Welcome To The New School Year!
It seems like only yesterday we were celebrating our departing
students at our Graduation Party in June! The first day of the
new school year is Tuesday, September 5th
and we are excited
to get started. A warm welcome back to our returning
students and for those who are new to Kiddyland we think you
are in for a great experience.
Field Trips
Your feedback tells us that you would like regularly scheduled field
trips and special events. We are pleased to arrange them as we feel these trips can be of great
benefit.
While we want to schedule trips that the children will find fun, we also want to ensure that there is
some direct connection to their educational development in at least one of the areas we focus on.
For example, our Games Day (see photo above) promotes physical activity and teamwork.

Field Trips (continued)
Our field trips to YVR and the Lonsdale Quay tied in perfectly
with our summer transportation theme.
We generally don’t schedule field trips for the first few weeks
of the school year to allow children the time to adjust to their
new routine, but we will have regular events in October.
Our first scheduled field trip will be to the Main Branch of the
Richmond Public Library (Williams class on Wednesday, October
18th
and Ferris classes on Wednesday, October 25th
)
We see this as a great opportunity to promote language skills
and the joy of reading. The children will also get a behind the
scenes tour of the facility. As we get closer to the field trip date
we will have forms available at the school for parents to fill out
so that their children can receive library cards on our visit (if they
don’t have one already). Details to come!
We are also excited to have a representative from the Richmond
RCMP in to speak with the children at both our Williams and
Ferris locations. This program is designed for young children
and we are sure they will enjoy it!
BC Culture Days at Kiddyland!
Kiddyland is pleased to be part of the 2017 Culture Days
program (Sunday October 1, 11am-3pm at Williams site).
Bring your artistic imagination and help us build a mosaic that
reflects the wide variety of cultures that make Canada great. We
will provide all types of materials and hands on work areas that
will allow you and your family to create something that is
meaningful to your cultural or familial heritage. All creations will
be added to our mosaic celebrating the great cultural diversity
found in Richmond and in Canada as a whole.

property. Please use the drop off area or park on the street. Thank you in advance for your

As the fall weather arrives please be ready to provide your child with clothing suitable to the
weather (i.e. raincoat, boots, etc.).
As well, as fall and winter approach your child may require a blanket that is more suitable for
those seasonal temperatures.
We ask parents to do their best to ensure their child arrives promptly in order to take full
advantage of the program and limit disturbances for other students.
