Liquid Cooling/ Warming Garments<br />Most are vests and suits designed to control core body temperature1<br />Have been used recently to delay muscle fatigue and decrease heat injury occurrences of individuals working in extreme environments<br />CAMS developed sleeves or wraps used for particular body parts or muscle groups<br />EMS treatment of nerve trauma patients2<br />Lowers core temperature prevents apoptosis of nerve cells<br />Reduces cell death cascade in CNS<br />

Pre-Cooling and Intermittent Cooling<br />Precooling <br />Decreasing an individual’s core body temperature below 37 degrees Celsius before intense activity3<br />Usually for a long period (30 min-1 hr) of active cooling followed by a short period (10-15 min)of inactive resting before intense activity3<br />Increases time before an individual experiences heat stress5<br />Intermittent Cooling<br />Cooling in between periods of intense activity<br />Offsets muscle fatigue3<br />Lowers the concentration of Lactic Acid and HCO3 in muscles4<br />
