which the you can come up with a topic, it all depends on the style you're most comfortable with. The next step is to write down all the main events that supports the topic you have chosen. What main events led up to the story you're trying to approach? What key events made what your topic is all about?...show more content... This event made a big impact on my life as it showed me the value of work ethic by showing me that hard work pays off. It also taught me to never give up and follow your heart. And lastly, it taught me the importance of a team to help me through the tough practices and mental battles. When choosing my topic, I wrote down 3 main events that were important in my life that impacted me and shaped myself into the person I am today. The 3 I chose were: breaking the 3200–meter record for my school, breaking the 4x800 record with my team, and lastly, moving from Poinciana to Kissimmee and leaving all my friends to take on a new chapter in my life. The topic I chose to write is one I feel very passionate about and the single memory I can recall the most. Although breaking the 4x800 record with my team was a memorable moment and the first record I'd ever broken at my school, nothing compared to the feeling I got when I broke an individual record that was held by my own coach. I had a sense of relief and happiness, not just for myself, but my coach as well. It felt as if I didn't just break the record for the sake of me personally, but for him too. May have taken 21 years to be broken, but I'd say it sure was worth Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. My Writing Experience Essay Writing has always been my most difficult part of English. Reading, on the other hand, is something I could do all day; however, with writing, I grimace just thinking about it. It was not that I did not have anything to say, because I actually have quite a bit to say. I just could never figure out how to phrase what I had to say in just right way on the page. My mom taught me to read and write at a young age. After that, I would devour any book that I could get my hands on. However, I have had trouble with writing since it became more than just my alphabet and numbers. In elementary, I got through assignments by making my projects read like a boring fact book. This way was awesome for a high grade, not so great for writing interesting...show more content... Mullins comments and said, "Next time, you will just have to change it up a bit." I asked her what she meant. My mom said, "Next time you will make it more fun, not so much like a timeline, and more like a true story about your subject." This was my first experience in writing for a grade. I learned a lot and I immediately applied to my future written assignments. I was in high school the first time I had to write a narrative. I was a freshman. This was Ms. Bradley's first time teaching at Union Christian Academy. On her first day, she gave us our syllabus and said, "I do not accept late work, especially on writing assignments." We, literally, sat there stunned. My freshman class had it very easy during eighth grade year. We were not expecting this. As I looked through the syllabus, I saw that our first assignment was due in a week and it was a narrative. At this time, I did not even know what a narrative was. Ms. Bradley explained that a narrative was an account or story of events. It could be either true or false. Our narrative had to be true. It had to be a true account of something that happened to us over the summer. She wanted to gauge how are writing skills were. Our narrative had to be at least two to two and a half pages long. I chose to write my first ever narrative on my trip to Fort Worth, Texas. Once again, I was plagued with writer's block. I had the story in my head, but everything I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. Personal Narrative Essay: What Makes A Hero? I was walking down the dark lonely street when I heard screams of fear and loathing. Being a hero isn't only about saving lives, but the integrity and courage that is portrayed behind the scenes. Even the people around you are heros in their own way. I was walking along the Manhattan Bridge listening to a podcast I recorded about mutant animals that have been biting people all over the world. As soon as the podcast finished a taxi car approached me and the man said to me, " Sir do you need a ride. I replied with a simple yes and told him to take me to downtown Brookyln. When I got there I saw a rare animal that shouldn't be in a city like this. It was scorpion sitting on the sidewalk. I picked it up and when I did it stung Get more content on HelpWriting.net
