We will share a joint account on Statcounter while examining webstats during #fitnessmedia.
It's not unusual to spell Tumblr wrong.
Your webstats work is designed to show up on a shared dashboard. That dashboard is accessible by logging in as Topgold on Statcounter.
Note that you are accessing Statcounter as Topgold.
A common mistake is setting up your own Statcounter account. You can do this later. For the purpose of the #fitnessmedia module, we share a common account and also learn to carefully respect a community dashboard.
Passwords for Statcounter change throughout the module.
Statcounter leads people through the creation and selection of HTML code.
Use the Tumblr dashboard.
Access Tumblr settings to insert the Statcounter code.
Edit your Tumblr theme to install Statcounter code.
Be careful when editing your HTML. Remember to insert your Statcounter code immediately before the closing </BODY> tag.
HTML code can look daunting.
Ask for help before you insert and save the wrong code snippet.
Save your work. Then refresh your Tumblr browser view and check your work.
Compare your views to those registered by other #fitnessmedia participants.
Expect to see a peak on the day you set up Statcounter because when you edit Tumblr's templates, several electronic bots will look to see what you did to your Tumblr blog.
We will record your observations throughout the #fitnessmedia tutorial sessions and try to determine what you have learned from your webstats.
Extract business intelligence from the words your visitors used to find your site.
Referrer strings are listed as one of the items tracked and displayed by Statcounter.
You need a Tumblr account with an active Tumblr URL.
Moodle directs that your account (1) includes at least 10 items posted in the time frame 10 Sep to 10 Dec, (2) includes at least four items incorporating a photo, video or animated image, (3) includes a Tumblr item that earned at least 20 or more "likes" throughout the history of your account, (4) includes at least five items you have reblogged from another Tumblr account.
