nuclear weapons and technology present many opportunities for advancements it
can also present negative impacts on a society. One example is the Chernobyl

• Advancements in medicine
• Changing elements
4. Negative effects of Nuclear Technology
• Expensive ( between 12-18 billion for one project)
• Does not reduce oil dependency
• Contaminates water supplies
• Can’t be managed or stored safely
• No effect on the reduction of carbon emissions
• Exposure to nuclear substances can result in risky or deadly outcomes
5. Effects of Nuclear Technology on Chernobyl
• 600,000 people in affected developed mental issues
• Many people were contaminated with radiation
• Said to be the cause of 4000 cases of thyroid cancer
• Area ruled unsuitable to live in due to nuclear radiation
• 47 worker deaths due to thermal burns and radiation
• Many born with serious birth defects
6. Steps to Change
• Since nuclear technology is serious issue in the 21st century here is what we should do to
change it.

• 2. Test it in a location that no one knows exist
• 3. Find an alternate that is more predictable and safe for the
environment
