Toby Wylde
2.
3. Blogger
I used blogger to document all of the initial stages I went
through to create my final products.
Documenting my planning, research, feedback and
production stages it enables me to track my own
progress in a structured way. This enables me to view
what I have completed and see easily see my research
so I can act upon what I have taken from these tasks.
As blogger acts a a public profile that anyone can see, it
allows people interested in the production to comment on
any of the posts that I have on the blog. I can then use
these comment to improve upon my work.
4.
5. PowerPoint
I have used PowerPoint in order to display some of the
research and planning that I have completed.
I feel that sometimes large walls of text are intimidating
and I wanted a way to present this same information in a
more structured and enjoyable way. PowerPoint I feel is
often more less formal that would appeal more to my
kind of audience, it also enables me to put each sections
point across in a simple clear way as there is not much
room for text.
6.
7. Prezi
I have used Prezi to display my music video pitch.
I was to present the pitch in front of an audience so I
wanted something that looked professional but also
looked fun and not to formal as I feel something more
serious would not appeal to the target audience I
intended to show it to. This is why I chose to use Prezi.
8.
9. Video Recorder
For recording the music video I used a Sony Handycam.
This camera was perfect for what we needed as we ha
little to no budget this light weight and cheap camera was
perfect for the task. It recorded sound as well as video
and it had a socket at the bottom to attach a tripod to
enable steady shots.
10.
11. Final Cut Pro
I have used Final Cut for the editing of the music video.
Unlike iMovie, this package gave me complete control of
the clips that I recorded.
This has been the first time I have used the software
extensively and have learnt a range of new things that I
have aided in the creation of my final music video. I
have learnt the trim and blade tool that enabled me to cut
down clips in order to make them fit within the timing of
the music. I also learnt how to embed text on a video,
which I used for the opening sequence of the video.
12.
13. Compressor
When exporting my music video from Final Cut I found
the file size almost exceeded 1GB. I used Compressor in
order to convert my .MOV file into a more compressed
format such as .MP4.
Having a smaller file size for the video enabled me to
share it more easier and quicker.
14.
15. Photoshop
I have used Photoshop to design both my magazine
advert and my digipak. Photoshop enables me to have
full control of the graphical elements of the design and
with it wide range of tools it has enabled me to make an
effective design that is appropriate for my audience.
I use Photoshop regularly both inside and out of college
so I already had prior knowledge of the software when
designing my digipak and advert. Although I haven’t
learned anything new, I feel that this program is essential
for designing an effective and professional looking print
work.
16.
17. YouTube
In order to share my video to a wide audience I have
used YouTube. As this is one of the most popular video
sharing sites, most websites support YouTube embedded
links. I took advantage of this and posted my video to my
blog as well as Facebook in order to gather audience
feedback. I also can receive feedback from YouTube
comments from users on a large, international scale.
18.
19. Facebook
I used Facebook to post my work and gather audience
feedback. I chose Facebook specifically to get audience
feedback as I feel that I will get honest and detailed
feedback as there is more time to think about what to
write. There is also no pressure in thinking of what to say
like in video feedback.
Facebook also enables me to target specific people, for
feedback, for who my music videos target audience is
due to its large user base.
20.
21. DSLR Camera
I used a Fujifilm DSLR camera in order to take pictures
of the band to use with the the magazine advert and the
Digipack.
I decided to use a DSLR as this creates a high resolution
image which is both clear and looks professional.
22.
23. Calendar
I have used the OSX Calendar app in order to plan when
I'm going to do certain tasks within the project. I used the
calendar to plan when I was going to film and edit the
music video. I also used the calendar to record when the
actors and production team were free.
Using the OSX calendar app made the events synced to
all my devices such as my phone so I always had access
and could edit and add new events at anytime.
24.
25. Excel
I have used Excel to display some of the results from my
audience feedback. Some of my audience feedback
required yes or no answers or required an audience to
pick one option out of a range. I found the most effective
and visual way to present these kind of results was using
excels built in bar graph feature.
Using this enables me to see quickly what the most
popular option was which helped lead me to develop my
work based on these results.
