What have you learned from your audience feedback?
You mustseekfeedbackfromafocusgroup to informthissectionof the evaluation. You It is very
significant for me to gain feedback on my coursework. So halfway through the process of
creating the music video and digipaks and advertisement poster I gave my target audience
the opportunity to see the work. By doing so I could gain there view on my work when then
meant I could make changes which would hopefully result in the end product being more
appealing and successful. After adapting some factors, I then I asked for the audience’s
opinion again but a different group would therefore highlight some different factors to
improve on.
To the right shows the digipak front and back
cover so to find out what reception I would
receive from my audience I targeted 3 people all
ages around 18 for their opinion on the digipaks.
The response I received was very positive with
the target market liking the fact that there is a
theme throughout the images. This was voiced
to attract the audience as it created character
and a story for the album. However, some feedback which I also gained about the theme
was that they felt that it would be more effective if the inside spread was a different colour
to the outside colours. But, Coburn and I opted to keep them the same colour as we
believed that if we added more colour it would cheapen the product. Another factor of
which they found appealing about the simplicity of the digipaks which allows you to focus
on the images and the title, song names. By using adding the production team and barcode
it makes the digipak look more professional suggesting that it is more expensive. This would
overall create a good image for the brand of the musician.
When gaining feedback on the inside of
the digipak we had mixed reviews. Some
suggest that it was intriguing with the
images being swapped and edited onto
the fact. Others saying that there is no
link. Nevertheless, on every page there is a
different landscape which also links to the
title of the album. As we have water,
forest, open land and wall work. Originally
we had the images of Sasha on opposite sides to what they are now so from our feedback
they suggested about changing the sides which we did so. It looks a lot more suited and
comfortable with this layout of the digipak. The audience which I targeted also made it clear
that they liked the fact that there were lyrics within the digipak as it showed what the focus/
main song was within the album. This therefore meant that it allows the public to connect
to the artist which allows you to understand the purpose.
By using the same person on the front and the back cover it allows a theme to be created.
Then within the digipak we opted to change the person. Also, when we asked for feedback
an often question which was asked was whether the girls included in the digipak have any
link to the artist once told that there isn’t. They liked this factor because it creates the sense
of suspicion. So, we have still made the connection to a woman creating the album however
we have kept the details which would therefore entice people to find out more about the
artist.
To the left shows our advertisement poster which also shows a
viewing of the front cover of the album. After gaining feedback
we changed the title to green as it was white originally and
wasn’t clear enough. So, to make it bolder and more
aesthetically pleasing we made the change to the green which
also linked to the same colour of the front cover. The ‘Out
Now’ is also more appealing after the colour change which the
audience much preferred. Again, once gaining feedback they
liked how the simplicity allows you to focus on the
photography which is trying to promote something. This was
noticed by the audience showing that they liked the message
that the advertisement poster was promoting. Also, my target
audience also suggest that they liked the black and white filter which allows you to focus on
the key factors around the poster such as the album name, reviews, artist name etc. A way
that was suggested to improve would be to make the text within the poster bolder which
would make it clearer to read and more eye catching. But then you have the issue of the
text taking up a lot of space and somehow may overpower the photography.
Then when reviewing my music video. Due to my first round of research it led me to change
my entire setting and story to my music video. This would-be as the feedback from my
audience which I gained was very mixed however overall I inferred that they thought it had
no structure or meaning. So, I opted to start again and try to introduce a story and I chose to
film normally and not attempt to create an edgy video. The reason for me organically
attempting to do so was due to house and party music videos often don’t carry an obvious
story. They are often random as involve didn’t scenes and a large spread of people. So,
when creating my music video, I opted to follow a story which links to friendship and good
times. So, after asking for feedback they much referred the story behind it and the idea of
being happy when surrounded by friends enjoying fun experience. Another beneficial factor
which the audience enjoyed was the amount of scene changes which therefor entices them
to carry on watching whereas if it was focused in on area it would be hard to stay interested
and excited.
When carrying out my research on whether people enjoyed my video I found that people
were extremely keen on the re-winded scenes. So, by introducing such a simple editing
factor within the software I chose to edit the video within it increased the interest
dramatically when considering scenes. Especially when considering the end of the music
video which involved the story being concluded of the main character Izzy being lonely and
dependent on her friends. When gaining feedback, I had quite positive feedback on the fact
that the story was well concluded by simple rewinding the footage. This showed the
friendship group together having fun then the sense of leaving your friends due to different
situations such as finishing school and having to venture off on your own. So, throughout
the video the audience suggested that they like all the hidden messages.

Evaluation - Question 3

  • 1. What have you learned from your audience feedback? You mustseekfeedbackfromafocusgroup to informthissectionof the evaluation. You It is very significant for me to gain feedback on my coursework. So halfway through the process of creating the music video and digipaks and advertisement poster I gave my target audience the opportunity to see the work. By doing so I could gain there view on my work when then meant I could make changes which would hopefully result in the end product being more appealing and successful. After adapting some factors, I then I asked for the audience’s opinion again but a different group would therefore highlight some different factors to improve on. To the right shows the digipak front and back cover so to find out what reception I would receive from my audience I targeted 3 people all ages around 18 for their opinion on the digipaks. The response I received was very positive with the target market liking the fact that there is a theme throughout the images. This was voiced to attract the audience as it created character and a story for the album. However, some feedback which I also gained about the theme was that they felt that it would be more effective if the inside spread was a different colour to the outside colours. But, Coburn and I opted to keep them the same colour as we believed that if we added more colour it would cheapen the product. It looks a lot more suited and comfortable with this layout of the digipak. The audience which I targeted also made it clear that they liked the fact that there were lyrics within the digipak as it showed what the focus/ main song was within the album. This therefore meant that it allows the public to connect to the artist which allows you to understand the purpose. By using the same person on the front and the back cover it allows a theme to be created. Then within the digipak we opted to change the person. • 2. link to the artist once told that there isn’t. They liked this factor because it creates the sense of suspicion. So, we have still made the connection to a woman creating the album however we have kept the details which would therefore entice people to find out more about the artist. To the left shows our advertisement poster which also shows a viewing of the front cover of the album. After gaining feedback we changed the title to green as it was white originally and wasn’t clear enough. So, to make it bolder and more aesthetically pleasing we made the change to the green which also linked to the same colour of the front cover. The ‘Out Now’ is also more appealing after the colour change which the audience much preferred. Again, once gaining feedback they liked how the simplicity allows you to focus on the photography which is trying to promote something. This was noticed by the audience showing that they liked the message that the advertisement poster was promoting. Also, my target audience also suggest that they liked the black and white filter which allows you to focus on the key factors around the poster such as the album name, reviews, artist name etc. A way that was suggested to improve would be to make the text within the poster bolder which would make it clearer to read and more eye catching. But then you have the issue of the text taking up a lot of space and somehow may overpower the photography. Then when reviewing my music video. Due to my first round of research it led me to change my entire setting and story to my music video. This would-be as the feedback from my audience which I gained was very mixed however overall I inferred that they thought it had no structure or meaning. So, I opted to start again and try to introduce a story and I chose to film normally and not attempt to create an edgy video. The reason for me organically attempting to do so was due to house and party music videos often don’t carry an obvious story. They are often random as involve didn’t scenes and a large spread of people. So, when creating my music video, I opted to follow a story which links to friendship and good times. So, after asking for feedback they much referred the story behind it and the idea of being happy when surrounded by friends enjoying fun experience. Another beneficial factor which the audience enjoyed was the amount of scene changes which therefor entices them to carry on watching whereas if it was focused in on area it would be hard to stay interested and excited. When carrying out my research on whether people enjoyed my video I found that people were extremely keen on the re-winded scenes. So, by introducing such a simple editing factor within the software I chose to edit the video within it increased the interest dramatically when considering scenes. Especially when considering the end of the music video which involved the story being concluded of the main character Izzy being lonely and dependent on her friends. When gaining feedback, I had quite positive feedback on the fact

This showed the friendship group together having fun then the sense of leaving your friends due to different situations such as finishing school and having to venture off on your own. So, throughout the video the audience suggested that they like all the hidden messages.
