The future [of pixels] is in our hands (first draft)
1. The future [of pixels]
is in our hands
Initiated parTimothy Duquesne (@timothyduquesne),
amplified by ChezNous
and enriched by a community.

2. Pixels are all the images we pay attention to through the various screens which
surround us nowadays.
Whenever we turn our TV on, our laptop, our tablet or our smartphone, we pay
attention to pixels.
We finance, we produce, we share pixels... whatever the name we give them
Pixels ?

4. Series, feature films, TV programs, webseries, transmedia fictions, documentary
films or series, webdocumentaries, newspaper articles, blog articles, radio shows,
clips,TV ads, banners, brand content, social networks, pictures, tweets, apps, video
games, digital books, etc.
We have historically categorized pixels.
The pixels we inherit from
5. Not only do we inherit from the categorization of pixels, we also inherit from
rules that govern the way we finance, produce, have access to or share pixels.
The relationships between the various players of the world of pixels arise from
those rules.
We inherit from a situation.
It’s up to us to invent the future.
The rules we inherit from
6. In order to invent the future, we need to be aware of the new environment our
ocean of pixels represents.
Knowing that...
7. All our screens give us access to all the different kinds of pixels.
The boundaries between pixels have shattered
8. We have access to pixels from all over the world.
The pixels we produce can be accessed from anywhere in the world.
The boundaries between us have shattered
9. We’ve never had access to as many pixels as today.
And, it’s only the beginning!
The ocean of pixels, already limitless, expands every day immeasurably, at a
growing pace.
We are immersed in an infinite ocean of pixels
10. Our days being only 24 hours long, our screen time is necessarily limited.
The ocean of pixels being infinite, each of our choices has a growing impact on
the future of our ocean of pixels and on his players.
Our power is therefore reinforced daily.
We are endowed with a power : choice
11. Not only do we pay attention to pixels. We finance, we produce pixels,... and we
have the ability to spread any pixel globally at the speed of light.
By each of our choices, we exercise our power and build our ocean of pixels
every single second spent in front of a screen.
We even have a super power
12. By each of our choices, we contribute in shaping the ocean of pixels non only for
ourselves and for our children but also, by structuring its foundations, for the
future generations.
We are also building for tomorrow
13. The world of pixels and the physical world being closely intertwined, shaping our
ocean of pixels is also shaping our world.
Therefore, each of us has in its hands a super power to shape the world the
future generations will inherit from us.
Not only the ocean of pixels but the world
14. What are we doing with our super power ?
What approaches are we pushing forward ?
What rules are we inventing ?
What tools are we building and using ?
...
We have a responsibility

16. The future [of pixels] is in our hands aims at enabling us...
- to understand the ocean of pixel’s perpetual mutation whatever role we play,
- to understand the stakes,
- to fully become active players since each of us contributes in determining
tomorrow’s winners.
To be conscious of our role
17. - towards increased respect for the viewers / the users we all are,
- towards increased respect for the creators,
- for a better world : ethical, honest, respectful, tolerant, cooperative, joyful, fair,
sustainable.
In order to shape our ocean of pixels
18. What truly matters, whatever the nature of pixels :
- the quality of the experience they offer,
- the message and the values they convey,
- the respect (for our intelligence / our contribution / our privacy) they show us,
- the trust we can place in them,
- the world they contribute to shape.
For the viewers / users we all are
19. What truly matters, whatever the nature of pixels :
- our artistic / editorial freedom when we create them,
- our place in their business model.
For the creators
20. The stakes are the same, whatever our country. Creators, for instance, whatever
the way they express themselves and the country where they work are facing
the exact same issues.

understand its mutation,

winners. The books aims at explaining why and help them, supported by their
viewers to lead a peaceful revolution, pixel after pixel. It can be seen as an
interactive toolbox illustrated with many case studies,
- Helping all player whose goals are commendable to take advantage of the
mutation.
